(PRO tip: for talking head vlogging - Disable constant focus, half press the shutter once to focus your face and start recording... If you don't disable this function, the camera will focus and defocus even when you're not moving).

So i am looking for a new camera as mine recently broke so im wondering what would be better, to get another DMC-SZ10 or the DMC-TZ57? do they both use the same charging connector? and is the body good enough to be placed on the floor without breaking? (my sz10 was placed on the floor for less than 5 seconds because i saw ants and didnt want my camera breaking so i picked it up and the lens was popping out so i removed the lens cover but its really fiddly to use) (Edit over a year later) i ended up getting the zs45/tz57 and its great, the charging cables are the same its stronger aswell

Hello, I also have this camera TZ57, but I was wondering if it can be used as a webcam on a laptop since it has a HDMI output port. You know.. like for a livestream setup. I looked into some capture devices such as the Elgato camlink, but they don't have this model in their compatibility list. Do you perhaps know any way to connect it to my laptop as a webcam?

i have used both cameras (the sz10 for about 4 years and got the tz57 a little while ago) and the 1080p on the tz57 is better than the 720p on the lumix sz10 so for vlogging i would choose the tz57
Need to find how to get back off to clean sensor. I have removed screws but unable to remove back it is stuck at the top and I am scared I will break it if I pull the back. It is loosened all round. Frustrating.

the easiest way would be to shoot a video and speed it up in post that way if something happens during the video you can stop the timelapse and have audio
It can't record in 60/120/240 fps so you can't get natural slow motion. You best you could do is try to "edit" slow motion but into 30fps footage, it might not be the cleanest.
If you want this camera to make videos with or vlogs DO NOT GET IT! For one simple reason, the mic is absolutely trash it just make a buzzing sound at all time and it very annoying. Love how all these reviews forgot to mention that. Don't waste your money

dont worry though as lumix cameras tend to have good mics my sz10 from 2014 or 15 has better mic quality then the RX100 (sony)

In my experience the best thing you can do is work with an external lavalier mic.
