When my sister died, one of her friends went around and gathered funny, kind, bizarre stories about her and compiled it in a card. It was the best thing I received, new memories of my sister I didn't have. I still pull it out and cherish it today. Maybe when things are better home depot could do that.

I'm sorry this is so late (I've only just found this channel recently), but please accept my deep and sincere condolences for the loss of your Dad and father in law. Even to this day, a year or more later, it is still no joke. My Mom is 92 and I'm 59 and we still mask and wash our hands constantly. I must keep her safe in any way I can. So so sorry you lost your Dad so young. I hope the love of your family and your warm and loving memories give you some comfort. Do take care.

What a lovely comment. I hope you and your mum are doing ok. Here in the UK, the restrictions have been fully lifted, including wearing masks in most places! I think it’s ridiculous, but it had to happen at some point, but infections have been on the rise again. I still see some people wearing masks on public transport, but it’s now purely out of choice. I personally have asthma, and I still wear a mask if I come into contact with anyone, and wash my hands all the time, especially when I’ve collected the mail. I don’t care what people think of me, whether I’m being overly cautious, at least I’ll be alive. Good luck to you and your family, and stay safe. 🤗🇬🇧

I just discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago. Ironically, because I am quarantined with COVID. For two years I have isolated, working from home, ordering most of what I need online to avoid Storrs, and am fully vaccinated. I have taken all of the precautions because I have diabetes, high blood pressure, and asthma...and I still got it. It is bad!!!! There are no words. Every time I become short of breath I get scared and wonder if I will get to see my grandchildren grow up.
Melissa and Alex, I am so very sorry for your loss. Melissa, please do not blame yourself for not recognizing the danger signs. The paramedics even missed some of it. There are just too many unknowns with this insane virus.

I had terrible headaches and my ears rang so loud it was maddening. I had no idea I was near dying until the ER doc asked me what measures I wanted him to take to save my life. I was asked the like in 2010 when I had bilateral pulmonary embolism. This is scary for me. I have been having a hard time breathing ears are ringing and my head is pounding. I dont think I will survive if im infected.
After my flu hospitalization last Feb I was diagnosed with anal cancer. My body isn't strong enough for another hard hit with illness. I was advised by my doc a week ago to get to the ER. I haven't gone. I'm afraid I will not come home. IIm feeling I should let it take its course and whatever will be will be.
I'm sorry for your loss. Losing your dad is hard. I lost mine 16 years ago. Take care of yourselves.

I'm sorry, I'm a longtime fan of your show but this doesn't add up for me. I survived a deadly infection in 2005-it was publicized too, so I'm not coming at this from 'fear' or any other forms of malice. However...not a tear, no swollen eyes or faces, and your body language is not indicative of anyone who just lost someone so close. Thats some real fake crying too Melissa-wow, liquid eyeliner to boot. Going live feed means making money. This whole video is about 'carona' it's not about Dave's life, or an honorarium to Dave. If your father has a cold or a flu, why come online "after" he's dead from carona to preach, meanwhile no one was checking up on the guy knowing carona is out there? You all are so busy working the public for money over it now. SMH

Rainbow Lightning Woman This is your opinion; and maybe you are right but maybe you are wrong. If you are wrong, you are kicking at a woman who just lost her father. I am going to assume that they really did come on here to give people insight on warning signs we should look out for if a loved one gets Covid. I listened and feel I received helpful information. I can't imagine the grief you must be feeling right now, to lose your Dad under these circumstances. Thanks for your bravery in this situation. I feel fortunate to be living in Australia where the impact is so much lower than in the States, but the situation is still very fragile and tenuous. I am 68 and scared for myself and brother and sister in law who are of a similar age, and I also have a disabled son with asthma. We are ALL vulnerable and we ALL need to be as careful as possible and when we start to get bored and stir crazy, try to be level headed and give ourselves a good talking to about what we might be risking by being flippant and casual in our behaviour. Stay safe everyone and listen to health advice. Love to all. 💗

Bless your hearts, Dave's passing saddened me to my core. I thoroughly enjoyed the episodes with him in it and his witty comments. Alex, I especially enjoyed how well you two got along, and it was very clear and obvious that he thought the world of you and was happy that his 'little Girl' married you. (Sorry Melissa, you'll always be his little girl in his eyes and in your own heart).
But it's rare to see a Girls Daddy, being so completely chummy with her Husband and it was delightful to see. Watching him and Alex joke and play around antique hunting or cleaning Mary's house and laughing made my heart smile. I thought many times while watching you two going back and forth, that this is how it is supposed to be, a Father-in- law having mutual respect and admiration...
So that's why, I guess as a viewer, it hit me hard. Seeing how much Dave loved you Alex, always brought a smile to my heart.
Melissa, Hun I don't know what to say. I lost my Dad in 2007 and he was my best Friend. He told people that I was his Hero, but in reality he was mine. The void and pain of losing your Daddy is hard and real and no words can dilute that feeling of loss, or lessen the pain. But know that your Daddy adored you, it was obvious when he looked at you, and he was very proud of the Wife, Mother, Teacher and the person that you've become. He did good bringing you up to be the strong and considerate Woman that you are today.
As always, you guys are in my thoughts and prayers, even more so now.
Stay safe and take care and know someone in Texas cares about you.

