I remember when Anafi first came out so many people couldn’t understand why a person would want a drone that the camera angles straight up. You just showed one of the reasons. Filming the canopy’s of the trees was a great shot.
Just bought a Anafi. Its my 1st drone to use in cycling touring videos. After some research because of its weight, it has to go in panniers I bought the Parrot. I film with a cannon 700d and a Hero 5 Black which can all film in 50fps. The Cannon can only shoot in 1080p so restricted to that for the now, but really excited about what this drone can do, a whole new range of shots is now open to me and it will bring my You Tube videos out of the dark ages. The footage you shot is stunning , cannot wait to get started with mine. Enjoy and post more.
Hi Martin . I am glad you liked the video. My landscape photography video would not be the same with our the Parrot Anafi. Now that you have the Anafi you will notice a difference as well. Have fun filming your Cycling touring with your Anafi. The Follow me feature might be good when you are on the bike. Thanks for the comment Martin

Did you take the SD card out of the Anafi and in port the files directly off of the card? See if files work on another computer. It could just be the computer you are installing it on. If you have tried all this and it still does not then try another SD card. If that does not solve it then there could be something wrong with the Anafi and hopefully you can get it fixed under warranty
Try securing the gimble guard with velcro as I do with my Q500. My gimble actually jammed due to the bumpy ride of my GMC pickup. Since then I have always used the gimble guard which solved the problem.
I've been flying the Mavic Pro for 2 years now and I bought the Anafi for the 21mp camera and in my opinion the Anafi takes better pictures, so far I'm loving the Anafi.

The Mavic air and the Anafi were my two choices as well. As I take a lot of still photographs the 21 megapixel camera and the price swayed me to the Anafi. Also the loudness of the Mavic Air. The Anafi is one of the quietist drones. It was the right choice for me.
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography Yes the MA has a 12mp camera and the Anafi is 21MP. No Obstacle Avoidance on the Anafi but that's not a deal breaker. Subbed your channel. Thanks
The Mavic Air is noisy and the sound is ugly. The Anafi sounds much calmer. If you ever need to fly near to people who are not involved with your endeavour an Anafi is much less likely to turn them into antagonists. @@reconnaissancesquadron222 Think that's a bit extreme. The Mavic looks a better picture with better colours even though it's not got a higher megapixel than the anafi. The only think that lets the MA air down is the flying time.
Thank you for talking about the photograph quality! I have watched several videos about this drone. All talked about the video quality with no mention of the photo quality. I was the same I preferred the little case as it was perfect for fitting in my camera backpack. This was the main reason why I did not buy the extended pack. I did not want the larger case
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography thanks for the reply... I guess we think alike. It doesn't appear to be any advantage in getting the extended if you don't like the bag(aside from the 3 charging cables) I can always spend $99 later on if I decide 2 batteries are not enough.
Excellent video clips, Shawn - and very useful tips. Have you had cause for concern about the open motor housings? I am planning on getting the Anafi in the coming days. Have to say that my only hesitation so far is the lack of 'obstacle avoidance' sensors. Did that ever figure into your decision to buy the Anafi? I am delighted that you included stills in your review as photography is my main pastime.
Hi Paul. There is no issue with the open motors there are covers you can get for the motors but Parrot advise against it as it may disrupt the function of the motor. In regards to the obstacle avoidance I had a good long think over it before I bought the Anafi and for me it was not worth paying the extra money and also the additional consumption of the battery power just to have the forward and backward sensors. The Anafi still has the bottom sensor. As long as you always keep an eye on the drone you should be ok. I hope this helps and good luck with what ever drone you get
By the way I submitted a new RUclips video after having the Anafi for a year. I gave some tips I picked up a long the way you should have a look at that one
Beautiful landscape to fly. Great! I love this drone too. The Done has no geofencing so I can also fly in my yard, unfortunately I live in a no-fly-zone (800m from a hospital away).
Good tips, especially the one about the battery -- you must hear the click once it's in. Another one would be to not snap the battery in when not using the drone, so as to avoid accidental discharge. What you can do is block the battery with the legs.
Good video! I love the Anafi! Flight Plan is very cinematic!! Given the support of the camera gimbal from the case, I never use the camera cap. Make sure you try the 360 panoramic mode.

