I've lived 5 miles away from Donnigton Park since 1981. I've been to the museum a few times, and a countless race events. I was there in '93 to watch Mansell in the TOCA shootout, standing about 200 metres up from the old hairpin, very close to where Mansell got it sideways, then got a nudge from Tiff Needell, pushing him into the wall. I was also there in April '93 when Senna lapped everyone except Damon Hill.
Thank you very much for this! I had to do a double take when I saw the comments about the museum closing. I had plans to visit there one day. But you gave me enough of a tour that I am satisfied! Appreciate it
I drove a Ferrari around there and I wish I knew more about how good the GP collection was and went to see it before it closed. So stupid I was back then
I been here a few of times and loved it every time I was there 😊 its a shame that its permanently closed now which i could never understand because its a big part of Donington Park. Blame MSVR and the arsehole that now own it. But again the museum was just a special place to be 👌
Unfortunately Tom Wheatcroft, the founder and owner of the collection died in 2009 and his son took over and kept it till 2018 when he decided to close due to 'financial reasons'. Well, I dont really think it was true, Kevin, his son just wasn't into F1 and he created his own Wheatrcoft collection with military vehicles. Donnington Collection was the biggest F1 car collection in the world and sadly it has been broken, meaning most cars have been sold or been returned to their original owners as some of them weren't owned by Tom. Very sad story for any F1 fans.
As far as I know all of these cars are original as they were used, and included all the mechanical parts too. So I think they had engines and the whole package. But to be honest it doesn't really matter. You wouldn't see it anyway.

Been there, still got the pictures before it closed....
An amazing museum, I went there about 10 years ago, why did it close? And what happened to all the cars?

Really sad it closed - I had so many opportunities to visit but never did - doubt there will be another collection like it! @@petercsato6742
Hi. Is Audi Quattro Coupe from 80’s there ??
Bellissima pagina di storia. Tutti mezzi che hanno segnato un'epoca.
Senna, Fangio and Clark the greatests.
Incredible. The only match for this is the Indianapolis museum. Truly incredible.
I'd love see the Indianapolis museum. Unfortunately it is way too far from me 😔
3:55 - is this the chassis number that won in Donington in 1993? or is it another MP4/8?
Not sure, I can't remember, but I will check it, I have all the docs from each cars as well. If I find it I let you know :)
12:05 Mercedes-Benz W 125
What happened to all those vehicles when the museum closed down?
They went back to their owners. Many were loaned to the collection.
Who owns all these cars? Build Value must be huge.
Force India look so beautiful ❤
Been there many times and was there the last day it was open sad day.
Yeah, I was there like 2 weeks before it closed and they were removing an oldtimer, it was sad to see when they rolled it out 😢
What would Life be….Without F1
I would love to have the keys to this shop.unsupervised...and no law enforcement around and a empty road...the damage i could cause....
I get that! 😃 I'd love to even just sit in them. 😄
Once the transmissions were "automatic," the real driving disappeared along with the Greats of racing.
It is part of the evolution of the cars, but I understand what you are saying. My favourite era was the 90s when I started watching F1.
let me drive them all🙏
Pleeeeeease🤑👍
JPM's Walrus car
Yep, FW26 Williams BMW.

You would be wrong.
