    Hi Stewart, great video with some very useful information and some amazing shots.
    I perform with bubbles and can give you a couple of pointers.....
    1 - when you put your bubble juice into the bottom of the cup and or your lens cap.... make sure the edges are wet. It'll help your initial bubbles not to pop when they get to the dry edges.
    2 - Also make your straw wet most of the way up. It'll help not to pop the bubble as the bubble grows and 'climbs' up the straw.
    Instead of using the bottom of a cup, or a cap, you can make a circle out of very thin (black) wire. Make the circle in the middle of the wire and bring the ends round and twist together so it's like a handle.
    This handle you can then clamp in a stand. Make sure you wet the wire circle and a bit of the handle.
    You'll have a few options available to you then.
    - You can use the circle like a bubble wand and have a soap film (or disc) . With this in the vertical position you'll get a flat disc with some awesome bands of colour. The various colours show how thick the film is.
    - With the circle in the horizontal position, and a soap film in it, you can blow a bubble dome on the top part and it'll look like a half planet.
    - If you blow a bubble dome as described above, you can also blow a dome (it'll be upside down) on the underside of the wire circle too. Get the two domes the same size and you'll have, almost, a perfect spherical bubble. ...A complete bubble planet :-)
    I hope the above info is of use to you, and anyone else reading this that is interested in bubble photography.
    Please feel free to get in touch if you wish.
    Thanks again for a superb video :-)
    Kind regards - Damian Jay from the Believe-A-Bubble show

    Nice video...May I ask if you own a light stand for that Godox strobe and, if so, if it could be used at 90° to avoid holding the diffuser while shooting?

      @@StewartGibbsPhotography Thanks for the answer. I'll try it myself as soon as possible following your tips! Already tried in the past but never got good lighting results...now I know it was because of the too small diffuser I user. I'd never thought you need one this big!

    Can you start off with a cup of coffee? Or does it have to be tea?

    • @StewartGibbsPhotography
      @StewartGibbsPhotography  5 лет назад +7

      You won't get the shot without tea, coffee causes blurry pictures.

    • @Artchick1972

    If you had a bigger soft box and put it farther away you wouldn’t get the hot spot on the top with the dramatic fall off on the sides due to the inverse square law

  • @wedding_photography
    @wedding_photography 6 лет назад +4

    You're making a big mistake opening a RAW image in 8 bits, and then applying levels on top. That kills the subtlety of your colors, adds posterization. Always edit in 16 bits, until you export and print.

    i like the idea, but whynot use a wired trigger? set the flash on a stand ? but hay, ive not
    had a go yet

    • @StewartGibbsPhotography
      @StewartGibbsPhotography  4 года назад +1

      Simple answer is I don't have a wired trigger, I usually use the timer on the camera. You could use a boom arm for the flash but I found the slight differences in the placement of the light gives different effects in the images.

    My soap bubbles are reflecting every single thing in the house. How can I fix that? Even at night with the lights off

    • @StewartGibbsPhotography
      @StewartGibbsPhotography  4 года назад

      Ensure that your large light source is as close as possible because that's where the colours will be reflected from. If it is large enough and powerful enough it should overpower any other reflection

      Stand something in the place where you need to get focus, focus on that then switch to manual focus to maintain it.
