  • Just another very chill day in the life with a newborn and a toddler. And by "chill" I mean, surviving on 20 mins of sleep and dealing with tantrums. So fun. LOL seriously, here's how Jackson's been doing lately since switching to formula during the day. xoxox, Kayla

Feeding him will actually help him poop. It’s called a gastrocolic reflex which is very active in infants. It causes them to have a bowel movement during or immediately after feeding.

My baby had the same thing with her belly button it went down by 1 or so. My doc said the same thing, it’s so common. When I first saw it I felt like I did something wrong. I’m happy that you’re letting other moms know cuz it can get big and freak out a first timer.

I feel your pain! My son was exactly like this. Some days were better than others...but then he just all of the sudden learned to poop and the grunting stopped. I believe it was around 10 weeks old he became so much happier and I became more sane. I hope things improve for you soon too! You’re doing an amazing job. Thanks for being so real.

  • @hkandm4s23
    @hkandm4s23 4 года назад +4

If he's grunting for more than 5 or 10 minutes, feed him! It totally helps. My baby is going through all the same stuff 2 months ahead. At 2 months she couldn't poop for like 2 days. I realized she was going through a growth spurt and needed more milk... Like way more than I thought. Now every time she gets fussy about pooping I feed her and it totally fixed the all day grunting. She still has reflux and will sometimes spitup while trying to poop, but having more in her tummy helps so much. Also helps her sleep way better.

Hey Kayla, just wanted to say thank you for all your videos and allowing us to follow your journey.. You are doing an amazing job as a mum! My wee boy is 6months old and he had all the same problems with reflux, being sick and constantly constipated! It was awful.. so i spoke to my health visitor and asked her what i could give him to help him go to the toliet. She said if he hasnt went in a 24 hr period and you can tell he is uncomfortable trying to push. She told me to put cold boil water in a bottle and two wee small drops of pure orange juice or prune juice in the cold boil water and give him 1 or 2 ounces of it and just allow his stomach to settle with it and it will help him and for my wee boy it differently did!
In the end i found out that he was lactose intolerant so i had to chance his milk to the prescription one similac alimentum milk and it has done him wonders.. he still has a slight touch of reflux but nothing to crazy! As before i had him on gripe water, infacol, gaviscon infant sachets and nothing was helping him
(Btw im from northern ireland belfast) so there are probably different techniques over here than to america)
Anyway i hope this helps and i hope you and your beautiful family keep well :) i love all your videos! Its thanks to you sharing rileys sleep training video i know get actual time to myself and sleep!
    So thank you!

Did you try with the baby massage? I did that multiple times a day with my son, it helped him oftentimes. Always have to do circular motion to clock direction around his belly button and push it downward with finger on the right side from the belly button (his left your right) and then there is several motions with feet (stretch and push, do round motions, place your arm under is bottom and lightly lift it, then make round morions with his legs (clock direction) - sorry for my english, but i hope maybe any of these advices helps you

First off Riley is adorable with her face all in the camera. My son has the same hernia. Nd it kinda terrifies me when it’s really pushed out, especially when he’s crying hysterically. Doctors told me the same thing, that it’ll go away on it’s own. But because he’s having surgery when he turns six’s months, they gave me the option to have it removed then too.

I hate using the long stretch wraps because of all the extra fabric, but the k’tan looks like the 2.0 version and sooo easy to use!!! Maybe I’ll have to splurge lol.

While your baby is laying on her back, gently rub her tummy in a clockwise motion and then pull your hands down the curve of the belly. Massaging in a clockwise direction helps to move gas along as that is the route the intestinal tract follows. Repeat several times to help move trapped gas.♥️❤

I'm sorry, but I found it hilarious when you said only a mom would understand when waiting for a poop. I went to T-Mobile and one of the sales lady was oohing over my daughter. My daughter let out the nastiest fart/poop ever. The lady that was oohing over her celebrated when she pooped. The other sales people thought it was disgusting. One of the sales people asked why are you celebrating? This is disgusting.
My daughter always has lint in between her toes. Im always diligent about checking her toes. One time she had my hair wrapped around her toe. It started to cut off her circulation. Oops.

The Burp Cloths I ordered at the Amazon DEFONO store are breathable, soft and comfortable. I always buy a few burp cloths for the diaper bag, but mostly we use cloth pre-fold diapers and receiving blankets.

A great trip for gas and upset stomach is dissolving some dessert mints in warm water until they dissolve and then have him drink it. It works wonders!!!!

Praise God. Cutie pie is asleep in his swing. Has his doctor addressed the terrible difficulty for him to pass gas and especially poops? At what age can he begin with a tiny bit of prune in his bottle or do they have a medication to give him to help? It is so sad to have so much pain just to perform a normal function of life. It may be that he is always a bit on the constipated side, but when he gets older he can have a bit of prune in the morning and that will fix him up for the day. Right now I believe he's too young for the fruit. Find out. Poor baby. Oh yes, no one should awaken him once he's asleep. Kayla, you look fine. Tired, but fine. You are speaking in complete sentences. The fact that you can do that presently is a minor miracle of its own. It sounds like the formula is working. Don't mess with a winning formula. Go with it. Generally, colicky babies are that way for approximately two months. All babies are different. It could be that he is outgrowing it a bit. But you will have to get his bowel situation resolved, so that he does not continue in pain and develop bad habits based on his own fear of elimination pains. He is so beautiful. It must be the joy of your day to see him smile with you while awake or to see him sleep like a peaceful angel, not writhing and grunting from his belly miseries. Just make good notes for the doctor so that you do not miss anything important to tell him or so you do not exaggerate something out of your own exhaustion. Just remind Riley that no one awakens her when she needs her sleep, so Jackson has to have his sleep once it comes. He is on the boppy next to you now and his concentration and wiggling trying to get a poop out is at a normal level. What he went through before was not. Some babies do not poop more than once a day. But, again, it is the writing in pain and extreme discomfort and effort that were accompanying gas and poop eliminations that are the problem. All babies have a "poop face" when they are so focused on pushing it out, especially if they are lying down and not being aided by gravity, as they would be if they were upright. Put Riley's PJs on backward and it will be much harder for her to get them off, if at all. If Jackson's pooping that much all at once, he probably needs to be pooping more than once a day and just cannot get it out readily until it's a volcanic eruption. But, I understand how grateful you are, even for a blow-out at this point. It is true that umbilical hernias are pretty common. I wonder if it is causing any of his pain in that region. It makes sense that it would become enhanced by all the pushing through his bowels. His is so calm after the blow-out by comparison with what he has been, even though he still has some gas to get out. While you are pumping he is clearly hungry and uncomfortable in the swing again. You are literally flying by the seat of his pants. You are improvising all the time. Of course you have anxiety. Riley is old enough to play you for her own purposes; he is not. You have a problem to resolve here and it seems you are on the road, which will stand you in good stead when you head to the D.C. area. Toe lint is common due to all the movement they do with their feet covered. Oh sweetie, what a joy to see you be able to play with him a little bit in the boppy after he ate. Oh, and he's sleeping in the swing again. What a blessing that is!
