    The section about white / coloured flowers having different coloured stems and foliage made me smile - that's how I tell my cosmos seedlings apart! The pink and red ones have reddish stems whereas white are always pale.

    Salmon star lupine is a beauty! Haven’t seen it here in the USA. Proven Winners has it on their website , but not for sale so I guess there must be some that carry it, but nowhere I know. Sure wish I could shop at your nursery! It always cracks me up how you sell plants straight out of your garden sometimes when people ask. I have been a subscriber for many years, sure hope Teddy is well, haven’t seen him in a while, and this isn’t the first time you’ve dug up a plant to sell. 😊. My family is of Irish descent and while you and I aren’t much different in age, you remind me quite a bit of my grandfather from decades ago . I guess some Irish gentlemen just have a similar bone structure. Or, who knows, perhaps we are long lost cousins many times removed. 😊

    Always an enjoyable journey through your beautiful gardens! Have been watching you for several years but have never commented until now. Your videos are so entertaining, full of useful info. and your great sense of humor makes me laugh. I am 77 yrs. and still creating new garden beds, love having my hands in the soil. I live in upstate New York, in the finger lakes region, zone 5a/5b. This year has been awesome, about a month ahead for our growing season. I thank you for sharing all your plant growing knowledge, you do a wonderful job. 😊Gail

    I know what it is you can't get its name! It's an American native called Geum Triflorum or Prairie Smoke. I grow it here, well at least what you have looks related to it. Leaves are the same but prairie smoke blooms are different like pink rubber bracts and then fluffy seed heads that look like a Dr. Suess book plant.

    Greetings from South Africa. Your garden is looking just beautiful. Just goes to show that plants only grow with rain, here we are bone dry having to use tap water, just keeps things alive but they do very little and take ages to grow and fill out, even thou we have sun every day even in winter.

    Oh my word those lupine! Incredible color. Wish I could easily grow them.
    I grew ‘Black Prince’ snapdragon. It’s a gorgeous, dark, velvety red bloom with dark foliage. The plants overwintered well in US zone 6 and are huge this year. I assumed they didn’t have a scent but I sniffed them while cutting back and they smell just like grape candy! That’s a keeper.

    The geranium Catherine Deneuve is a great plant with gorgeous dark magenta star shaped flowers. But in my opinion not suited for a solitary placement. It need other perennials close by to keep it from flopping.

    Greetings from the US John. I garden in Frankfort, Kentucky which is US growing zone 6B. I love watching your videos and have a question. We have had the wettest Spring this year in my area. I have six David Austin roses. Sadly, because of all the dampness thus far this year, three of my roses have lost all their foliage due to blackspot, rust, and insects. I've been spraying them with Neem oil weekly. I'm considering getting rid of all but two roses (sadly). My question is the space where I remove the rose is it safe to plant a peony or irises in its place? I've always heard you never plant a new rose where an old rose had grown. I was not sure if that would affect any other new plants. Thank you and Happy Gardening, James

    • @johnlordssecretgarden
      @johnlordssecretgarden  2 месяца назад +1

      No, it only applies to planting roses in the same spot as previous ones and even then you may not have any problems.