Excellent video; congratulations. As a former Bebop 2 user, I find my new Anafi to be more complicated to use. For instance: how do you do to take still pictures while shooting video? With the Bebop skycontroller it was quite easy but, what’s the procedure with Anafi? I mean video and photo simultaneously. One option cancels the other; a nuisance. Thanks!
I don’t think you can take still photographs with the video recording. You can always take screenshots of your video later when you are editing. If I had to guess I would say because of the 4K resolution and the amount of data that the Anafi has to record for this it is not able to capture still pictures and video at the same time. I hope this helps
Great review of the Parrot Anafi. How about the landscape photo quality? Is the 21Mp resolution of this drone enough? How about noise? Is the dynamic range good?
Very good footage, it is nice to hear a perspective from a photographer. You mentioned that you were happy to take questions in comments, and if you do not mind I have a few, as a photographer interested in landscapes and creative phtoography. Do you find the 1 second maximum shutter speed of the Anafi limiting you in any way? The reason I ask is that the Mavic Air goes up to 8 secs, which might be a good creative option, or perhaps less so when it comes to drone photography.. Do you think neutral density and/or polarizer filters are useful at all? I see many suggest using them on drone cameras, but honestly your photos and videos looked good enough to me without. Also, did you find the HDR mode on the camera any good? The HDR footage straight from the drone I have seen in other videos in general did not look too nice, and I was wondering if it does offer any advantage in post-processing perhaps, of one is better off simply avoiding it and try and recover highlights in postprocessing. Sorry, perhaps too many questions, but I would be very interested in hearing your opinions on the above.
Hi Aldo. In regards to your question on the 1second shutter speed limitation it never crossed my mind to want to use the Anafi for low shutter speed photos. Even though the drone has the gimbal I do not think it would be able to hold the camera as still as a tripod to be able to take good low shutter speed pictures. The Mavic Air might have the 8 second shutter speed because it has a true 3 axis gimbal where the Anafi only has the 2 axis and a third digital axis. I tried HDR in the beginning when I first got the Anafi but I found that the footage did not look as natural as the standard video formate it did help to bring out some of the details in shadows and especially clouds but I good not get the over all footage to look as good as the standard. It could be that I just do not have the best video editing software as I am just using iMovie. I hope this helps. Thanks for the comment.
Hi Shawn, thanks so much for all the info! I have seen some impressive slow shutter speed drone imagery but, yes, they were taken with Mavic drones I think. Then, even with my camera I happen to set low shutter speed and shake it around to see what comes our of it. So I was thinking of doing something similar with aerial views. But hemmm, I am a bit of weirdo admittedly :D I like the Anafi very much, but I just realized that it does not seem to show aperture/shutter and histogram. Or perhaps I misunderstood, but I will research a bit more I think, before deciding which one to buy. Your photos makes me want to visit Ireland one day, I will keep an eye on your channel for new footage. Thanks again, happy flying and photographing.
Thanks a lot for the great video. One of the best on RUclips! One question: where did you buy the lens cap? Many thanks for your response. Greetings from Switzerland
Excellent review 😎👌👌,,,, I had a GoPro hero 4 silver , very good camera but I didn’t really have much use for it and it’s a bit fiddly to use and end up selling it ,but with a drone , I can actually have a bit of fun with it plus recording video and taking photos I’ve been researching Drones and the Parrot Anafi seems to tick every box , flight time , camera quality and ease of use etc l I will be buying a parrot Anafi 😎👌👌👌👌
Thanks for review Shawn. It was very helpful. But I have one question, have you ever noticed some twitching when you spin camera around? Many reviewers point to this issue..
