When I was at the Tracker school I never had a Tic problem. Don't get me wrong , they did climb onto me by the half dozens. While I was out doing a meditation exercise I discovered that the Tics would be climbing on my clothes and as soon as they climbed onto my skin they would drop off of me. I was eating lots of fresh raw garlic before I went to the classes. I had a heart condition and was using herbs to better myself and lots of fresh garlic was one of the things I was doing. You have to eat several cloves each day to achieve the desired outcome and start eating them several days before you go out into the woods. You will know if you are eating enough because you and others will be able to smell it in your sweat. You can swallow the cloves whole if you can't handle the taste. I would consume about 4 cloves once or twice per day. I used to weigh 155 lbs when this took place.

everywhere is a mouse habitat. i've seen many rabbits covered with ticks, a sad sight. i assume ticks are everywhere. they are seasonal, till the middle of July, and then their numbers go down.

Even in the areas that have only 1 or 2 ticks, they will find me. Ticks prefer some people more than others.

Frankly, I do most my "bushwackin" thru the woods in winter, and even then I'm careful with bare spots in the sun. In summer I stick to trails, kayak, and bike.
