The mandatory sniffing of new gear is very important. It helps you to bond with it. Love you Dr. Mix.
The Theremin is such a theatrical instrument. Perfect for a live gig, as long as you feel confident about playing it.

ALWAYS say yes to a Theremin!
The weapon of choice for a vintage horror movie score...
Freaking amazing bro!! One doctor mix a day keeps the sadness away🙏
Hi, just to say thank you. You and a couple of other channels have kept me going over the last three weeks while I was in hospital recovering from cancer surgery. Especially as there was no visitors allowed. Just wanted to say thanks to you for helping break down some very long days. Thanks mate, good luck with the gig. All the best
Oh wow, sorry to hear about that.. I’m glad I was of support ❤️🕺
@@Doctormix honestly, you really helped. Those videos and the window to the outside world really helped mate. Please never change. Thank you.
Music my friend is good for the soul, and you have really helped.
Watching you lay that strip of tape on the mixer was oddly satisfying. 😄 Sometimes I suspect I enjoy organizing gear more than using it.
Theremin!! Yeah!!!
Yeah, absofruitly! Bring the theremin! Theremin jam!
I'm so surprised there's still tickets left. I thought I was too late. SO EXCITED!!!
The theremin MUST be on your side at the gig!!! Great video as always!
Hey Dr.Mix this is definitely my favourite type of video. It's so funny watching you put things together. We need more...
Theremin is an very nice and cool and also authentic electronic instrument....I vote for it - bring it to your event-party!! I really would like to see it. best regards, Frank Liebe
I'm a big fan of Dr. Mix!
I also just bought this 24 channel mixer! It's a beast! So many routing options and it is so compact! I'm so satisfied of it!!!
Nearly worth going all DI to a trusted engineer on FOH that knows the set. 100% dedicated to playing!
Just a note about living with the out of tune voice on the P5. You can do what I had to do several times when in a pinch - voice defeat. To defeat a voice, hold the key it is currently assigned to with one hand while holding PROGRAM SELECT 1 and pressing PROGRAM SELECT 8. The voice will be defeated and will remain defeated until the Prophet's power is switched off. So you can at least have a four voice synth in the meantime.
bless ya man.. always love to feel you awesome energy !
Of course you should take the Theremin!
Yes! Bring the theremin. It's such a cool instrument and I love the sound of it!
This guy lives in synth heaven
Good luck Doctor Mix !
At one time in my home studio I had a lot of rackmount synths. I used three Mackie CR-1604's and a Mackie Mixer Mixer to output to my DAW. The problem was that there was only a single stereo output to an A/D converter. That meant that once a mix was set and recorded it could not be changed. I eventually switched to a pair of MOTU 24 I\O's (48 channels total). With that setup every channel is converted to digital and sent separately to the DAW. Once recorded the individual tracks can be mixed or remixed at will. Since, I have sold a number of the hardware synths and am using more software synths and sample libraries, e.g., Native Instruments, Spitfire Audio, EastWest, Ample Sound, SampleTank, etc.
The Behringer line mixers are great for this. I have two (one goes into the other) that goes out to my SSL SiX. Then I have dedicated outputs on the SiX to my talk box, vocoder, Octatrack. I can send all of my synths to them.
Wow it's today! Good Luck Doctor!!!
Connect a new Mixer is a very good feeling.
Cool vid, thanks for sharing!
Can't wait to see some video from the show! I'd love to have seen it live, but... you know, international travel and all that. And some live theremin would be very interesting.
Also, please try to talk Clive into making a video about the Prophet repair
Congrats on playing with Brian Adams on stage! 🎉🎉🎉
Yes, to the Theremin! Best of luck for your gig. Looks such fun.
For me, the "Yamaha MODX" is the most interesting Synth in this Setup !! And I`am thinking about, to buy one, next time !! ("Thomann" is not far away from here !!)
Nice video! Keep up the good work Doctor Mix!
I am so looking forward to the audio recording of your gig! I would like to come, but I live in Germany and that's too far away. I am very excited!
This is dope!!!
I use a Mackie DL32R - 32 Mono inputs that can intuitively be paired and controlled as stereo inputs, many outputs, and loads of digital I/O via USB and Ethernet. And it is all controlled from a web browser or iPads. Highly recommended.
I love this Mackie consoles, really good sound
👍 Nice I love the Korg with the stereo mixer function
Very insightful. Thank you for making this video. I have learned from it. - Spaceboy
Yes, take the Theremin! That CV pedal is cool - my son needs one for his synth rig.
Will you be recording the show to sell digital copies afterward? It won't be the same as in-person, but for those of us in the US, it's the only option for a while.
My JUNO-6 came with a CASIO VP-2 which I used to control the filter while playing live. I'm surprised more people don't take advantage of these pedals. Nice to Syntaur making contemporary ones.
Wonderful setup! I'm gigging with a Yamaha MG12XU board, but am pulling all of my keyboard sounds from MainStage and AnalogLab V. I have an ancient Casio CDP-100 (hey, it's 88 weighted keys at least) and the super cheap Arturia KeyLab 49. Nothing but budget gear here.
