I always get a huge kick out of seeing scratch build projects once they are primed, totally transformed into a professional looking model and no longer looks like random pieces of junk stuck together. Awesome video as always!
You have such a great neighbour. My current neighbour sometimes has loud pool parties. One of my old neighbours had loud pool parties but instead way louder and also at night when I would try to sleep
what impresses me the most most of the time about robot models is getting the joints right! takes alot of thought to make a real working joint, and if its a good replica of it, makes the model heaps better.
So sorry, you are 100% right... total respect to the LEGO parts, definitely not junk! 😃 They were actually amazing to work with and made the junk portions work.
Always an inspiration to watch. A real Star Wars style Imperial Walker. Looks like a mechanized combat walker droid . Love the storm troopers on the diorama
I think this is one of your best builds! It really has the Star Wars look to it. For a four legged walker you could glue two of the bodies end to end to give you the length for the two extra legs. Thanks for sharing this fantastic build.
If you plan on working with xps foam again, I would suggest getting a hot wire cutter (preferably with 2-3 tool attachments) they go for around $22 on Amazon. It will make working with foam much easier.
Try a Ice-pick and heat the tip just enough. Can Mold holes to almost any shape you want. Need bigger holes for bigger projects, Screw drivers work as well. Ice-pick is great for small and detailing square holes. Great stuff. I love Junk. I see all sorts of stuff in some of the most mundane items. I save a lot of junk to play with.
Dude this looks great!! I love the diorama look (one of my favorite things to build) and I love Boylei Hobby Time. His builds inspired some of my recent star wars dioramas (as well as your builds). Keep being that awesome toy nerd.
REALLY great building, my only problem is how build it in 28mm scale, the legs are the hardest part to do of a walker, this model show how menacing could be an imperial warbot! 👍
Fantastic job Dave! Being a diehard AFOL, I cringed when you cut up the lego. But...use what you got and the articulation makes it all the more fun in the finished piece. -DLH
Awesome droid walker build Doc!! With your quality paint and weathering this thing looks like it could be a professional kit. I love it, you have really mastered the SW aesthetic. I wouldn't be surprised to see this with a squad of stormtroopers patrolling a rebel-infested planet. Great stuff, thanks for sharing, and keep on keeping on!!
I primed some of my first minis with gritty automotive primer. I knew I had done something wrong, but I wasn't sure what. Eventually I stripped them, very slowly with simple green. It took several soak/toothbrush scrub sessions but I was able to s save them
I found your channel while trying to learn about wiring up small LEDs but I really love your videos. Sharing your thought process, your enthusiasm, as well as the quality of your work is so great! Keep it up!
Outstanding. getting better with every build ... would love to have you build me a Classic woodland camo Walker with forward and backward facing canons
That looks Super clean! 👏👏😍 you Always give me good ideas. So I Just found out My buddies kid works at Disneyland At the build your own droid Store. I told him I would pay him for any broken parts if you ever find any 🤦♂️ I hope I don’t get hem fired lol!! But anyways another amazing project!. 😎👍
You should get a KINGFOREST Pin Vise Hand Drill for Resin Casting Molds, Steel Hand Drill with 10 PCS Drill Bits (0.8-3 mm) from Amazon! They are only $7. The come with different size bits!
I actually just got that exact set... I have found the bits are kinda cheap and don't drill that well so I may need to invest in some better quality bits but I do like it! Thanks for the tip!😃👍
I have a funny story and it is gross as well. So I went to the Is grocery store in Albany, Oregon. There was a fart toy and I also had the dog rip it apart. It still made the fart noises for little while and laugh so hard as the dog broke it apart. It was the funniest memories and the dog was fine. He just had to much fun and I also laughed the afternoon. It is funny seeing a dog rip a stuffed animal that makes fart noises. Anyway happy holidays and I just hope you got what you wished for this Christmas.
I love it DR Toys, my personal backstory for this thing, as i was watching it.. AT- PD All Terrain Patrol Droid, what do you think? also its awesome that you gave a shout out to boylei hobby time, i watch both of you guys. amazing job!
Tums has a nice shape container right now. The one with a square lid. It looks they are switching to a round lid which ruins the look...in my head anyway. I go through like one large bottle per month unfortunately so I could make a fleet of Tums shaped rebel craft.
@@pacman10182 I thought of that. But given the size and function I thought a remotely piloted drone made more sense. Either way, it is only my personal suggestion. Ultimately the designation of the unit lies with the creator.
This is a great video. Did you scratch through the primer? Have you looked at scoring first then using a fine primer? I really enjoy your videos, keep them coming, please
Thanks so much. Yeah I've done it both ways but a lot of times I like to do it after I prime it because once it's primed I have a better idea of the overall look and feel. When you prime something like this it's almost magical how it all comes together!
"Mechaniclize"!! I love the sound of that!!

Couldn't agree more! It's almost magical! 😃
Bionicle ball-joints are a game changer. Strong, flexible, fuss free, model-glue compatible...
Just hard to find at garage sales!😂
I love the use of the mint container with the floss containers. Also the fact that it still opens is a great feature.
Thanks! As soon as I saw it I knew I had to make something out of it. 😀
It would be my favorite stash spot
Impressive diorama, imagine the Empire using this design to rule forest and jungle terrain planets in the galaxy.
Thanks so much!
That walker robot looks fantastic , l love the sense of scale with the Star Wars troopers , great job 👏 👍
Great Job Doc

Yeah, I'm still learning... Legs and arms are a pain! 😅
That is outstanding, Dave! As a junk builder myself, I love how these things progressively evolve from the initial idea.
Yeah... when doing stuff like this you just have to roll with what feels right and pray at the end it looks good! 😂
Love the Modge podge And tile grout
You can also sprinkle it on like dirt

Fantastic build Doc, great job on the base. 😎👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks amazing. I love seeing how it all comes together.

love this!!!

Yeah... I'm gonna stick to the standard primer...😂
