The way his smile fades as he realizes the interviewer isn't there to ask him any questions about his performance, just his trauma. God that's so sad. I love Ryan so much, being put in a situation like this is horrible. Especially with all the possible triggers. Just gross
@@sydneyharp1989 can’t believe she said that part. She has either completely zero common sense or she’s an awful person trying to make him uncomfortable
Just stumbled on this video. Seems grossly inappropriate to ask Ryan about his past in this setting (noise and ambience was jarring). I don’t know if he was prepared to discuss at this time but seems like he was caught off guard. Think it’s brave to tell his story but lady, read the ‘room’. Seems evident he thought the convo would be about his performance & then he was hit with a serious issue. He handled it w grace but the interviewer felt awkward and the question was out of line given the timing.
oh my god watching his face fall broke my heart. this happened to me at 14. may this never again come up in an interview without his knowledge again. he wouldn’t have been that happy at the beginning of the conversation had he known this was coming. bless him. my gosh
The interviewer is being malicious here. Why blindside anyone with a question about thier trauma it’s in such poor taste and lacks professionalism. It’s awful he doesn’t owe you his life story
Ryan is so wonderful and I wasn't aware of his history of abuse until now. He is so brave and talks about everything so gracefully and with such poise and is such a beacon of goodness. Will always continue to support him and his career!! Thanks for uploading!
Why can’t people learn respect for others private lives. I’m surprised with how he handled it. He was so mature about it. I know I wouldn’t have reacted the way he did. I would’ve been upset and stopped the interview right there.
why did she ask this in public... that’s so extremely disrespectful and just pure immaturity. he was obviously uncomfortable when she started talking about it you can see his smile fade. i feel so bad for ryan for this.
Bravo to him for speaking out, and while he does deserve his privacy I don't think he really cared about being asked so publicly about his abuse experience.
I know everyone's saying this but man, the smile fading was just heartbreaking. The woman starting with praise then throwing in a 'Hey, let's talk about your trauma!' segment was just uncalled for.
As someone who went through a similar thing - I don’t love how she asked him this and his smile faded so fast. But it’s so strong of him to speak about it, I love him and it is honestly great to hear about people I look up to like him being able to understand and cope with this.
Thank you Ryan for speaking about this. You seem to be a whole lot better adjusted. It happened to me when I was very young and the time I was nine until I was 11. For me, it’s not as simple. I am much older now but the rage sometimes still consumes me. Please take care and God bless.
I feel sorry for him and I almost cried about finding out this story. He didn’t blame himself for this situation and he should’ve told his parents about this.
He is so down to earth and chill. Like he’s willing to talk about such personal topics and random stuff for 5 minutes to someone he’s never met before.
I hope and pray that he has actually "done" it. It may come up again later, and he will deal with it again and again. This is a sad truth about sexually abused youth.
as a fellow sexual abuse survivor i would love to hear what he has to say, but it would feel gross listening to him respond when cornered like this. hope you liked your tea, lady.
OMG this is awful. To men, is especially harder to come forward with this type of situation. I'm proud of him for being brave enough to speak up. You can see how mad he got when he heard the statistics.
Women get raked through the coals and dismissed or blamed for their abuse. Men often get mocked and denied. They're both heinous, demeaning, and disgusting. There's no reason to compare them. They *both* need to be taken more seriously.
People that have been abused don't become abusers. Him being abusive to Dove was just an allegation she made most likely to ruin his career. Ryan also claimed Dove cheated, but no one ever talks about that. He was always the bigger person when it came to their drama, while Dove kept spreading lies. Please, if you see a comment on a video insulting Ryan, please, shut them down, tell them that there aren't any facts supporting him being abusive, and tell them to move on and stop wasting their time commenting such things whenever they see him. I don't even know why people do that. You never see Ryan fans bash Dove because they'd get shunned to the ground. So please, respect everyone. You don't have to like them, just respect them. As for me, I think Ryan would never do such a thing, but that's just my opinion.
Alicia they aren’t being disrespectful to dove, they’re just stating what is true. Ryan didn’t really talk much about it, but dove was pretty shady when it came to discussing their relationship, and because of doves allegations a lot of people are now blindsided by who they think Ryan is and how they think he is, when in reality no one knows crap about it. Ryan also made allegations on dove, but no one really talks about those.
@@livr2783 he made one allegation and that was when he couldn't take it anymore, and that was that she cheated on him with her now boyfriend. People even dug up evidence of that but I didn't save any links.
Okay, I'm sorry to tell you but victims of abuse aren't exempt from copying the abusive behaviours they learned. It's actually common for victims to also become abusers. It's a learned behaviour, and it's not an easy truth but it happens when they don't get the help they need in time, it can be unlearned, which he might be doing now. So you can't outright say nothing happened, especially when you put biases aside and actually look into public videos and look at behaviours. You can see him putting her down in a lot of videos, emotionally, and it's very uncomfortable to watch as someone who's been a victim of emotional abuse. He might not have meant it but damage was done and they just weren't good for each other at all. That said, yeah, they both tossed accusations. He wrote songs on it, so don't act like he's shiny and clean in the break up when he furthered his career with it. It's messy on BOTH sides. And it's literally done with. They didn't work and they've moved on. There is still hurt there for both of them, it just so happens their hurt is public and it seems more like the fans latching onto every comment to spin it further. And as for Ryan fans, I have seen them relentlessly bash Dove and attack her. Fans of both parties have been terrible. No one is clean in this. Let's just let them find their peace.
Brave for him for speaking out but awful for the interviewer for asking him like that without making sure he was comfortable talking about it in such a public space.
I feel like it's usually the interviewer's job to make the interviewee feel comfortable, but in this video, it seems as if Ryan is trying to comfort her. Feels strange and inappropriate.
ok no. this is so inappropriate to ask, ESPECIALLY in PUBLIC. you can tell he is super uncomfortable and his smile immediately faded when she asked that question.
I get that talking about it and spreading awareness but I wish/hope they asked him if this is OK to ask before hand and off camera? Cause to be ask this out of the blue and a public place is jarring and sometimes very triggering
