- Welcome Traveler Family! Today our travels takes us to Animal Kingdom Lodge and Dinner at Jiko - The Cooking Place. It has been about 7ish years since we have had dinner at Jiko. Honestly, our first experience was not the greatest so we are anxious to see what dinner is going to look and taste like.

We are Floridians, Foodies, and most of all Disney lovers that are beginning our retirement journey and have chosen to retire close to all the Disney magic. I love Michelle's face in this video. It made me laugh out loud. I think that the salad looks amazing but I love quinoa. I do have to agree that the peach did not look ripe. It looked pretty hard. Someday I will try Jiko but it's not on list any time soon.

What a Great intro. Michelle. The music with the plating and how you ended it with the reveal of the final dish was so cool. Now that Quinoa salad looks worth the price!

Such a beautiful resort with many food options. My family often eats at Sanaa and Boma…have yet to try Jiko. Great video!
Great resort for sure. Those are two of our favorite restaurants. Jiko was good but just not our favorite
Great review! I love the way you guys describe the taste and texture of your bites! We have stayed at the Animal Kingdom twice but have never dined at Jiko. We love Boma, it’s a family favorite. I can’t wait for your next cruise! Have a great week, stay cool!

Hello from your fellow traveler. I have made it from Ohio to Florida. My son took me to the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian last night. It was my first time! I also rode the Monorail for the first time. Also stopped at The Contemporary. And shopped at the store there. Then finished it off with watching the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. I hope to see you around sometime. 😊🤗

The waiters “helper” at Be Our Guest did the same thing to us! The forks barely made it out of our mouths and he was removing our plates and at the beginning the waiter specifically said “take your time there’s no hurry”. We always went there on 1 of our MK days and on our last trip we skipped it because of that! It really ticked me off. I’m glad you guys did this review because we’ve never done Jiko’s and I’ve wanted to as I’ve heard the filet with the Mac and cheese is fantastic…I’m definitely second guessing it. There’s many other favorites we have and might just have to stick with our old faithfuls 😊
Jiko was good just not a place we are running back to. Flying fish and that steak is a different story. Might be the best steak on property. The service was great, just a little rushed at that one point but then smother out. Hope you have a fantastic week

Boma is my favourite at Animal Kingdom Lodge
We absolutely love Boma it is just so good. One of our favorite buffets on property for sure. Hope you had a great weekend

This is actually not only my favorite restaurant in Disney, it's my favorite restaurant anywhere. I absolutely love their filet,I have enjoyed every dessert we have had and we've been so many times. I would not have ordered that salad as it doesn't even sound good. 🤷♀️ I think the flavors are so unique, the presentation is amazing and we've always had top notch service. I think you may have possibly ordered some of the wrong things as that dessert has never been on my radar either. The Kilimanjaro dessert is my go to and I have never been disappointed with it.
Denice thank you for the suggestions. The main courses were fantastic. The apps not so much. The dessert was recommended by the server who was outstanding because I am not a dark chocolate fan. Hi Ellen! It's so hard when you have limited time and you want to try the best of the best. It has a very specific menu I believe and those that love it, really love it! For me, it's not one of those return restaurants. So glad you found your name as it is getting really full! Hope we get to meet you on your next trip! - Michelle

Honest opinions as always. Jiko looks fab but it’s not a cuisine I personally enjoy, however I know so many do. Very interested in your top 5 as we do seem to like the same foods (still firmly in camp Longhorn for steak..) I suspect they would be 5 must visits for us.
We keep saying we would like to do a top five or ten because there are so many places. Longhorn's for the win! We have to go to STK for our Disney Quest and I am dreading it lol. I know I won't like it as much as Longhorn's. I have to force myself to see them as two completely different steaks lol. -Michelle

Hi - Watching now - we have sat at the Cooking Table bar before and the chefs have given us bites of many things. Surprised you didn't get more interaction with them and your server should have never taken your silverware. Jiko is one of our favorites - The apps we tend to get are the wild boar and scallops which are amazing although I think a little different on the menu now. That salad I wouldn't have gotten. WE also like it there because of the wine selection. We usually get phenomenal service there. The filet is out of this world and the lamb is amazing. They used to pour the sauce over the Mac and cheese. I have had the the fish - and our oldest son loves the short ribs - they melt in your mouth. The prices have definitely increased everywhere. Thanks for your honest review
We had a nice dinner and will go back. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching the action. The service was great and the main courses were very good. Thank you for the other suggestions. We will go back one day for sure. Hope you had a great weekend..
On a side note, I don't think it was the greatest idea to order that salad if you don't like Quinoa, you already set yourself up for disappointment. 😮
But it looked so tasty as they were making them in front of us. It had great flavors but just a little difficult to eat

It was good but you listed 5 others I would go before here. Mine and your list is about the same. I would put Toledo number 5 now that Narcoossee’s is getting reimagined. Hope you guys had a great weekend
I do not like quinoa and would never get it🥴 some of the other appetizers on the menu looked better…I love spicy honey.
That sales looked so good I just had to try it. Should have went for the pork lol. It was a good meal and will go back one day. We hope you had a wonderful weekend
