Seeing that only 25k have graduated has made me want to sign back up because before I thought the market would be over saturated. Mostly it's my fear getting in my own way
To be brutally honest, if you finish just the first segment of the google course and do some extra UI work (my courses for example) chances are you'll get a job in UX/UI quite fast as it's more than enough to just get the foundations from Google. If you have more time or want to become a researcher definitely finish 1-4 of Google, and you can stop there, as segment 5 is not that great and 6+7 are just repeating 1-5.
I think I finished modules 1-3.. maybe 4 as well. I decided not to renew my subscription. I felt that I already knew everything from the course, and some of the UX methodologies are overrated in real projects. I learn much more from people like you or Mike Locke
Great to hear! 1-3 are where most of the knowledge is at anyway and good thing you didn't get to part 5 which I think is the least useful of them all ;)

If you have the course then I'll just go and buy it and practice it as much as I can to make great UI for web apps and stand out in the market. Thanks :)
nice content, I feel it's rather repetitive since we've already heard those saying of 5 proects, a course won't automatically get you a job so on. also people will eventually realize that and were to actually experience it better as soon as it happens. you've put "professional" in quotation since you got some criticism adn I get that but didn't actually gave an equal to better alternative, right now there's none. when it comes to finding hi-tech positions
Hey, for a while now I think I'll stop doing course reviews as they take a very long time, but of course this may change eventually. I'll try to do high-level reviews though
I just finished my Google UX Course last week, I have a portfolio with 3 case studies but no real-world UX experience yet. And I did ask myself that question, NOW WHAT?! I also started applying for entry-level jobs and I haven't heard any good news as of writing. I know I have to keep learning and expand my knowledge but I am puzzled which e-book to purchase. Which one do you think can help me boost my portfolio and hopefully help me get a job? I appreciate you for making this valuable content and replying to almost every comment.
I wouldn't go with an ebook first, but I can say honestly (and not as an ad) that my courses (both bundles, but especially mobile app ui 1 and creating case studies from UI projects) have already helped a lot of people get the job - to many they filled the gaps necessary to go from "so so" to "good". But you can also practice following some UI tutorials on RUclips - just growing your skills :) Also, for some basic knowledge we have some free eBooks at hype4academy.gumroad.com too :)
@@MalewiczHype I got the bundle for creating a case study. Just a quick question, do you use a UI kit for the phone mockups? It looks really neat and clean.
Michał could you please advise on the "good" amount of case studies in a portfolio? I heard that it's not great if you have too many of them. I was wondering how many can I have to not go overboard? Also, do you think it's a good idea to mix case studies like: some research only+mobile app (end2end design process)+web design+maybe analysis of existing app and ideas on how to improve it with some examples of UI redesign? On one hand, I think as a Designer you want to be creative and stand out, show your way of thinking and some design skills so why limit yourself but... on there other hand maybe there is some "golden standard" for a portfolio (in ex. only end2end design processes) one should follow to seem more pro?
The golden standard is to have things that are most commonly looked for (apps and websites) and then something else to highlight that you're not stuck in the app/website mindset - but it's up to you how you do it exactly :) That's the beauty of it - that portfolios can be very different, some can be purely research (but always make a nice visual cover for it anyway) and some can be just a grid of UI shots :)
is there really a job opportunity after taking this course? And what other training would you recommend after finishing it to boost a career in UX and be attractive in a job demand?
Very detailed video, but I'm kind of confused in the part where you said we should put our works first before a bit of what we do. Can you explain how these would help out? Because I've seen alot of portfolio starting with what they do 🙂
Work first because it's what people evaluate you by - when they see good work they are then interested to read more about who you are and what else you can do.
@@MalewiczHype Oh wow, Can you point me out to any portfolio like that so I can see and iterate to design my own portfolio? It's really hard to picture a portfolio like that 😅, so I'd need some guidance or inspiration. Thank you
One last question that others may have as well. So if I do the Google program or another, will I'll be able to get a job without a college degree? Like realistically
College degree is not necessary for about 90% of design jobs. The course is actually not needed either, but some skills from it help. Your portfolio is what most companies evaluate you by, so you can be 100% self-taught and still get a job!
