Hell yeah! I just bought the second one I've owned. I got it for $50 off a friend who upgraded it with a vxl brushless setup, slash bumper, and wheelie bar with anodized blue wheels. Deal of the year, right there!
Taylor Nicole, theoretically yes you can. But the stampede is a monster truck and it may not handle super well compared to a truck designed for racing.

The Slash 2wd and 4wd are great beginner trucks. Not because they're actually good, because they're not, but they're very easy to work on and customize making for an easy and approachable learning experience that will be passed on to other rigs
Some nice little rigs on the list. I think for an extra 50 the losi mini 8 is a great deal as well, 4x4 and brushless. The mini z 4 runner is awesome as well but I think it is 209 or something like that.
I can definitely vouch for the Tenacity SCT if it's anything like the TEN SCTE. I've got the full-on competition level version with a full brushless setup and it's equally happy tearing up the backyard or dominating the track. That being said I really have a love-hate relationship with SCTs. They definitely revitalized the hobby at a time when the economy was threatening to kill expensive hobbies like this, but at the same time they also kinda killed off a lot of the other off-road classes. You pretty much don't see stadium trucks, monster trucks or truggies at tracks anymore, regardless of size or power system, and 1/10th scale buggies would have suffered the same fate if it wasn't for the Socal scene keeping them alive. Even the previously indomitable 1/8th scale buggy class took a nasty hit from Short Course Mania. It's unfortunate, but in most places if you want to race off-road and don't want to put down the money for a 1/8th scale buggy, or if you just want to race in general but don't want to spend money on a top-end carbon fiber touring or pan car, your only real options at this point are slow hack, 4wd hack or too much power hack. And now even short course is falling off because people got tired of the inevitable hack races that happened in the SCT classes.
I recently got a *Laegendary* (it's spelled wrong on purpose) Legend 1:10 RC and it goes over 30 mph, its super durable, and I got it for $150 on Amazon. The only thing that is a slight downside is the battery life - around 30-80 minutes depending on how much you're using it. Other than that I would say it's a great present for ages 10+!
Please make a video on "Top 5 (or 10) 1/8 nitro rc buggy" (pro kits and not rtr) and comparisions between them, which chassis suits which driving style and track. I would love to see that type of content !!
Do you know if the brushed version and brushless version share parts? I’d like to get the brushed version for my dad and let him go brushless at his own pace so if the brushless parts fit the brushed version that’d be perfect since I assume the brushed version would need some driveline upgrades
It's a lot of fun. I got one a few years back. It's a blast. And you can get an adapter to run 2 batteries to get super long run time. Also do double voltage with a different adapter, but the stock electronics don't support that only the brushless version or if you upgrade to aftermarket. But i smash around the snow, the grass, the pavement. LOTS OF FUN!! It's a bit heavy with both batteries. I was using standard 6 cell. I think maybe a little too much for the suspension. I bought some heavy weight oil to try to even that out. Or maybe lipo batteries would lighten things up.. either way..Hope you pick on up and get to bash around with it. I highly recommend if a small truck is what you're looking for.
They are a blast, I have the vxl brushless with dual batteries for longer run, (adaptor needed) and I also upgraded the oil in the suspension, awesome rc.
I had the OG Losi mini t in silver nany years ago and I loved that thing. I had countless hours bashing it and it kept going. I had no idea Losi made a 2.0 version. I'll def have to get 1 soon. Great video and great list choice 😎👍
You could add the Volcano18 from RedCat there, $83 for a 1/18 4wd Monster Truck and it comes with everything. I even do a brushless conversion to mine and she is a beast 25+mph on 2s, 3s is insane.
I have a DHK razr-r2 brushes converted over to a brushless n I run it in a 3s lipo and this truck is pretty much indestructible!! It hasn’t broken down n it keeps goin n goin all for under $200..it’s my best truck n my fleet so it should be here on this list!!

Awesome video. Was looking for something like this too. Only complaint is not sure it's a fair comparison if some come with a battery pack and some don't. I can see the little transmitter batteries cause that's give or take a few dollars but battery packs can be give or take much more. Still a very helpful video. As much as I don't like the short course track body style, I may end up getting a Slash. Who knows. 😃
the Losi TENACITY was such an amazing rc that it has already been discontinued, you know what else i find amazing, is that they could easily make all the cars in this video lipo and brushless powered for about the same cost as brushed but they don't because then they wouldn't be able to leach any more money out of people when they are forced to buy a bunch of upgrade parts so the car will perform like they claim it does in the video.........
I have the tenacity and you really need a brushless system and the proformance kit from Losi. The plastic chassis is super weak up at the front where it becomes skinnier and has a bottom loading battery tray. Other than those things it is still pretty good just be prepared to make a couple of upgrades. Also it has no third party upgrades from proline and others expect for wheels bodies and shocks.
Dylan White I was jumping it and I miss judged and miss the jump and braked but it hit a tree before it completely slowed down. It wasn’t going very fast but you should be good if you aren’t too rough with it. The two time my plastic chassis broke it broke in the exact same way and even had extremely similar breakage patterns. If you have a tenacity then try to get the proformance kit from Losi. It is only $100 and has metal chassis, turnbuckles and sway bars, metal shocks. It is really great but make sure you don’t lose any parts or strip things when building it like I did.
Will Shealy good to know. I did hear about the pro kit and I think I’ll probably put that on the Christmas list. For now I bought the brushed edition as I didn’t really have a lot of $ to play with and already have different brushless trucks I like better than my slash. I love mine too! I wish they’d come out with some upgrades for it though.
@@jwilley1991 well they do have one... but it's still just one. the machined brass steering knuckles provide some much needed front end weight.
Timothy Brown oh cool! The last time I looked it said they were coming soon or something like that. It could definitely use a little weight up front
