I dipped my toe into the crossbow world late last season after years of hunting with a compound. When I saw your previous video about the mini, I thought, “what a goofy little contraption.”
After a couple hikes in lugging that big crossbow, I thought “that mini is genius.”
Already saving my pennies for one!

I too added the nylon locking nut to the mini. But I also removed the big plastic knob and added a short socket headed bolt in it's place. This really streamlines down the mini. I went on a fly in moose and broke the mini down for the flight in. both halves went into my duffle bags wrapped in clothing. two little wrenches ..

I have struggled trying to real like the Mini. You most definitely have to bolt the crossbow together. I learned that the hard way, constantly trying to keep the bow zeroed. I then struggled with the cheap stock scope. I replaced with The Nikon Cross Bolt and that was somewhat of an improvement. I then just recently viewed your videos on the Burris Fastfire 3 and thought I would give it a shot. The bow was up for sale, but I had to give it one more go. At last, I have arrived. The Fastfire 3 was mounted and sighted in today. The bow is no longer for sale. Thanks for your Mini videos.

I think if I would have known about that locking bolt I would still have the mini. I had issues with it being accurate and now I know why. I couldn't ever get that turn style bolt tight enough and it would wobble just a bit.

Can it be switched between left and right handed and how are it's safety features? Thinking of "getting one for the kids". Always look forward to the vids.

It would be great if you would do a tutorial about sighting in a red dot on the mini!

thanks cuz my Hickory creek V.I.C.B . will arrive any day now, I'll take your advice.
btw, you like the swackers 207? know anything about the blue 261? more money no practice tips.
I'm gonna try lock tight on mine over the nylon nut. I'm gonna go for black bears too not comfy at 30 yards there unless I'm in a stand.

I don't think I've shot the 261. I've looked at the big 251 model though.

How do you get any consistency outta this thing. I've had it 3 weeks, shot 100s of arrows and it's all over the damn place.

I added a locking nut to the bolt hiding the riser on. You also do have to centershot tune it like a compound bow. And, I've found that the way you hold it seems to impact how it shoots. If you grip too tight or jam it into your shoulder it can flex and impact POI

@@nickwilliamsoutdoors So after working with Jerry via text the last few days I've came to the conclusion the scope was my whole problem. Switched to a red dot out of the safe and the mini is driving tacks now.

I have a mini, but don't like the stock scope either. For the FastFire III did you get the 8 or the 3 MOA Dot? Thanks for the video and thanks in advance for your help.

Im having a Super hard time getting my red dot sighted in. I love the mini other than that. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I’m not using the mini this season because of that problem.

I tried putting a 1x30 red dot I had laying around on mine but the front of the bow ended up in my field of vision. Is there something about the fastfire 3 that mitigates that problem? Do you have a clear sight line?

    • @nickwilliamsoutdoors
      @nickwilliamsoutdoors  Год назад +1

I just shoot with both eyes open and I never notice the riser. You can see the riser on a compound bow and the barrel on a gun with open sights too. Hasn't ever bothered me

This is absolutely the most dangerous bow for the shooter. The trigger mechanism does not hold and can go off by itself.
The company claims to have a warranty, but it does not make good in its promises. An absolute fail.
I would seriously advise anyone to avoid wasting your money on this contraption and buy a reliable name brand instead.

Wow shooting only 30 yds seems to be really confined to acvery close range & seems like you would be denying yourself opportunities for such a pricey lil bow ... you be just as well off shooting traditional recurve bow with the limits you have set with the hickory creek mini ! Check out the killer instinct 2 point crossbow shoulder sling , it might be the ticket 4u ...