Hi Vladimir. I have not noticed any twitching yet but it could be that twitching other people were talking could be high frame rate filming . If you film in high frame rates 60fps some times jitter can be seen in the footage. 24fps is best for our human eyes. It allows for a bit of blurring in between the frame and it looks smoother. Thanks for the comment
Hey Shawn I am a commercial photographer and I’ve been thinking of getting one what are your thoughts I do a lot of custom homes for builders but mostly I just want to use it for landscape photography
Hi Art. I did a lot of research before I bought the Parot Anafi. The reason main reason I went for it was you got a lot more for your money. For instance it has most of the same features as the Mavic drones but at a much cheaper price. Also the image sensor on the Anafi in 21mp rather than 12mp on the Mavic air. You do loss some of the avoidance sensors but as long as you know they are not there you look out for the obstacles them yourself. I can not really compare what the other drowns would be like to the Anafi as I do not own any to test but I have been pleased with the Anafi so far. If you want to see some of the aerial footage taken from my Anafi I have a lot in the Landscape photography youtube videos. There is some footage in most of them. it will show what the quality is like. I would say that it take much better video in good light. I dont think it works well in low light conditions but again maybe Mavic drones are the same. I hope this helps.
Hi Matt I am still trying to find that out. I did spend one day testing out all of the different video settings but the weather and the lighting that day was very changeable (typical Irish weather) so it was difficult to tell which setting worked best. I need a good day with consistent light so that all of the test are the same. This is on my list of things to do. When I do I might make a video on it. So to answer your question most of the video's that I have taken with it is with the default setting except for my Fair Head video. I filmed in P-Log with this and edited it later. Have a look at the video to see if it looks any different.
I have tried different video settings and filters but I found that the default auto settings seems to be best for most situations. Thanks for the feedback
I couldn't decide which drone I wanted Mavic Air or Anafi But I decided to go for the Mavic Air I already had some problems wiith a Parrot Bebop 1 drone and some toy drones from parrot so I didn't want to get another drone that breaks a month later, When I got my Bebop 1 I got more than 100 crashes in a month and I just landed in snow during the winter and the camera is still blurry since then And now I have my Mavic Air also a month and I got not even 1 crash Anafi is a great drone but it has no Obstacle avoidance, and the mavic air has some more and a little better quickshot modes I like the anafi but I went for the mavic air, and i'm SUPER happy with it!
I am glad you found a drone you are happy with. The Mavic Air does have many more obstacle avoidance sensors to help to avoid crashes. Thanks for the comment
Really liked this man.. just got mine not used it yet, but you have given me some great ideas... question.. I have an scooter can i get it to follow me at any level??? Cheers keep up the great work, great video.
Hi Carl. The Anafi does have the ability to follow an object. A car is large and easy to follow. A person is small and can be followed as well because they do not move fast. A scoter is small and fast so the Anafi may struggle to follow you but the only way to find out is to try it. I hope you enjoy your new Anafi
I got ND/PL filters for better video. But you don't want filters for still shots because you want as fast a shutter speed as possible. I like my Anafi for hiking and for around people because it is quiet and unintimidating. Parents at a park playground were unconcerned. But it is a second shooter for my Phantom 4 Pro (when it is not bricked by No-Fly Zones, unlike the Anafi).
I love my "bumblebee". The ONLY deficiencies are not being able to use my phone with the case on AND, Parrot seems to have abandoned consumer drones. Very disappointing.
Nice tips for the beginner. Two questions: What video editing software do you use? Does RAW format allow for better still pics when processed in Photoshop? I have been saving the photos as JPG images. By the way, the water looks fantastic there in Ireland! Check out my 1 minute video postcards from a few places in California. Good subject matter for you.
Hi Peter. I use iMovie which come free with a Mac or an iPad. Nothing fancy. In regards to Your question about RAW photos it is always best to capture in RAW format as long as you don’t mind the extra time for processing as you have more control over the editing of the picture. But in saying the the Anafi actually takes really good JPGs. Thanks for the comment
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography Shawn, I am giving Filmora9 a try. It is not too simple and not too sophisticated. I added a new antenna to my Anafi and it doubles the altitude you can reach. Check it out, if interested: ruclips.net/video/H-55F0Pgmnc/видео.html
the worst thing about the cover you bought is that if the drone starts up with it on it can burn out the gimbal..use the one that came with it thats the best thing just put it in the case as soon as you take it off and you wont lose it if you zip the case....Nice shots enjoy

Yes it is good in bright light but when it gets dark there is noice. It will never be as good as a DSLR but it does the job. Thanks for the feedback
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography Thank you!
