Thank you guys very much for watching!

Cuirassiers are the coolest troops of 19th century!I got 2 questions: were cuirassiers ever used in colonial warfare (ie outside europe),and if Im correct cuirassier pallasch was used all the way from napoleonic wars till 1914? One more thing how common were cuirassiers after Germans beat the French in 1871 cause I red that they were destroyed at the battle of Sedan by German infantry fire.
Hello, Cuirassiers are really the coolest looking troops when it comes to cavalry. I dont know of any colonial battle where european style cuirassiers were used by the colonial powers. And yes, at least german cuirassier used their Pallasches 1854 all the way until 1916 when they dismounted from their horses to form infantry like brigades. Both the french as well as the prussians used their heavy calvalry in some spectacular ways during the war, most of the time with really high casulties. The prussian 7th Cuirassiers lost 50% of their man during the battle of Mars-la-Tour but at least they could stop the french artillery before retreating. During the ballte of Wörth the french 9th cuirassiers were massacred by prussian rifle fire while charging into a village. Although one would think that a war like the franco-prussian war with breechloading rifles and everything would have changed the mind of the military leaders of the time when it comes to cavalry but it didn't. France had 12 cuirassier regiments in 1914 and prussia used 10. With kind regards, Vincent.
I only disagree with one point.
The coolest by far were the Leibhusaren or Totenkopfhusaren XD
Vincent: I will do the pix of the Mod 1817 that I just obtained and send them on shortly..Do you want still or moving pix of this Palosch? I need to get a grey blanket and I can make the shots......
I have been looking for the Russian Pattern for 40+ years, they do not turn up here in the US. According to Paul Pietsch, the even numbered Kuerassiern Regts used the Russian Pattern, Including the Garde Kuerrasiern, The Garde du Corps, and the odd numbered units used the French model. I do not know for sure if this is true, but Pietsch thought it was so...
It seems like they do not turn up often anywhere. Pretty hard to find a original one. There are some fakes out there. I heard to theory with the even und uneven numbers before but cant tell anything about it. Could be right though.
The only Pallaschs 1819 that i know of with legit unit markings are marked to either the guard cuirassier regiment or the Feld-Gendarmerie. I cant remember seeing one with a line-cuirassier regimental mark but i will look through my stuff again. Maybe ill find something.
I WAS ABLE TO FIND THE 1732 PRUSSIAN PALLASCH ON E BAY AN ENLISTED MANS WEAPON..A RARE SWORD..ALSO FOUND THE 1819 RUSSIAN MODEL PRUSSIAN PALLASCH..ANOTHER RARE WEAPON..USED BY THE GARDE DU CORPS..ALONG WITH THE 1817 MODEL..S.L.
Those are some really rare prussian swords, especially the 1732 cuirassier sword is nearly impossible to find. Even though i usually only collect prussian weapons after the napoleonic wars, i hope i will own a 1732 sword one day. Congratulations!
