Thank you so much Imad, I really appreciate the comment. I never thought at my age I would be making videos for RUclips or anyone would be very interested in what I had to say 😊
@@ABTS you was a trader and right now you are a mentor of the next generation in the market 🌹 I apriciate that you are sharing your expérience with people I suggest to make a vedio about how to avoid scam companies and deal properly Thanks a lot
Hi, Alan, I really like this video! I want to ask you if it's possible to have a video where you explain how you get in touch with the supermarket directors for the raising business! because I have producers of almost every kind of product in the alimentary industry with the best competitive prices... And I would like to establish some relationships with supermarkets here in Italy or Europe. Thanks for sharing your knowledge I really appreciate it!
Thank you Hira, that's a great idea. I will create a video that explains how I managed to make the connections and build the network that I did all those years ago. I'm sure it's easier now with the likes of Facebook and LinkedIn but thank you for the idea.
Hi Joseph, you can start as a sole trader without a problem. I operated as a sole trader at first and eventually setup as a limited company which I sold later on.
Hi there, thank you for your question. I’ve no personal experience in any commodity trading as it tends to be quite a specialised area. Sorry about that.
Hello, no, a freights forwarder only moves your goods it does not have anything to do with helping you find buyers or making sales. For more on now to find buyers, see: www.abtslogistics.co.uk/how-to-find-buyers-for-export/
Hi Alan, I hope you are doing well. I would like to pursue a career in freight forwarding and currently, I am studying in the UK and I don't know where and how to start from. I am so inspired by your videos and your suggestion would mean a lot to me.
Hi Tahsinul, sorry for the late reply, for some reason your comment was help up. For a career in freight forwarding, I would make sure to start with gaining the practical knowledge that you'll need to know to be successful. I'm not sure what you're studying here in the UK but our Export Documentation and Procedure course would be a good fit for you. Once you have the practical knowledge then it's time to go job searching. Have a read of our guide here that offers lots of advice and how to go about finding a job when you don't have any experience in logistics: www.abtslogistics.co.uk/how-to-get-a-job-in-logistics-without-experience/. I hope this helps you!
@@ABTS thank you Alan for your reply. I have been looking to enroll for your course.I am a Management student but ever since I got to know about freight forwarding. I am so amazed by it and I look up to you as my mentor and hopefully through joining your course, I will be able to have a direct conversation with you. Thank you!
Hello Alan, I have just started a freight forwarding business. I am based in an island territory, a French overseas department island. For import flows, the companies ask me to have an "agent" at each port of departure to be able to do the booking. How can I solve this problem? Thank you in advance for your answer
Hi Nicoleb, thanks for your comment. You wouldn't need private representation at a port for exports however, some clients will want you to be present to make sure their cargo is loaded safely onboard. If this is what they are asking for, unfortunately there is no alternative than to be present at the port for loading. Hope I have understood correctly.
@@ABTS Hello Alan, thank you for answering my question. However, it is the shipping companies that require me to have an agent, in each port of embarkation, for shipments to my island. I am currently working on agreements with freight forwarders so that they can carry out bookings in each port of embarkation. Apparently I should share the profits with these partners.
Hi nicoleb, this is standard practice when representation is needed. As you say, you'll approach freight forwarders to represent you and they will want a representation fee, which is for you to negotiate the best deal you can.
Hi Alan, I'm an aspiring international business broker currently doing my graduate degree program in Maritime transportation, are there international organizations/associations you could suggest for me to join that will boost my career? I will equally love all the advices you can give. P.S. I'm a fan.
Hi Obi, congratulations to you on studying for your degree, that’s great to hear. What country are you based in? If the UK I have some suggestions but outside, I’m not too sure. Please let me know and I’ll see what I can find for you.
Hi TM, the short answer is no. I've dealt extensively with Libya over the years. The government won't give you a hard time unless you break rules or export laws. For example, if you try to ship embargoed goods, that will of course cause you issues and put you on the radar.
@@ABTS That's good to hear. Thank you. In reference to money what can a broker/forwarder expect to make on a single deal? Is is like real estate where an agent get 3% of total purchase price. Or do you just keep the profit from the quote less your expenses.
This is my first comment in RUclips for you
You are doing a perfect content about international buisness

Very rich training. Did you operate as a sole professional. Can one start international logistics as a sole proprietorship?

Alan huge fan of yours, have you ever done real Sugar Trades ? Agriculture , Commodity in general?
