“America” for Latin Americans is the whole continent. United States is the country. It’s quite confusing when Americans or other nationals refer to it as America.
It is not confusing at all. The name of the country is America. Therefore it is called America
The problem is USA's name is too generic. Kind vague. No offenses though😅 They call it this way because they wouldn't predict that other colonies would want to be free from their colononizers, I guess. It was the first nation to do that, they were located in the continent of America, they'll adopt the organization of states instead of provinces and they'll united in this new kind of state, so United States of America. 🤷♂️
its not confusing, yall are jusg bring densd over names on purpose. United States of Mexico > Mexico; United States of America > America
Voces soam ridiculos pq é evidente que ninguém leva a sério, é patetico e mediocre e faz a gente passar vergonha
As a Chilean, I agree with most of what the Chilean girl said. This happens too with countries like Argentina and Uruguay due to larger European migration to these countries; nothing wrong with it, and it doesn't have to be something "good", it's just natural due to historical factors. I will say that the "being late" part does happen a lot in Chile, and not only from my experience.
The thing about leaving the parent's home, in Brazil at least, is that the majority of young adults would love to get out of their parent's house, but it is EXPENSIVE, for the majority of brazilians it is not a choice, and if you really want to get out you will have a really hard life, will pay a lot to live in really cheap house located at not that safe and cool neighbourhoods.
And I think the stereotype here in Brazil if you get out home, it is not necessarily a marriage, but it happens already in couples before marriage.
it really depends in wich state u are. Im in south (SC), where im from, is kinda great to leave the house... u can have stability in safer neighbourhoods, and normally the houses are kinda good, even if is a little bit more expansive, normally people can make money to pay... or, if u dont have that amount of cash, u can still find great places. But i agree with u in the part where is hard to leave the parents house. Cuz honestly, is better, if u work, u can come back from the work, tired, and have someone to help u out, with food, clean stuff and etc...
@@nailer10 families are meant to be together. Brasil has always been a United States copycat. Unless there is a really good reason to leave your parents house (unsafe, work related or marriage/prospect of marriage) do not leave, your parents need you too. America’s youth is lost and more depressed than ever, a young person shouldnt reject a safe landing cushion. How does that saying goes? In the winter the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives. Humans come in tribes, dont resist our natural unit so much.
@@southamericunt6354 agreed 100% my brother
@@southamericunt6354 Parents need you because for disgrace in some countries in LATAM the money they earn by their job/ or the retirement money is not enough.
If you dont start to be inpendent you never gonna know what is like to be by yourself and when your parents d1e and the rest of your family turns their back on you that thing is gonna be much harder for you.
In *_Mexico,_* arriving late is not a _"norm"_ as some foreigners asume it is. _E.g.,_ in military, academic or work environments arriving late is not normal or expected. Such expectations are more relaxed only in *SOME* informal instances.
same in Brazil. Jobs will fire you if you arrive late, you will have problems at school if you arrive late
Yeah, it really depends on the situation.
Exactly, it depends!
In Costa Rica we have something called "La hora tica" and yeah its about a tendency to arrive late.
But we are disciplined af when it comes to formal appointments and interviews of any kind.
@@FallenLight0 depends on the job. I was the only one to arrive on time in my first job, everyone else arrived an hour late... And I was just a part-timer at first.

Interesting how people from Latin America don't live in the best place to live in the world , these are the Nordics , and yet they always seems like way happier , friendly and enjoy life more than the Nordics
@@vtr.Lisboaas a mexican i prefer living in a cold place than in Mexico😂 is way more depressing living in Mexico trust me
Only woke leftists would say Nordic countries are the _"best place to live in"._
@@xolotlmexihcah4671 but that's the truth based in actual statistics, nordic countries have the highest development compared to rest of the world. Some other european countries are also part of this group of great countries, such as switzerland, netherlands, belgium etc
@@Hunchbackswift Life and happiness can't be reduced to statistics. Beyond the public commercials, I know first hand what is happening in countries like Norway, Sweden or Denmark. I also know the opinion of several actual Native Scandinavians about their current systems, stuff that they don't even have the freedom to talk about in their home countries. It is not a coincidence such Natives are searching for other countries to live in.

