Thnaks for the 2nd tip, I didn't know what's going on with the drone since it didn't want to charge with the cable given in the package. New cable fixed it and the battery went back from the hibernation.
Hi Sean, Luis from Mexico. Great videos. Really helpfull. I have a DJI Spark, buy now I´m really enjoying my new Parrot Anafi. Super drone, and thank to your videos I can get the best of it. Parrot is not in Mexico so I have to learn from the experts !! Thank you very much, keep doing them. We amateurs in drone flying and photografy need them. Sorry about my english, have´nt practice for a long time. Best regards
Sean.... in a nutshell: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battery_balancing . Balancing the cells within a lipo or Lithium Ion Battery prolongs the life of the battery, and should be implemented as part of a good Battery management system. For my Hubsan Zino Pro, I'm able to do this using an IMAX B6 Mini Balance charger/Discharger, though have found no way in which to connect a ANAFI battery to the balancer. Thought mabey you had a method in which to balance the cells?
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography With recent reports of the ANAFI battery issues since a recent firmware update, i beagn looking on you tube for answers. Check this out: ruclips.net/video/pot5VGvrbPk/видео.html . I will say though, I performed the latest firmware update yesterday, and flew through 2 batteries this a.m. with no problems at all. I think the key to battery management with the ANAFI batteries is to expend them down to no more that 10 - 15%. The, if storing, charge to 50% and leave then, until ready to fly again. Then charge them up 10 100%. Without extensive modifications to a charger, I haven't found anyone on you tube who has been able to connect the ANAFI battery to a charger and monitor the cells as the battery is charging.
I like your reviews. Maybe someone has already mentioned this: Make sure to consider where you are when you launch, and the direction and height of nearby trees, then set the RTH altitude high enough to clear those treetops. It's easy to be having fun, then an RTH is triggered and the Anafi does exactly what you told it to do... The other thing to be careful about is backing away to get a reveal shot, only to whack into the one tree branch you did not see. Fortunately, when this happens, down below the Anafi can be usually heard beeping with its blue light blinking, and you have your phone/tablet to show you about where to look in the bushes. As long as the battery lasts.
Hello Shawn, I have had the same experience with the Anafi, thanks for tips 2 and 4 ... I'm looking forward to your new Instagram and RUclips posts! Greetings from Michael from Germany!
Very good tips Shawn...I really enjoy flying the Parrot Anafi...I must admit the battery hibernation mode caught me out few times in the early days of flying but I got a 3 battery charger in Amazon few months back and it charges my 3 batteries very quick by either home power or in the car...I got my drone in Sept 2018 but only really started flying it in Spring this year 2019...Touch wood, I have never crashed so still on the original blades but do carry the spares...I suppose 1 more tip I would add would be to choose the appropriate Return to Home height...if you were flying near cliffs or very high trees it’s good to raise that height so the Anafi climbs high first to clear those obstacles...your tips are great too...a great little drone 😉
I will have to look at that battery charger. I have set my return to home to 20 meters high that it should miss most obstacles. Thanks for the other good Tips!
You’re welcome Shawn...I had to set mine to about 200 feet on some flights just to be safe...the charger I bought was the RC GearPro 3 in 1 multi-charger...it had good reviews...since getting it, it works great 👍🏻
It is good for what it is and the price. I assume the quality of a DJI Mavic pro with the larger sensor is better. It does not do well in low light but if the light is good the picture come out ok
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography Thank you sincerely for your answer. The issue has always been and will be the money so I think between the DJI mini 2 and the Anafi which is close to the purchase price, do you have to suggest something else? (I need something close to the best photo quality at around 500 euros ) Thank you very much again for your help. :)
I have just bought a DJI mini 2. And I find it just as good and in some was better than the Anafi. It only as a 12 mp sensor but the photos come out good and the range is better
Hello Sir Very informative video. I have a hibernating Anafi battery. But i don't get which type of charger you have used for recure the battery. Can you explain please Regards
Also, assuming you aren't in the field when need to use the batteries, you can just plug the battery into it's charger and start charging it and it will come out of hibernation...so no extra/special equipment is needed to get it to come out of hibernation n this scenario.
Yes that is correct. The battery will come out of hibernation as soon as it is getting charged either by the portable battery charger or from the mains power.
Thanks for your video Shawn. I was wondering if you had a video, or know of one that goes over the photography aspect of Freeflight 6 and the Anafi. Automatic seems to provide a washed out look and Im looking to take advantage of the nice Sony lens this drone has. Thank you so much!
HI Sean, have you ever had the Anafi start the fan but not initiate the calibration of the camera nor show the blue light To indicate the drone was ready to fly? love all the tips!
No. I think if you plug the usb cable into the Anafi then connect it to a PC so you can access the pictures the fan comes on and the blue light but I don’t think the camera goes through the calibration. If your is coming on but not doing the camera calibration and it is not plugged into a computer there might be something wrong with it. Does it still fly ok and it the video picture level

Thanks for these :) I'm considering getting an Anafi, primarily because of the upward rotating camera and also the programmable flightplan. Currently have a Mini 2 and these are the things I really miss on that. Primary use will be creating 360 aerial panorama's. With the Mini 2 I have to manually fill in the sky part, which is annoying and never yields excelent results. Your videos are helpful!
The controller is constantly charging an android phone. There is nothing I can do with it. The phone drains the battery much quicker than the batteries of the drone last. Is it the same if you connect the iphone?
If it has a good GPS single it will mark it take off point. If it lose connection to the controller it will fly back to its take off location. Thanks for the comment
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography hey Shawn, thanks for the reply man. So regardless of where it takes off it will come back if it loses Comms - you dont have to do anything to set that up man?

Very useful tips. Regarding the app, I would say it's useful to set your RTH time to 1 or 2 secs and activate the zebras for overexposure :) Also, reading the manual is very useful as it contains most of the points.
Putting your phone in airplane mode (or at least turning off wi-fi) also ensures the drone connects to the controller instead of the phone's wi-fi, which ensures better range
I forgot to add in the video that turning on airplane mode is only useful when using the phone and the controller. If you are using the phone by itself you can only turn off the cellular data you still need wifi on to control the drone via the phone. Thanks for the comment
DO NOT BUY PARROT ANAFI!!! I experienced a problem with my controller was was a fault with my controller being able to connect to my smartphone (having used it about 20 times). From reading various forums and comments (on youtube and trustpilot), this appears to be a common problem. And now Parrot won't replace my controller. Also other interesting thing to note, there is no customer service telephone number in the UK.
Get a new cable, data cable and sort it out. There's nothing wrong with these birds or controller as long as you don't bash about the controller where the USB plugs in. Common sense would dictate if you bash or drop on the plug part it will internally snap off the USB board solder connection, parrot should have made that part in the front i'd say rather than such a vulnerable location, best to unplug it any time you sit it or lay it down anywhere to be safe instead of sorry.
Thnaks for the 2nd tip, I didn't know what's going on with the drone since it didn't want to charge with the cable given in the package. New cable fixed it and the battery went back from the hibernation.

turn on or off lossless zoom in settings