You’re a bad ass! 💪🏼
So Cool!!)
Uauuu! Unbelievable that you played with Brian Adams! Amaaaaziiing!
wow, wirklich gut das finanzielle klar zu trennen vom ideellen. auch die vielen vielen grossen und kleinen tips sind klasse. i hope to find them all. das personalisieren mit tape hab ich vergessen. aber alles zu einem synth zusammenzufassen is ... … sehr sehr interessant wie dynamisch du bist und wie schnell du da alles umbauen kannst wenn du müssen willst. das hilft jedenfalls über alles nochmal nach zu denken was die wege angeht bzw. ihre enden. hab aber nur 1x synth analog, 1x synth digi/groovebox, 1x workstation 06, 1x digitalmixer 32ch, 1x analogemixer 18ch, 5x mic, 2x fx, 2x controller nice... and rack diverse ex comp et cetera... the mixer at your corner, the korg, have a name that i love... i think the mixer is wow to see!!! thank you and have a nice time...
Very Nice and amazing.
Cool well done love your new mixer x🎹🎼🥁🪘🎷🎸
Live music is coming back! You're doing a cool show, Rick Beato is now going to do an event... things are looking up!
Very cool. And to all the gear collectors: There often are some starters who can put your old equipment to good use. So think about selling/giving away your unused equipment to help them out.
Get crazy Theremin only😂
BRING IT ALL!!!! YEAH DUDE! HAVE A RICK WAKEMAN MOMENT< you owe that to your self!
Super, thanks a lot, Dr. Mix. Horns, with synths is an excellent idea! Especially for Discofunk music. Please add Funk Electroguitars, also.
Roland Fantom 8!!! Sweeeeet!!! I'm pretty fond of my FA-08 but would love to have an F-8. Your mixer choice looks good. I need to get some better studio monitors by the time I get my channel up and going. Looking forward to a review of sorts on the 8!! Have fun man!!
good gig ,sir
Dream rig! You would look and sound sooo coool with the theramine, but a more road friendly way would. be the ribbon on your hydrasynth : ) Sooo wish I could come to your gig, I will look through the other ways to support it, You're gonna have such a blast!
Yes on the theremin, if anything looks cool. If the Moog Etherwave Plus, think of what fun you can have with control voltage out 😎🤓🙂
Ciao Claudio. Contenuto fantastico come sempre!!! Ho natualmente già acquistato i biglietti per l'evento online (video) visto che non posso essere presente di persona. (vivo in germania). Un caro saluto e grazie per i meravigliosi conenuti ed ispirazione in ogni tuo video, e non vedo l'ora di partecipare virtualmente al tuo concertone!!! yuhuuuu
Grazie amico!! E grazie per il supporto ❤️🕺🙏🙌
Set up looks great. New Korg mixer is interesting, still using a 1604 in my studio with a sub mix feeding it.
Syntaur’s CV pedal looks nice, looks sturdier than Moogs. Sure you’ll have a blast
I'm still using my Mackie mixer purchased new circa 1990. The first generation Mackie products were built like tanks and are still going strong 30 years later.
Yesterday I add to my collection the JX-3P and the sounds are 😳😵🤤
@@angelog.spicolaiii8021 bro it’s perfect sounds and i recommend the Roland PG 200 it’s ultimate with this synth
Leave the Theramin at home. Bring the Hydrasynth. If you really feel the need for a theramin, just use theramin mode on the Hydra's ribbon.
I’m using the Midas mr18 at the moment. Works fantastic for eve thing I feed through it
Bring the Theremin!
Maybe it will be better to use reverb/delay external pedals instead of mixer’s internal ones. The quality and control will be much better I think.
Theremin is a YES from me :)
If not the Theremin, then the ring controller. Or, both. Simultaneously.
(:
Cool, have a great show. Yeah, Korg updated the MS20 vsti and it sounds way better than the previous version. Also the Gadgets are now vsti too.
Thank you so much for introduction of your live rig - that's nice choice of keys and gear, man!!!
Apart from that I always enjoy your videos, that's such a combination of passion, dedication and skill, I could learn a lot from you and at the same time I understood where I am on right path, and where I am not 😉.
Keep up the good work!!! 🤗
PS Just a small question - I decided to buy kind of budget workstation (no dough for Montage, Kronos nor Fantom 😒) so I am deciding between Korg Krome Ex and Yam.MODX , and I am for now inclined to Yamaha, because of Pianos mostly, but there is just one thing that bothers me - a keys, keybed on MODX. I don't need full and heavy piano action, but I saw reviews where people said keybed on MODX is enormously bad, cheap, etc.. I tried keys on Krome, feels ok to me. Are keys on MODX that bad ?(problem is that I can't find MODX in my area to try it..).
lol. my mackie vlz16 was like that panned:L-R-L-R-L-R all across. i use a behringer 2442 now and add a behringer 1202 when i need more inputs
the aux outputs are great for effects loops and then they can be paralleled on any channel.
edit: I want that big 32ch mackie, but it is like $1500US
Live I use a Roland Fantom 7 and an ancient Roland A33 midi-keyboard. All sounds are coming from the Fantom.
