- Is it possible to completely swap over the front of a W205 Class? Our latest edition to the KillerHERTZ Fleet is totally transformed from an AMG line spec, to the Elegance/Classic front end, complete with traditional grill and upright bonnet star badge.

I totally agree. I´m so tired of seeing the amg/avantgarde front. That´s why i bought my w205 with the "classic" star. Looks so much more classy.

I had an AMG line, but must admit I really like the conversion. I had no idea they retained the grill and ornament option in Europe.
think it's gone with the 206 only in China still available.
I mostly see the Avantgarde versions around these days. Which is a little sad as I love the traditional look. It just doesn't feel like a proper MB to me without the classic star and grille. Enjoyed the video, cheers!
I agree, Elegance line looks so much better on C Class. While I would have preferred to keep all the vent covers in the Elegance style, you did a great job overall; I had no idea so many components are actually attached to that front end.The hood ornament is just icing. I remember it being like a gun sight from behind the wheel in my old 400E, and I loved it. The last car I had with the ornament was a 97 E420, although it seemed a bit less prominent from the drivers seat. But regardless, I started driving ML/GLE's a while back and they were never meant to have the stand up star.
Here in the USA the standing star hood ornament is respected and so unique. MB are the only ones besides rolls Royce that still use them. Gives a feeling of class and wealth. Can’t believe MB thinks the big star is better and has decided to eliminate the standing star. It doesn’t feel right without seeing it on the car. After all it’s always there to remind you your in a MB and guide the way to automotive superiority.
I am surprised but it looks SO MUCH MORE AGGRESSIVE and FIERCE with the classic grill. Absolutely love it
Yeah! I would like to choose the traditional classic grill at the front end, it really represent the legendary of MB, especially the S-Class series!
Old grill was fine but this is amazing and enhanced the whole look of a car, looks like an S-class

I remember as little kid my great uncle(grandmother's brother) had a 1985 slate blue Mercedes S-Class. Remember at the family reunion here in the States. Seeing the Mercedes, Cadillacs, Lincolns and Buicks with hood ornaments were a sign of prestige. Nowadays a lot of luxury cars have gotten away with the hood ornaments. But to me it makes the car look classy
Just ordered an entire Elegance front end from the Netherlands for my 2016 W205. Definitely prefer the classic look. Thanks for the video, I'll no doubt be referring to it when I'm swapping them over!
Hi where did you manage to fetch the entire front end from and how much did it cost you? Uk
@@auke786 all on eBay. I have the part numbers if you’d like. However, when it arrived it had been beaten up badly. I ended up returning it and was still liable for import duty since it was from the Netherlands. Front end was about 300 quid. Import duty of over 100 quid. I’ve put the whole thing down to experience and just accepted the car as it is 😂

I have a facelift s212 with the big star and evertime I see a black pre facelift 212 I think that it looks really classy. Great video.
The pre facelift W212 is that car that for me needs to be black, it was criticized at launch, but now everytime I see a black one with the upright star and the pontoon fenders, that thing looks MEAN

i can tell you that it´s also true for germany that the exclusive line is almost a rarity. People constantly confuse my w205 with an S-Class.

@@NaveenKumar-oj7xh Yes. Because most people just don´t know that the classic grill still exists for the C-class. It´s so uncommon.
@@NaveenKumar-oj7xh To be honest I even find it hard to distinguish S-class, E-class and C-class with this elegance trim when they are moving, basically the only way I can tell what is what is from the dimensions, when I get near an S-class I can notice is quite bigger compared to a C-class, but still, it's really hard to tell the difference if you do not see them everyday knowing what is what

Great mod and looks much better than having a ‘double star’ (ie. people who just swap out the flat bonnet star for a cross hair one - looks hideous!)
Just an observation at 4:14 - that car is a UK ‘Sport’ not an AMG line.

Interesting video. I have a W205 as well, the Avantgarde line like your original one. I also liked the classic look better before I bought the car, but it grew on me, and now I am more into the big star, without the emblem.
dam i never really thought about this, but seeing the "elegant" front end really does make it look more, well, elegant. Maybe it's because in the UK were only used to seeing the S class in that style

So do I, totally agree that the Elegance line looks so much better on C Class then the Avantgarde gril. Im from the netherlands, and looking to buy a C class 350e and I do prefer the Elegence grill, but its like 1 out of 20 of the cars that have this look. But its more work then expected, so I guess ill keep searching for the right one :) thanks for making this great video!

Modern smaller Mercedes' lack that elegance that separates them from other cars on the road. They're too aggressive and sporting.
A proper (non-AMG) Mercedes should be all about elegance and luxury, and that's exactly what this grille and badge bring back.
It would be my number one requirement for having one.

The entire bumper needs swapping also, as per the video. regards