A study was done by a Vermont university on languages on the internet. They found that the Spanish language followed in second place by Brazilian portuguese are the happiest languages on the planet. English was third.
In Brazil there is a law on child aggression, it has been a crime for a few years. I think it's sad that there has to be a law to show people that attacking a child is the same as attacking an adult, it's aggression, and abuse, is a human. Many people still have violent attitudes towards flip-flops, belts, etc., but it is decreasing and becoming less and less tolerable. Generally, those who still tolerate and practice it are people who were attacked in this way in childhood, are traumatized and don't know it, and think it's not a problem. Of course there is a lot of humor around this subject, but it is something very serious and needs to end.

Another thing they don’t mention is we are more religious in some generations, for example in my family when we said goodbye to the matriarch, la abuelita, we ask her to give us a blessing, o la bendición, all the kids and adults ask this before leaving so as to be protected.
In some parts in Brasil when we greet anyone we say it
Once again, I find it puzzling how some titles can perpetuate misconceptions. World Friends, Have you ever considered the possibility that Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Brazil and so many other countries are also part of America? Therefore, labeling people from these countries as "Latin girls" is somewhat wrong they should be recognize as AMERICANS. Referring to the region as "Latin America" makes no sense at all. Firstly, "Latin" refers to a language, not a race. By this logic, inhabitants of the United States and parts of Canada would be labeled as "Anglo-Americans," while Quebec would fall under "Latin-America" category due to its French-speaking population. Moreover, countries in America where Dutch or other languages are spoken also challenge this simplistic classification. Why do people assume that everything "under" USA is just "Latins"? Even within Spanish-speaking countries like Uruguay and Argentina, there are significant cultural, musical, behaviour, etc. differences. It's unfair to lump them all together simply because they share a common language. It's important for people, especially those from the United States, to improve their geography skills and recognize the diversity within the America. Confusing race with language and continent with only 1 country leads to prejudice and oversimplification. I believe this oversight may also affect people from India. When people refer to "Asian countries," they often overlook India, which is also part of Asia. The feeling of not being recognized as part of one's own continent can be frustrating. Imagine if only Italy were considered Europeans, while the rest of the continent were labeled "euro-something" - it just doesn't make any sense at all! AMERICA IS A CONTINENT, and everyone born in ANY COUNTRY IN AMERICA ARE AMERICANS.
Finalmente alguém falando a real.
Calm down bro, they already had done a video which they call them Americans. It is much easier to define Latin America, since there are some important differences to Canada and USA. And in geography, Québec counts as Anglo-Saxon America for the same reason as the Guiana's countries do not count as part of Latin American, but as a Caribbean country. If you just consider the language as Latin root or geography, you will lose the cultural approach from these countries.
All would be easy if we name ourselves as the truth...
People from any country of Asia it’s called Asian, the same in Africa, Europe and Oceania. Sadly in our continent we can’t just be called Americans, cause the US make themselves the title of Americans, and so, the rest of the continents would only see them as such.
The whole thing about North-America and South-America is stupid, cause that happened in all the continents. Like, doesn’t matter if you are from Japan or India, you still be called as Asian, nor if you’re from Portugal or Norway, you sill European. Even though, Central-America it’s a thing, but none count them if you still wanted to separate north to south as a different continents.
We are not the Americas, we are from America as one, from Canada to Tierra del Fuego. Latin-America and Hispanic-America it’s a wrong word to be separate and mentioned, just Americans would do thing easier and united. It’s like a joke I’ve hear:
"You know the avengers, each of them are in the organization, but what if one of them decides to called themselves as “The Avanger” like, they’re all avengers?"
The best comment here, congrats!
I agree with you 100%

As a brazilian I have identified myself with all of those affirmations: left the house only after marriage, got hit with slippers when I was a kid, have a REALLY BIG family... and arrive late at family parties (I usualy try not too, but I am always afraid of arriving TOO early and ending up disturbing the preparations)

