This human-like robot made by a Chinese start-up weighs 30 plus kilograms, is highly mobile and speedier than what it was last year.
What sets it apart from other humanoid robots is its surprisingly low price.
Priced at about 13,000 dollars, it beats Tesla’s Optimus which costs around 20,000 U.S. dollars.
And that’s not all. It can turn 180 degrees. And is remarkably stable, with a height of 127 centimetres. Called G1, it possesses powerful motor capabilities and intelligent learning abilities.
Affordable, smarter and more agile humanoid robots are the highlight at the five-day World Robot Conference, currently underway in Beijing. A company from Sichuan Province has exhibited a robot that can distinguish cylinder from cuboid items. And also distinguish between edible from inedible materials. There are even smarter machines that can write Chinese letters on paper. And those that can walk down a staircase and on difficult terrain. They have been upgraded from the earlier versions. Equipped with enhanced leg joints, such robots can carry heavier loads and run at a faster speed. By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence into robotics, Chinese innovators are trying to unite and combine upstream and downstream enterprises for creating more advanced and intelligent machines. A research team led by a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has built a virtual factory for the design and assembly of humanoid robots. The idea is to facilitate the simulation and verification process before real production. Demand for humanoid robots is on the rise and the sector holds a lot of promise, as some robot makers say. Humanoid robots apart, their canine counterparts are also being put to effective use. Robot dogs have been deployed for rescue operations and firefighting. They aid rescuers by entering hazardous environments with toxic gases or extreme heat for the first round of detection.
