  • This year I conducted my active experiment on short, lawn length grass with urine, a mix of 50% urine and 50% water, and water; all applied at the same rate. Some of the observations of this were similar to past years while others were new.

I really appreciate you for doing this and sharing it. I've stopped wasting water whenever I need to pee (use an 11 liter bottle.) I'll dilute it with 80% water before applying to the grass and other plants.

Awesome video! 100% and 50% is too strong. Thank you for showing that and proving that. Great job 🎉

At least at the rate of application I was using.

I had great results adding pure urine at night {Thailand) However It was diluted by my beer consumption (back in the day) great video by the way and thank you.

Thank you very much. I was very curious to see this.
Check it out, Open AI’s Chat GPT says, “While urine can be a useful source of nitrogen and other nutrients for plants, it is important to dilute it with water before using it as a fertilizer to avoid damaging the plants. The ideal ratio of urine to water when using it as a fertilizer depends on several factors, such as the type of plant, soil conditions, and the concentration of nutrients in the urine.
As a general guideline, a good ratio to start with is one part urine to ten parts water. This means that you should dilute one part of urine with ten parts of water, which will give you a fertilizer solution that is approximately 1% urine. You can then use this solution to water your grass, making sure to apply it evenly over the entire lawn.
It is important to note that you should only use fresh urine that is free of any contaminants, such as medications or toxins. If you are taking medications or have any health conditions, it is best to avoid using your urine as a fertilizer.
Additionally, it is a good idea to test the pH of your soil before applying urine as a fertilizer, as urine can be quite acidic and may affect the pH balance of your soil. If your soil is already acidic, you may need to dilute the urine even further or consider using a different type of fertilizer.”

Your math is off. The dilution should be 10% for 1 to 10 parts.

Urine is best used either fresh or aged for 5 months plus. Aging kills pathogens.

I’ve seen recommendations to dilute it to 10% any time you fertilize with urine. I did it a couple times with 10% and had immediate green color and an explosion in growth, but never scorched any plants. You could try maybe a 25%, 10%, 0% experiment?

'Vitamin P' should be diluted one part P to nine parts water.
The only time I use it neat is in my compost bays, each of which receives around 5 litres a week during the active phase.

Nice video, thank you for making it. Let me ask you this question: what ratio might you recommend, based on what you've learned, for adding urine to your lawn with a pump sprayer? And at what intervals? In other words, I want to add urine as a fertilizer to my lawn and how much should I mix with water and how often should I apply? Also, do you need to age the urine or can you use it green? Thank you.

Having not done anything with a pump sprayer I can't comment on that method of application. I wouldn't say I have found a good ratio for the lawn grass fertilization but if I was trying to fertilize I would use a reduced ratio than the 50/50 that I did in this video. I would guess a more frequent but less concentrated application would be better, but that takes more work. All of the experiments I've done are with fresh urine.

Try 1:10 water to urine every two weeks.

10-1 as max strength. Your pump will be destroyed by the urine if you don’t take precautions.

Ammonia in urine is to strong to use strait. It has to be diluted at least 5to1

Hello sir. Excellent video. When did you apply fertilizer ( 100% urine ). At daytime or nightime?

    • @KestrelOwens
      @KestrelOwens  Год назад

It would have been between ~7 am and 11 am depending on the day. I was not consistent.
