2nd episode to my inaugural return to Japan. Needed an escape from the hustle bustle of Tokyo and took a 3 day trip out to Hakone, which is very well known as an onsen town. I bought the 3D Hakone Free Pass which costed me $66 SGD, but very well worth it as included return trips to Tokyo, free attractions and transport within Hakone.

I’ve been in Japan more than 10 times and I’ve never been to Hakone at least once. I will take my mom to Japan next month after the opening. Almost 3 years we cannot travel. I’m in decision to go to Hakone this time or not. Your video really gave positive vibe and made me wanna go there this time. Thank you for this.
One thing to note - everything closes really early in Hakone and it was pretty much a dead town by 6-7pm. Other than that, it was really beautiful and a good escape from the city

pls suggest 2 night 3 days itinerary from tokyo to tokyo. like after bf depart from tokyo to hakone...visit hakone on day 1, overnight stay at hakone ryokan onsen, next day after bf visit mt.fuji and surroundings, overnight stay at hakone again or near gotemba premium outlet, next day morning after bf shop at gotemba premium outlet then evening come back to tokyo. Is this correct way? and which transport to use. we r considering renting a car? will that be fine? two coples with kids....pls suggest...thanks

@shawneydepp just to let you know,I followed this itenerary when I had visited tokyo last month. I stayed in lake Aishi for 2 nights, and had the best photo of Tori Gate day and night. It's totally super worth it. Thanks bro for showing us this 👌

Hakone was def a good break from Tokyo. Also, if you want to try the hostel life, Japan is IT. Any of you guys still do it?

I would say the Hakone shrine, pirate ship and Owakudani - they’re the main attractions at Hakone

I think it was close to 7pm just after sunset (during summer)

Does the Hakone Torii gate close at a certain hour? Or do you mean last light as in they just turn off the lights but you can still visit?

Hey where exactly was the starting point of your hike in the Old Tokaido Road where your end point was Amazake Tea House? I don't want to hike a long stretch of the Old Tokaido Road, i'll be happy with a 30-40min hike ending at Amazake. But i don't know where to start!! :( i don't know what are the different entry points to the hiking trail that i can choose from huhuhu
I can’t remember exactly, but I started from the scenic stretch of the cedar trees along the road

I arrived in the evening so I just had it in my hostel
is there is a need to have a permit when flying a drone around the countryside/tokyo/hakone/lake ?
Big cities like tokyo would be a no go. You’d just need to register your drone for Japan

Hakone Shrine is pretty convenient, no need for a car imo. This was shot before Japan opened up so there might more crowds

Did you track to the tea house and then back to Tori Gate again ??? It must be a hell of a hike .... You should take a bus to the tea house .
Yes I did. My legs were destroyed. I missed the last bus back to the tori gate unfortunately

Did you do the 3 day pass and stay 2 nights? The ticket isn't 24 hours it's just day 1, day 2, day 3? And departs on 3rd day?
Yes I stayed 2 nights and got the 3 day pass. It just starts on your selected day and ends after the 3rd day. So my return train tickets tokyo - hakone and hakone - tokyo were covered.
Your storytelling skills are 🔥💯 How are the drone laws there? Could you fly freely?
Appreciate it 👊🏻 to be honest, not a lot of drone friendly places. I try to fly away from crowds and not at main attractions. The city is def a no go

there's a corner in the room to store all the luggages

I used the public bus mainly (which is covered under the Hakone pass)

But I've been wondering, how are you able to travel alone or like what advice would give to someone inspired to venture into solo traveling in japan but not able to speak japanese 😆
Thanks man 👊🏻 Japan is one of the best destinations for solo travel imo. Google translate and maps would be your best friend. Get the suica/pasmo card for public transport, it’ll be a lot more convenient.
