Will It Run Or Will I Find Out Why This Squarebody Was Abandoned?!

  • After watching some of my videos, I had a local guy approach me and let me know he had something I might be interested in. He didnt know the make or model, just that there was an old truck ABANDONED on his property ever since he had lived there! Of course, I wasted no time going to check it out, and Lo and Behold it was a SHORT BED SQUAREBODY! A 1975 GMC Sierra Grande to be exact. Once I got her home, I started working on the 250 ci Straight 6 engine and she definitely gave me a run for my money. Will it start? Will it run and drive? I think this one will definitely be worth your time to watch!

I like what you're doing. Getting the truck to Start, stop and drive, a better hood and the tailgate. Put it up for sale , a running and driving vehicle should always bring more money, and a decent place for someone to start wanting to build one.
Did you get to keep the factory wheels off of the truck, or was it not part of the deal on the purchase?

    Hodge podge of parts.
1973-74 Chevy grille, 1977-80 doors, someone removed the rain gutters. Not a Sierra Grande though, just a base Sierra. The Grande was the GMC equivalent to the Chevy Scottsdale, the High Sierra was the same as the Chevy Silverado introduced in 1975, this truck is the same as a Chevy Custom Deluxe. 👍
Those 250s were slower than a herd of turtles marching through peanut butter but hard to kill, super reliable and easy to work on and get good mileage and it's an early non-integral head engine. If it were mine, I would be tempted to get a TBI injected 250 L6 from Mexico or an MPFI 250 L6 from South America and put that in with an NV3500 5 speed for a nice-weather cruiser.
