In the 1994 and 1995 NCAA tournaments, Arkansas beat teams coached by John Thompson, Tubby Smith, Steve Fisher, Lute Olson, Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Boeheim and Dean Smith. Seven national championship coaches out of 11 tournament victories.
I forgot that Stak and Sheed were on the same team, at the same time......as far as a 1 2 punch that's pretty hard to top. I am somewhat surprised they came up short....
As a huge Razorbacks fan now in my mid 40's, the 90s were the best era for Razorbacks basketball...Final Fours in 90, 94, 95. Elite 8 in 91, National Final in 95 and National Title in 94. But after MANY years of waiting, the Razorbacks appear to be back in the zone again, with back to back Elite 8s and still playing strong in the '23 tournament. Another Final Four appearance would really make this middle-aged guy super happy. It was rough from late 90s until the last few years watching them be just OK or not good at all. Glad to see them back where they belong and getting respect. Whoaa. Pig. Sooey!!!
Probably not, but he has elevated the program from where it was under Heath and Pel at least. If he can't get to a Sweet 16 with this freshmen class in the next couple of years it might be time to move on.
A banked 3 and half courter both by Stewart capped this game off and Stackhouse was hurt. Heels shoulda in 97 or 98, went to final four both years, but Dean retired right before 97 season so Guthridge coached 98-00
Poor shooting in the national semifinals in 91, 95, 97 and 98. Combination of Rick Fox, Dante Calabria and Shammond Williams throwing up bricks in those games. Also lack of depth in 1995, couldn’t stand up to the waves of substitutions that Arkansas could throw in there and nobody to stop Corliss Williamson.
@@pp3k3jamail I meant to say that they should've won in 97 & 98 and may've went to the title game in 95 if it wasn't for those two play and poor shooting.
They would have lost 10 out of 10 this Arkansas team. This hog team played subpar all year long compared to the 94 season. As was apparent in the title game where they lost to a UCLA team that was not even in the same league as Arkansas
@@jtarman70 Stackhouse getting hurt in the opening play was fishy to me. I am still of the opinion that they should have won this game, but they didn't play there best. And, of course, Wallace not having any strength.
@@jtarman70 No sir UNC was the better team. Stackhouse wasn't 100% due to the injury early in the game and UNC went ice cold in the 2nd half, they were the best 3pt shooting team in the country
@@jtarman70 Possibly. And Arkansas was lucky that Jerry got injured first play of the game, and that Wallace was not strong enough. And that William's and Calabria went cold. Still feel that UNC could've won that game. Maybe too, if they had gotten Randy Livingston as a point guard.
I'm UNC all the way but this Arkansas team was a great team. They almost beat UNC in the 1993 tournament (led by 11 in 2nd half) and then in 1994 beat Duke for the Championship. I give them credit, lost to the eventual Champs in 93, then won 11 straight tournament games.
Arkansas of the mid-90s is my favorite team to watch ...Big Nasty and the boys... played like you supposed to 40 minutes of hell
Arkansas had the best 90's SEC team ever!
#Legendary
1996 Kentucky wildcats
Could have been the MayODay bunch , but they weren't as focused .
Kentucky was right up there too with 1996 and I believe 1998 teams
Vandy may have something to say about that. Lol just playing.
Never get tired of watching Rasheed Wallace get his ass kick by Corliss in the second half of this game
Lack of strength hurt Rasheed in his career, this being a prime example.
I was 11 when this game happened. I cried that night I loved stackhouse and sheed.
I think if Stackhouse was full strength this game we would have won, that and we went cold the second half
@@pdaddy879 Rasheed should have been hitting the weight room. Going 0-4 in Chapel Hill against Tim Duncan and Wake Forest was bad as well.

Still hard to believe there wasn't a spot for Scotty Thurman in the league.....
there would've been, they said he just needed one more year in college to polish his game.
they said he was to slow
He would Have Went In The 1st Rd, Had He Came Out The Yr, They Won The Title!!!!!
C Matt no bullshit Scotty Thurman was that dude who always came threw in the clutch
I swear I think they LITERALLY FORGOT to put his name in the draftee bucket......
7:05 Corliss absolutely abuses Rasheed

I agree, and I'm not a Hogs fan at all, but Arkansas as a national powerhouse is good thing for NCAA Hoops!
Back when college ball was still tight
I wish I did along with the game from Pel's first year.
dat Stewart 55-footer tho XD
Three consecutive NCAA champions at one final 4. I wonder if that was the only time that's ever happened.
Sheed and Corliss was teammates in the NBA am i correct
Sly Tyme Absolutely! Deeeeetrooooiiit Basketbaaaallll!!!!
and Stackhouse!
Before the were Pistons
Do you have 2006 bball game against Florida at BWA?
As long as Mike Anderson is there, Arkansas will NEVER get back to this level
Probably not, but he has elevated the program from where it was under Heath and Pel at least. If he can't get to a Sweet 16 with this freshmen class in the next couple of years it might be time to move on.
They almost back. MussBus Elite8
This is a Nolan Richardson win ... plain and simple!
No contest!!!
is this the last time Arkansas has beaten NC?
Yea. They've only played 3 times since though.
Avi Greene couldn’t beat them with Jordan
40 MINUTES OF HELL!! WOO PIG!!
UNC clearly the better team. Stack doesn’t get hurt on the first possession they win ez.
k
More talented and better can be 2 totally different scenarios. NC had more stars/future NBA guys but Arkansas played better as a TEAM.
A day after Selena's death
How did UNC win it '93 but not win it again Until 2005?

They're bums because they lost to a team that returned nearly everyone from a squad that won the national title the year before?