But hemmm, I am a bit of weirdo admittedly :D
I like the Anafi very much, but I just realized that it does not seem to show aperture/shutter and histogram.
Roland Gasser Thanks for the feedback Roland. The small round lens cap comes with the parrot Anafi when you buy it
how you shoot raw
Yes I get the Anafi to capture both a jpg and a dng image at the same time
Rubber band for that lens cap? Rubber bands can be an essential tool😁
Yes that could work but adds more time to take it on and off
Excellent review 😎👌👌,,,, I had a GoPro hero 4 silver , very good camera but I didn’t really have much use for it and it’s a bit fiddly to use and end up selling it ,but with a drone , I can actually have a bit of fun with it plus recording video and taking photos
I’ve been researching Drones and the Parrot Anafi seems to tick every box , flight time , camera quality and ease of use etc l I will be buying a parrot Anafi 😎👌👌👌👌
Yes it ticked all of the same boxes for me as well. Enjoy your Parrot Anafi when you get it. Thanks for the comment
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography OK, thanks!
Thanks for the video. What are your preferred video settings with the Anafi?
Hi Matt I am still trying to find that out. I did spend one day testing out all of the different video settings but the weather and the lighting that day was very changeable (typical Irish weather) so it was difficult to tell which setting worked best. I need a good day with consistent light so that all of the test are the same. This is on my list of things to do. When I do I might make a video on it. So to answer your question most of the video's that I have taken with it is with the default setting except for my Fair Head video. I filmed in P-Log with this and edited it later. Have a look at the video to see if it looks any different.
Why is the video choppy? Anyone else notice stuttering in the footage?
So far as of 1/16/2020 this is the best anafi footage so far. did u use auto settings, filters, etc? Very nice. Thank's.
I have tried different video settings and filters but I found that the default auto settings seems to be best for most situations. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you for the tutorial
Your welcome I am glad you liked it
Great video amazing footage!
Thanks
I couldn't decide which drone I wanted Mavic Air or Anafi
But I decided to go for the Mavic Air
I already had some problems wiith a Parrot Bebop 1 drone and some toy drones from parrot so I didn't want to get another drone that breaks a month later,
When I got my Bebop 1 I got more than 100 crashes in a month and I just landed in snow during the winter and the camera is still blurry since then
And now I have my Mavic Air also a month and I got not even 1 crash
Anafi is a great drone but it has no Obstacle avoidance, and the mavic air has some more and a little better quickshot modes
I like the anafi but I went for the mavic air, and i'm SUPER happy with it!
I am glad you found a drone you are happy with. The Mavic Air does have many more obstacle avoidance sensors to help to avoid crashes. Thanks for the comment
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography :) no problem, good luck with your anafi
Really liked this man.. just got mine not used it yet, but you have given me some great ideas... question.. I have an scooter can i get it to follow me at any level??? Cheers keep up the great work, great video.
Hi Carl. The Anafi does have the ability to follow an object. A car is large and easy to follow. A person is small and can be followed as well because they do not move fast. A scoter is small and fast so the Anafi may struggle to follow you but the only way to find out is to try it. I hope you enjoy your new Anafi
@@ShawnWilliamsPhotography Thank you Sean.
Great video!
Need a file download
I got ND/PL filters for better video. But you don't want filters for still shots because you want as fast a shutter speed as possible. I like my Anafi for hiking and for around people because it is quiet and unintimidating. Parents at a park playground were unconcerned. But it is a second shooter for my Phantom 4 Pro (when it is not bricked by No-Fly Zones, unlike the Anafi).
Thanks Paul. Do you notice a difference in the quality of the Phantom 4 Pro video compared to the Anafi?

Thanks Paul these are good videos
Awesome video.
Thanks!
tough little drone that travels well. small and discrete carry case. goes everywhere
Yes it is very compact when it is folded away
I use this drone for my videos, it's a very good.
I am happy with the Anafi so far. Thanks for the comment
Good thing I stopped using the cover before that happened to me. Thanks for the advice.
Really good informative video, am looking at buying myself my first drone and this Parrot Anafi fits the bil nicely, so thanks for the great video, consider yourself sub'd.
Thanks for the great feedback!
