      Very good! It's lots of fun with a powerful garden tractor.

    I have a 1984 430 that I used to plow with (still have the 430). I now plow with a 2021 JD 2025R with Mauser cab with loader mounted hydraulic plow. Getting older I like staying warm inside the heated cab. The 430 is a beast of a tractor. I am still using it but mainly for cutting grass.

      I'm with you on the comfort factor. Before I bought the Massey, the 2025R was on my radar. I think it's a very nice tractor. I also wouldn't have minded a full heat/AC/Stereo cab as well. The Mauser one for my Massey is at least 5k if I remember right.

    I filled my rear tires with -40F windshield wiper fluid, added 2 - 40lb wheel weights per side and I also put 5 - 42lb suitcase weights on rear weight bar off my 3pt. It will dang near push a house off its foundation now. Why windshield wiper fluid you might ask? Well there is no rim guard available in Alaska and -40F wiper fluid is the next best up here in the super cold temps. I don't use my 430 much anymore for plowing since I bought my New Holland (aka LS) Workmaster. Good video, I like the rubber mat idea off one of your other videos.

      Thank you! That's a creative solution for filling the rears. I would love to weigh down my 430 like you have I just keep hoping to come across a deal on weights. We do have a rimgaurd dealer about 30 minutes from here but I keep putting it off since like you I have a subcompact.

    Oh ya baby now that’s a cool video, I am so glad you played the speed at normal levels. The sound of the 430 is intoxicating. Now I’ll say it again you need more weight on that beast. Ready?
    1) load the tires with RimGuard
    2) buy a HeavyHitch weight bracket for 3Pt
    3) add 6x 42 or 70 lb suitcase weights
    4) add 140lbs of cast starter weights to your wheels
    5) optional 100Lbs additional cast weights bolted to the starter weights.
    You showed us how much you spent getting the 430 where it is today. I’m saying spend another 1K and amaze yourself, you’ll think you bought a 1025R!
    Green rules that’s why it was easier to start than the red tractor🙂.
    Great music at the video closing.
    For Xtra credit you can contact The Goodworks Tractor Guy and he’ll give you free delivery on a new (used) green tractor to replace the Red Head Step child.
    Used tractor prices have come way down so maybe it’s possible.
    All tongue in cheek advice for entertainment purposes only😂.

      Thanks Lou! All good comments. I'll admit there was a spot in the video where I said to myself, wow, that yanmar sounds real good. I got the weight bracket, just need the weights and I've checked into rimgaurd and a local dealer, just haven't followed through.
      But yes, I love that 430!

      @tractorstrailsandlivingfree I use my 430 as a logging rig. Skidding logs and I have a little custom built log trailer and it's such a beast. Pulls everything I need, a blade would be nice for pushing dirt, pushing bushes over and clearing logging trails

      @@Kylan250r we used ours for some of that as well on some of our other videos. I'm told I need to focus on adding weight to mine. I agree with that but external weights aren't that cheap anymore.

      @tractorstrailsandlivingfree yeah rear weights are a must for the 430s especially with the blade on the front. I've got beet juice in my rear tires for weights. I would like to find wheel weights but they are so pricey

    So just a little jealous… I was going to make the same kind of video but yeah some bad luck and stupid broken fittings stopped me! Glad to see your back and almost to 1K! Hope this video gets you there!!

      Thanks for the support bud! I have to say the 430 is my favorite snow removal machine. The Massey will do the job but the 430 is WAY MORE FUN.
      I'm sure you got more snow than we did from that same storm. How many inches did you get?

    • @LivingOutHere
      @LivingOutHere 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@tractorstrailsandlivingfree we got about 6 inches and then the rain and the warmer temps made it melt and become slush.

      @@LivingOutHere sounds the same. Our yard is so soggy right now, I don't think we can film tomorrow.

    Eric, I need a tractor that is large enough to move a large round bale, but small enough I wouldn't mind using it for smaller chores, like hauling water. I'm trying to avoid buying 2 machines (big & small). And my budget is slim. Any ideas?

    • @tractorstrailsandlivingfree
      @tractorstrailsandlivingfree  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Dave. I'm thinking a 3 series Deere or maybe the 15xx or 17xx Massey. I know every tractor line has an appropriate one but what your looking for would be a "compact" size tractor. The "subcompact" like my Massey would be too small to haul a large round bale or your water tote if it's a large one.
      How's your farm coming?
