It’s a great point, as the current MLB stars just don’t register among the masses or casual fan. Aaron Judge hit 62 Homeruns this year and the story barely penetrated pop culture.
Buster Posey last solid catcher. Retired in '21. He would've done well in the '70s. Only rookie to bat clean up in a World Series. Ichiro next to see Hall. Ortiz most recent bona fide. These three definitely could've & would've held their own in '70s & '80s.
If the Reds had signed Seaver before the season they probably would’ve been closer to the Dodgers. However, it did hurt them losing the leadership of Tony Perez, and ace Don Gullett.
Growing up as kid in the 70’s this was my favorite show. I couldn’t wait for Saturday.👍🏻👍🏻
Mel Allen one of the best voices in baseball history!!
How ABOUT that? Yep. He was a legend!
Watched this every Saturday way back when.when baseball was pure.cant beat the old uniforms either
Love the ol' school San Diego Padres uniforms....
How ironic that Winfield gave that interview in Yankee Stadium...
Bring back the powder blue uniforms
Baseball was the sh@t from the seventies until the mid nineties. There’s still some great stars, but no true superstars defining the game.

Love this, first year I began following baseball!
Love those Indians uni's
i never knew Kingman was ever a Padre..........56 games in 1977
I think Kingman played for every MLB team at one time or another
Mets traded him to SD same day as Seaver, 6/15/77
1975 -
Some of the greatest Dave Parker belongs in hall of hall,
Steve Garvey Al Oliver Bill Madlock
No question about it! Steve Garvey in particular! Parker was an awesome player! Oliver and Madlock were hitting machines!!!
How about Don Stanhouse?
Pete Rose is what baseball is all about. Hmm…
I love those 70’s uniforms. The Pirates and Indians should bring those back. Not the White Sox.
Pirates and A’s could get away with it but not the Indians I’m sorry
I just realized…they dub in the crowd sound…they don’t use the crowd noice from the actual games shown in the highlights
Just like MNF & Cosell's Halftime Highlights. You'd swear the same crowd attended every game. "Muriel Cigars. Where There's Smoke, There's Fire." 🥲

They had some seriously ugly road uniforms in the 70s.