Does the certification mean anything when applying for a job? I have experience from UX/UI but I am self taught and would like some sort of theoretics to back me up. Been away from the industry for a few years, doing digital marketing and want to get back in…
You can start my courses at the same time and actually skip part 5 of the Google UX Course as it's also about UI but it's much lower quality than mine. Parts 1-4 are quite good though, and they don't interfere with UI learning - it's even better to get more practice in early :)
No, I just started learning Spanish a month ago. It'll take a while before I learn, but I'm doing great so far, can order food at a restaurant for example. It'll be useful as I'm moving to Spain soon :)
@@MalewiczHype Wow! That is incredible. I am practicing English because I am Latino and my English is average. You should maybe subtitle your courses to Spanish. The google course was to me a very good introductory course. I had no idea what ux ui was... I just wanted a career change so I thought it could be good for me since I like web design... I finished the course and I realized ux is not for me, I am more interested in creating my own layouts and products, so after I finished it I started learning coding and I still use figma to design my own stuff, so I am glad I did it. I am still looking forward to learn more about design, which most developers don't care about...
Hi Sofia, so you're more of a UI / Front-end developer , that's also a really great combination with tons of potential - and from what I've noticed it's not as hostile as some hardcore UX people can get on social media - ui / developers are 99% very nice and welcoming - so good choice! Some developers do care about design, we started hiring developers at our design agency years ago by teaching them design and it allowed us to really grow and change the quality of the stuff we do :)
This is what I did after I finished the course. Currently I work full time and I also have freelance clients. Thank you for everything you do

Hey! I'd say yes, but if you want to design UI then better switch to my RUclips tutorials and possibly my courses on that and use Google Course for the UX principles (segments 1-4) - age doesn't matter when you're good - and you get good with practice :)
Really great!! and when you said, "I believe in you" that's really inspiring me...
Thanks! I do because we have a great, hard working community here and I know you can accomplish great things :)
Are courses on Uxcel as good as those of Google? I am not for certificates, just want to learn something.
I haven't tried the ones on uxcel yet, I know some people think they're good.
Hi guys looking for a little help. I finished the course, have 4 projects on my portfolio and now as Malewicz said I'd like to focus more on the UI, and I'd like to learn more of either Illustrator or Photoshop. What do you gyus think? Which tool would be better?
Learn Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD instead of photoshop or illustrator :)
@@MalewiczHype I know figma and Adobe XD already :) I forgot to mention that... Thanks for the replay Malewicz :) I'll give sketch a go
Is it possible to do job in google as a UX Designer after completing these courses?
It is possible but highly unlikely. Also big companies are pausing hiring right now because of the recession. It does help to learn UX though.
@@MalewiczHype wow thanks for this quick reply!
So what should I do if I want a job as UX Designer at Google?
Why do you want to work at Google?
@@MalewiczHype I'm from Bangladesh. Actually it is highly fascinating to the people of our country to work at one of the world's biggest tech giant google. Very few people from my country get chance to work at Google. You can say that I want to work at Google for social status and money, which I think everybody wants😅
I will be grateful to you if you advice me from your experience which is better, working at google or other companies or working as a freelancer. Thanks in advance!
I started 2 weeks ago and I'm actually on course 2, and I kinda feel like stuck due to lack of motivation but I think your video is getting me the extra strength I need right now. 🫶🏻😁
I applied for financial aid for all 7 courses, I applied for the first 2 courses and then the rest. Therefore, I really appreciate this opportunity and believe that I can complete all of them and get the best results from these courses, and also to build an attractive portfolio.
Thank you for the valuable content you share. ❤
Ux and vr
I want to talk a bit more about the UX of VR this year - definitely :)
Nice vid, thanks
Yo 🙌
@@MalewiczHype yo, I was almost late to watch Ur vid 🤭
Glad you made it then! :) Which tip do you think was the best one?
@@MalewiczHype exploring beyond mobile app or a website, and maybe giving a try to wearable os
loved the video but too much shameless plugging
Sounds like a Ux engineer
Which is what I want to be
Some points I agree on and some points naaahhhhh nope nope.
How did you read my mind ?
I’m psychic maybe ;)