My heart hurts for you, I am in one of those "essential" jobs as a worker in a pharmacy. We are wearing masks, gloves and have plexiglass barriers between us and the customer at the registers. And I'm scared, but I go to work every day because I do think what we do and sell is essential, but I really want to tell people to STAY HOME!!! If you do have to go to the grocery or the pharmacy don't come in a group. Don't bring the kids. Don't come in just to buy something non-essential. Get the essentials and go. Wear your masks and gloves.

To: Tracilyn and Una, Grace, peace, love, health and all blessings on you and your families. I can only imagine how heart rending your work must be. My brother is an EMT and my DDiL is a nurse. I do know the pain of being alone and without family although all my kids are adults with their own lives now and it is a normal thing. My SO had to leave in January he is 1200 miles away helping to care for his mother and they are all in quarantine together. This has been difficult for all of us, but more so for medical personnel than any other profession I believe. I know that not everyone is a believer or of the same faith, and that is good, we have freedom to choose. But I am lifting all of you and your families before my God in prayer, that even if He does not intervene, He doesn’t mostly, (He has given us each other so that we should care for each other), that He might provide you with measures of strength and courage and peace enough to endure each and every day. If you have a particular charity in your area, please post it for me. We are not all thoughts and prayers. Physical disability keeps me from being the hands and feet of Jesus, but I can give.

Dear Melissa, Alex, and children: I finished watching the Potter House videos today. I think the moments of Dave helping with the Potter House are wonderful moments of Dave with you. As a former Home Depot employee myself, I thinkl Dave was probably wonderful with his fellow employees and customers too. He was a delight to me as well because he is so like my older brother in personality and his helping hands during the Potter House adventure. I am so sorry for your loss and yet grateful you have these videos of quality time with a kind and caring loved one.
    Sincerely!

Same. I've been taking it seriously, but there are definitely ways I can up my diligence. But knowing the name and face of someone and having watched videos with Dave many times before this definitely really makes it REAL in a more significant way.

My husband and I argued over a week with my parents and siblings to take it seriously. It took a lot of convincing! We sent them gloves and masks. Finally they seem like they did take it seriously but they are in the middle of a city and have to go out periodically, so we do worry about them. But they are doing the best they can.

@billyfromtheusa scissors work rather well for cutting nails, as does a paring knife. I've done both. Some of the makeup that you don't understand, helps to keep painful acne to a minimum. Some of them are working daily and a professional look is required because there is an inequality in treatment of women who don't look "put together". PS--I am not wearing makeup, I rarely wear make up, but I also am aware that what is essential for one may be luxury for another. I find alcohol and tobacco to be non-essential, but am not busy shaming those who find it a necessity.

What a great testament to your dad that he raised an amazing person like you Melissa 🐝You are his legacy, Alex and ur family emit such love. You keep all the love alive Dave shared with you, because Love never dies. Alex I know you had a special relationship with Dave, don’t worry that you didn’t let people know how special Dave was. You told us and showed us, we heard you and we saw for ourselves what a great generous man. The if only ‘s .....I would have done this...or that...I spent years going over and over in my mind “what ifing,” I was not able to heal until I stopped myself.
Alex you will never know if you test positive it was you. Be kind to yourselves. I am a clinical therapist, and I tell people there is no correct way to grieve. Art helped me express what I could not do with words. Love and peace to your family. 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Ps your maturity and honesty are good for my soul. I thank you. Melissa 🐝from Ohio.

God bless you Alexander, Melissa and your entire family.

Mari_Belle021 - Some folks don’t understand how the thumbs up & down actually work according to RUclips. They’ll click the thumbs down icon when the video shows bad or sad news, like death, crime, etc. it doesn’t always mean they don’t like the video, just that the video makes them emotionally upset.

I am watching this nearly at the 1st year anniversary of my fathers passing. He was very ill and passed with covid, we were told.
We had the same sadness of the not being there for him as once he was in hospital no one could go with him, not even my mum.
He passed away and we waited three weeks for his funeral .. it was very tough.
An Angel 👩‍⚕️ held his hand till his family heaven side came to collect him ❤
