      Hi Lisa. One of the most essential barriers existing in front of the prefabricated housing industry is module transportation problems. whereas Florida is flat and has no high hills, it is one of the best places for the growing prefabricated housing industry. on the other hand, prefab homes can be concrete-based as conventional homes are.

      Prefab is less if you prefab the budget yourself. If you work with company a pre fab is not cheaper than the average comparisons in the local area. Only good reason to go with pre fab builders is that you don't have to wait months for your house to be finished built.

      You will not make it sustainable for precision, materials and method of makes for sustainability, precision and no waste. The waste of time, energy and waste will not be worth it. The whole point of modular is to have a system that reduces the time of construction and installation while including materials that will make the home safer against climate disaster, more energy efficient, and cost effective. The more people stop trying to do things themselves the higher the price of housing going up. There are tons of technology, for each price range. Let progress take hold and leave a 250 year old industry stay in the past.

      But these homes come with built ins, electric, plumbing, solar, sometimes beds, entire bathrooms and kitchens. I’d you do your moms basement like that with High end materials and massive windows it would be the same. They use high end building and finishes. And they can be dropped anywhere. So that includes PERMITTING, custom building, shipping, and dropping it off on the foundation.
      You can’t have that for less than 300 a square foot because it’s not comparable. A basement isn’t the same as the cost of permits, building, shipping. Net zero abilities, solar, foundation, plumbing, electrical, and a modern interior and exterior.. go to Kerry T’s channel for affordable and proper information. This video isn’t helpful.

    When will someone cover modular or prefabs that are well built but reasonably priced. I know they are out there somewhere. Along with that depressing price everything was included? Is that true - everything? You are actually hooked up to all utilities not just ready to be hooked up to utilities? The foundation is included in that price? Everything but furniture? Kitchen and bath equipment? I did not watch the entire video after sq ft price was announced.

    I think these companies are jumping on the "tech does it better" bandwagon and none of the evidence points to these actually being a viable alternative to just building a property on-site in the traditional way we have done for decades. "each property is unique and can be modified to your needs", that's an extract from one of their websites, they might make them in a factory but essentially are doing the same thing a builder would do on-site, building a frame to your specs...
    For each of these properties, I could hire a local firm to build the same thing on-site using timber frame construction for half the cost they are advertising.

    • @bad_uncle
      @bad_uncle 2 года назад +5

      If you just want a house on your property, you don't care about the technology and site impact doesn't concern you, then traditional building is for you. But if you want custom home built with better efficiency, environmentally responsible, less wasteful and the least impact on the construction site, consider a well designed factory built house. It will probably be finished quicker and less cost overruns too. Sure you can hire a timber frame builder but you'd better pick a design from their catalog if you want the best results. As long as you choose a good prefab builder, a semi-automated factory is intrinsically a better way to construct a house. Before they built cars in a factory, there were coachbuilders. There are not many of them around anymore for a reason.

    It would be nice to focus on prefab homes only being built and used in the USA, not European market. Also, listing their affordability due to the fact that some of these homes are simply unaffordable to purchase. Well, you can purchase an “affordable” pre fab or home, but you need the land, permits, contractors etc many of these homes are not being allowed to be used in certain states or cities due to government red tape and restrictions. Makes no sense to mention builders outside of the United States.
