Great job Roger. I made a similar mechanism when I first got my Mill/Drill many years ago. Yours is much more machine like, I used what ever I could coble together at the time just to get those "JAKEY" grease monkey hand knobs off lol!
Love this Gilles! Very entertaining and as always you have taught me something I would have never dreamed of knowing before. Can't wait to see more of these. 🙂
Gilles, this is a great idea. Michel just gave you a shout-out and a big thank you for the very nice Machinist jack that you just made & sent him, so I'm here checking out your channel and liking what I see. Subscribed! ;) I have a mill-drill almost, if not, exactly like yours that I bought back in the '80s and now I'll copy your Y-axis lock idea. Once again, this is a great idea and very easy to implement. :)
Thank you very much Bob and welcome. Michel is a stand up kind of guy. It was fun to make him some screw jacks since he needed some anyway. I like making things simple, inexpensive and functional for people to make. Hopefully the axis lock will give you more time to mill versus cleaning your hands haha. Take good care. Gilles :)
I know this guy personally and he is an awesome dude. He gets up, goes out and plays at things he likes and wants to do. That's how innovation works.

It was one of the best mods I've done so far. The greasy hands drove me nuts :)

Nice I want to make one. Thanks!
Genius!
I need a quick lock like that on the head. Preferably air operated!
Air operated, now that sounds cool.
Nice upgrade..
It really made a big difference. Faster workflow and best of all no greasy arms
Nice mod