Yes, bring the theramin! Also, welcome to the Fantom 8 family! Isn’t it grand?
class 5+
You should remake walk like an egyptian now. I love that song.
Hopefully one day, I'll have space for a studio of my own. My keyboard, isn't as good a quality as the ones, I've seen in music videos on this site. I hope to one day, have a better quality keyboard. I really think, the theremin should go, it's an iconic instrument.
Hey Doctor Mix :3
How are you doing?
This video is great and educationa.
That is all I can say to you right now.
Sam
You need a Synclavier II.
Edit: Forget about that, you have the Arturia collection. My favorite software synth is U-He Zebra 2 or Hans Zimmer's beast.
Yes, I get it old school keys, old school mixer, but really. Unless you are 100% playing everything live, why not choose a digital mixer that can operate together with your DAW. There are so many cool digital mixers around and their features is almost endless routing wise if you choose the right one 😊
👍👍
Anybody else getting ZX Spectrum loading vibes at 3:49?
i think you could cut the modx6 and fantom8 and replace it with just one modx8 or montage8... and u need a keytar controller place it on a back with your pc... bring the roland looper and dj contoller to complement the machina....
I love my Fantom workstation !! Have you updated to v3.0 ?
theremins are cool, love the hydrasynth! do you like korg prologue?
3:54 Subaru baracca 😂😂😂
bring the thermin
if you give me the top part of that stand i'll weld something up to fit the mixer properly let me know i am only a few miles down the road in ealing. xx
I'm always amazed by how quick you set up your new equipment. (and I'm not talking about the fast forward video editing). Don't you get stuck by a missing cable, a lack of mains socket, a lack of space under the desk for crawling into, bad solder joint, etc.?
In my case it's taking more than a year for me to finish the connection to my digital mixer....
Please release a video of the gig for those of us that can’t make it.
Hi Doctor Mix, awesome setup , small question , what output level are you using on all the synths outputs , are they like around 80% and then you can prepare your mixing levels with the Korg mixer before the big day ?
I can't believe you ditched the Hydrasynth, one of the best performance-made synths out there..
yes lol
Hé Claudio where did you get that keyboard tray for the small synth ? And great Brian Adams video seeing you :)
Hi DR mix 😎I was thinking about your mixer .and synth choices 👍the only other effects I can think might work would be hi pass filters!
Providing the mixer has a other effects
I/o channel
But you would need someone that knows/feels wen to apply that effect live
Nice setup but I'd have a Korg Kronos in there somewhere. It just does so much and it does it very well.
2:38 Festivalbar? non ce la faccio, troppi ricordi (cit.) 😀😀😀
Hello, well done! Is the xm somewhere not redundant with the fanrom 8 ? Why not a single korg synth in your set up ? What about the hydrasynth ? Thx and good luck for your concert !
theremin must have !
my behringer ufx1204 is a nice compact mixer with built in recording. Alas it's not as flexible as a dp-24sd for loops and multi takes and recording just one track into a mix so I am thinking to move over to it. Also its mic pres suck compared to my aphex.
Next Amsterdam? 😎🙏
I like TASCAM MODEL 24
Hi dr mix, Will this GIG be live on youtube
Use the Theremin to control modulation inputs maybe...something fresh?
What's up, Doc? Will your Dream Gig be available to stream live, or later on afterwards? I cannot make it to the gig, but I'd like to see the set somehow. Cheers from the US!
EDIT: The "exclusive video" support option takes care of this on the gig website. I checked that link you left on this vid.
Handled!
PS - leave the theramin at the studio. You need to be streamlined so you can breathe easier and be flexible for this monumental gig.
PSS - Bring the theramin. Forget what I said. You literally do video switching, production, mixing and vari synths at the same time daily so...
Awesome thanks!!! ❤️
Bring the theremin ONLY if theres a solo!!!!
Claudio, did they have your mic connected when you played with Bryan Adams? :)
so pleased your taking those synths . be awesome if you could play "time is tight" on your rhodes :)
Obviously you are using a mixer as an instrument as well, not just for manage all the keyboards. Did you ever consider using a digital mixer on stage? like the behringer X32 Rack or something like that? If so or not I'm really curious to know why! thx
Something I've always wondered about for home/live... When you see the flexibility within something like the Korg Mixer, if you're using say 2 or 3 keyboards with a laptop and Ableton/Logic setup, does it make sense to get something like the Scarlett 2i2 or would you just be better off getting a cheaper 4 or 8 track mixer and using that. Is their any fundamental reason you'd choose one over the other?
SYNTH COUNT..YOU MAY NEED THE 16 INPUT VERSION, OR NOT..
