Many folk put greene king in the same bracket as Marstons...greene king are much better..I'm always happy enough to throw back an old speckled/ Abbott Ale down my neck in the pub. I had this Ruddles County back in the day when the Brewery was independent. Decent. Nice one Graeme🍺
Yeah, Greene King has their good sides and bad sides. They are nowhere near as bad as Marston's and their bottles of disappointment. GK will never deliver a great pint, but they can deliver a nice pint. Yeah, Ruddles was a good brewery back in the day and unfortunately this beer has lost some character since then. Looking back, some breweries should have been kept independent. Cheers Dave. 👍🏻
My late Father was a Musician, so enjoyed a good Ale and a Whisky socially after work. He used to enjoy that Beer in small dark Bottles (in a pack of 4 or 6 I forget) on the weekend at home when I was young.
Yeah, a nice pleasant beer that was probably a lot better when your father was enjoying it. Unfortunately things change and while this beer is still nice, it has lost some character over the years. 👍🏻

I used to enjoy county 30 plus years ago, I’m sure it used to be closer to 5% alcohol though. I could barely make it to closing time…
Yeah, it was around 5% in the cask many years ago. Still a good pleasant beer that has suffered over time by changes that didn't need to be changed. 👍🏻
