The 2 biggest plotholes that come to mind about this series are:
1. Why didn't any of the remaining z fighters on earth use the dragon ball to wich back Gohan once they realized he was missing?
2. They also could've used the dragon balls to find his location and go on a rescue mission to get him
I already brought up the first plot hole, as gohan would be doing training with vegeta and nappa during the two years before the gang could use the Dragon balls he'd be stronger then Kami and therefor Shenron couldn't take him back to earth without his permission.
For the second point, although they might do this I doubt they would as there's no way they could contest with the saiyan's powers and the earthlings would know that so they wouldn't try anything as it's really too late