In Costa Rica, the greeting with kiss is only between ***close*** friends of opposite sex and between women. If you try to do it with acquaintances is awkward. Also in work situations is awkward and frowned upon. After covid even more so. After getting married I no longer salute anyone or allow anyone to salute me with a kiss. I make sure to keep a good distance to prevent anyone from even trying. I hug close friends, male and female, though. But that's me most Costa Ricans are definitively NOT huggers.
I don't feel represented by the Chilean girl. It's definetely not the standard to be on time which is why you would say "let's hang out by X oclock" in order for people to meet at X:30 or so lmao
Italian here. But i dont identify myself with almost any of this point. I m from the norther Italy. Many of the poin said in the video is very correct for southner Italy. But this is linked to Italyan History. The south has been under the control of Spain for 2 century. North have had lot of cultural exchange with France and the german speaking population. So we are in reality a mix.
And you shouldn’t because latin americans are not the same as latin Europe.
But the kiss greeting, you guys only do it in southern Italy?

The Mexican girl must be from the north because... living together without getting married is pretty common (even in the north, although they tend to be more conservative).
Natives of America, like the Bolivian and Peru have more indigenous roots/culture, and not Latin.

I'll be so forever shocked when you can find a Costa Rican hahahah
No, no, no, no, noooo, what Daniela said about Living with Parent Before Marry is not completely accurate. Yes, there are some cities and small towns where society thinks that you should get married to be able to move out of the home (I have lived in a lot of deferents cities, from north to south so I know that is not as common as she is depicting it to be, maybe is half and half) and that's quickly changing. Especially when we go to college there's a lot of people that move to another town for that. And to be honest we live with our parents until we get married because most of the time we can't afford to move out. After getting married, in most couples, both persons work, so there's two incomes that can make affordable to move out. And yes, some of us, we try to live with our partner before marriage.

Funk and Samba are huge in Brazil, pretty much nationalwise - but there's many more popular dances in massive regions up to the size and population of most other latin american countries... forró, for instance (which is nowadays near to mostly known abroad sertanejo).
Also there's pleny music styles which doesn't requires dancing for chill or enjoy it.
We are diverse. Don't put us all in the same basket
For example, here in Chile the suicide rate is quite high, with 9.3 per 100.000 persona. (Spain is 7.7) *Data taken from WHO 2024

I prefer the 🇪🇸 mañana culture over 🇫🇮 Finland's punctuality. For me, it's either the performance or the punctuality, not both. Probably that's why I felt more at home in the Spanish (my major) classes at the uni than in those of English (my minor). In high school, I barely got through in the languges (English, Swedish and Spanish) because everything seemed so heavily focused on the punctuality (or that's how I perceived it). people keep talking like: “we are not Latinos”, “Latin America doesn’t exist”. BORING. That’s not only about history, that’s about a political and cultural identity. Recognize yourself as a Latino is assume your culture. A culture that for centuries has been minimized by the europeans. Our land was stolen and exploited and we keep dealing with the consequences of all the depredation. So, the way how we are loud, warm and happy it’s just a way of resistance beyond so much suffering along the time
You're talking about native indigenous people, not "latinos". It was their lands and their cultures that were affected and minimised (though not deleted) by foreigners as it's always happened in every single country that's ever existed. But you must remember that those foreigners (Europeans) soon became also part of the locals when they mixed with the Indigenous people and with the Africans that were brought and, guess what!, we're their offspring. We're the children of Europeans, Africans and Native Americans, therefore our cultureS are a mix of European, Native American and African heritage. That's what makes us mestizos and "latinos". Denying one of those elements that make up our identity is like denying yourself.

Sorry but the girl of Panama I don’t know if she really is from our country or hasn’t experienced the whole scene like people are always late to parties the latest the best

Latino no caso é quem fala lingua latina, portugues, espanhol, francês, italiano, etc..
I’m Brazilian, I’m no Latino…
HAHAHAAH WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ????
well if a Latino bites you, it is contagious
