Safe SCP typically have more written on them because they can be safely analyzed in their containment providing for a more detailed report.
I have a notebook I write my questions and theories in when I read/watch scp logs and there’s normally way more for them. It’s great.

Do keep in mind that in space "dark matter" which has been proven to exist bends light so when you look at a star at night its not in the position it actually is.

Makes one wonder if this is indeed the last or even the first item that MC&D passed onto the Foundation across the years. I'm willing to bet that they've encountered a fair share of extremely dangerous items in their ventures.
It's interesting to see through items like this how groups like MC&D or The Serpent's Hand think of the Foundation. While normally they're in opposition, there are situations where they know something needs to be kept away from the world, and that the Foundations are the ones to do it.
I'm more curious about what happens if you manage to find a way to turn the safety switch off.

I love this SCP in particular, because it's one where, at first, you're like "Oh, that's a quirky ability. Could probably do some damage, like with that tank." But then you think deeper about how far it can go and you get a "Oh....oh god. Oh god!" moment. Pretty much what MC&D even thought.
By the way, do you have any plans to do SCP-1233 or 4233 (presumably the former before the latter, since they're related)? Hearing you voicing for those skips would be AMAZING!

Everyone’s thinking about the destruction of the object when they state that they’re going to crush the object what they’re forgetting about are the byproducts. This thing is creating energy, if you crush something with enough mass with enough speed you’re going to create a black hole.

But in all honesty that is correct though the power to create a black hole by squeezing something withing visual range...

Honestly, I doubt a black hole would be created. None of the items crushed came anywhere close to their Schwarzschild Radius. Assuming celestial objects crush/compact to the same degree, everything would be "fine" (no black holes).
I think if it could create black holes, they would've created one, even if it evaporated before it could be thoroughly studied.
I'm curious about what using this on a black hole would do though. There are a lot of fun things to speculate about on that front.
@@Zargabaath Those were all relatively close range tests though. I believe it is implied one actually was created, when they squished the balloon. The is foundation very thorough, and not recovering any wreckage from that test seems quite telling. It could be construed as them just not finding it because it was so high up or made so small, but it's also possible that it was squished so thoroughly that it became a black hole which immediately evaporated. Even if it was just made incredibly small, the sun or even moon has much more mass than a balloon, and if flattened to the same thickness I'm pretty sure it would make a black hole. Aside from that, I do agree pinching a with this black hole would be very interesting endeavor.

There's not a ton of SCPs that make me immediately go "I WANT IT" but this is one of them. God, the horrible horrible mischief you could get up to. It's like a more interactive death note.
It's not exactly subtle though. You have to be within sight of the target, and you have a big ol' claw on your arm

So, this is basically "The Hydraulic Press Channel", SCP style.
So this thing was so outlandishly powerful that one of MCD's top brass sent it to the Foundation for safe keeping...
Just goes to show that "safe" really is a misnomer.
It's safe because you can put it in a box and it won't break out on its own. It's the right definition, but "safe" really isn't a good word to indicate it..
The classifications are primarily designations for how easy the SCP is to keep contained. Not so much it's actual danger factor.

Even those with... less than scrupulous ideals... can see that an object with such power could easily be turned on them. All they'd have to do is thing how much they could get away with something like that, and then realise that they could end up a target of the buyer.
In their own words, it would be "a poor business decision" to sell it to anyone.
That's one of the things I love about this skip. It gives some characterization to one of the more enigmatic groups. "We could make a ton of money off of this one, but we'd like to still have a world to spend that money in."

@@TaoScribble yes. a spaceship meant to destroy planets fired a laser at it, but 682 flung it from the milky way to Andromeda, not to mention 001 couldn't kill it with it's sword
682 has plot armor. It's stupid and honestly makes me hate it more and more each time they find some cop out reason to keep the lizard alive.
@@TaoScribble Given how 682 reacted to having it's atoms torn apart by the physics machine, I think rather than becoming immune, it would probably evolve to continue living and functioning as a flat 2-dimensional being.

I really like this portrayal of Mashall, Carter, and Dark. They are not evil, all they care about are resources and are not concerned with something like world domination, or destroying other groups of interest. They simply take advantage of anomalous objects.

@@padfrog193 I know but I still find it funny how they classify scps by "how easy it is to contain it" instead of how dangerous it actually is. This scp is probably a lot more dangerous than scps like scp 668, but it is still considered safe, because you can actually neutralize the wielder unlike scp 668 :P

I just realized this was one of the yt channels I loved to watch as a kid
its really items like this that sorta ruin my immersion in the whole scp thing. im perfectly fine with the huge amount of inconsistencies and really lack of any main story. but i still just cant get over the fact that this could be used to solve so many problems in other scps but it isnt. like 2399 for example. but thats probably just me tbh
All the items and stories on the SCP univers are canon and non-canon at the same time. If this one annoy you, just consider it non-canon and go to the next one.
As @Alain S. you can consider this non-canon if it bothers you.
Side note though: In my opinion, using scp 2051 on 2399 could have negative consequences that the foundation doesn't want to risk. For example, why can't the people/thing who sent 2399 just send a new one. Perhaps the next one won't miss earth.

It is disposable, cheap area denial which a bunch of classes can't easily counter, at least not without changing how they play or their loadout. Running in and slamming a mini sentry down in the middle of everything takes little skill, and can disrupt more interesting interactions

This is a great example of how the containment class system works

2501 is a perfect example of how a Safe class object means it's simply easy to contain, and not how dangerous it is. Being able to pop anything would be catastrophic. It could destroy the moon in a second, or it could stop the day breaking.
