- Archive footage from 25th October 2018 showing Krakatau volcano erupting spectacularly in Indonesia.
A larger eruption some weeks later from the same volcano caused a tsunami which has killed more than 160 people.
Background information:
Krakatau, a small island group in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Sumatra and Java is one of the world's most famous volcanoes. It is a mostly submerged caldera with 3 outer islands belonging to the rim and a new cone, Anak Krakatau, that has been forming a new island since 1927 and remains highly active.
Krakatau exploded spectacularly in a devastating Plinian eruption 1883 that killed more than 30,000 people (mostly by the huge tsunamis triggered by the eruption). The eruption was one of the first global news events after telegraph lines had connected the different continents.

Finally, a video of a real eruption that doesn’t play some music or commentate over it. Just raw natural brilliance. Absolutely incredible!
Yes not a single OMG was heard.😂😉
Just really loud ocean waves
This is a actually clear and beautiful footage. The sound is excellent! The explosion, night, lava, waves, and all! Beautiful.
You forget mentioning thunder that occur at 3:30 and from 3:58 thunderstrom
I would have preferred they use parabolic mics to cut down the noise of the waves in the foreground, and amplify the sound of the volcano instead.
How bout the deaths
shut up
Bruh
I live and grew up near from this mountain, and when the last eruption occurred and caused a tsunami (it happened around 2018 if I'm not mistaken) it wasn't as beautiful as it looks in this video, I just hope that this mountain doesn't erupt like its mother erupted. and make history as one of the greatest natural disasters on our earth
Mother Volcano is named IBU or other.?

I agree! The entire mountain is coated in what Dr. Evil calls "liquid hot magma".
Agreed!
without a doubt
agreed, it even produced some lightening.
Definitely. Coated the entire volcano, and even reached the water. Very impressive.
Fun fact the ORIGINAL Krakatoa doesn't exist anymore it was completely submerged this one is called Anak Krakatoa meaning child of Krakatoa as it was formed from the same tectonic plates
Pretty sure only two of the three original peaks of krakatoa sank, the third and largest became unstable and collapsed, only half of the third volcano remains of the original krakatoa
@@CheeseInTheOven not exactly due to weathering and erosion ocean water entered the magma chamber causing a large explosion submerging the island
Iya betul
I don't know I'd say it doesn't exist. The island as such doesn't exist (except for most of Rakata and a tiny sliver of Danan) but Krakatau the volcano itself still exists and is obviously very active and still a serious danger.
@@WashashoreProd the volcano itself is the island
What's amazing about Indonesia is that almost all of the mountains are very perfect in terms of shape
If you want to know what all the volcanoes in Indonesia are like, try watching all of my compilation videos (Because I haven't uploaded all the volcanoes in Indonesia, because there are too many. So I will continue to add to the list).
If you pay attention all my videos, you will know the shape of all the all volcanoes in Indonesia. There are many volcanoes with strange and unique shapes in Indonesia that you may not know about.

Charged particles, from the intense heat. I think.
@Oishinee Ganguly Ah nice, a correct perspective
I'm eleven and I know what a volcano eruption is. This is a classic looking Indonesian volcano. Indonesian volcanoes near java have volcanic lava eruptions. Most volcanoes are strato which is better considering they don't form islands in the middle of land. Also why am I telling you this stuff? Also do stratovolcanoes get bigger after coating itself in ash?
Ngl this is boring. I like the ones that burst with rocks and steam.
I could seriously fall asleep to this. I need a 10 hour compilation of just this view here. Waves and occasional volcano thunder

Thank you. The second I saw it I recognized it but couldn't remember Martin's name. He deserves the credit.
That makes sense because from what I understand it blew itself apart and there's no longer a cone
Thank you. I hate channels ike this that steal videos and make no attempt to credit the owner. Even more wen they profit off of such plagiarism by monetizing the video as this channel did. People spend a lot of time, effort and money to make videos like this and to have someone swoop in and steal them so they can mae an easy profit with no effort is absolutely disgusting.
Wonder how this clip scrubbed his 'watermark' off the original - is that easy to do? .. or maybe Martin added the watermark after it was stolen?

@Sean Price wow didn't know volcanic eruptions can have lightning
@@ahmedegymed5853 It's caused by lava fragments rubbing together in the explosion, similar to how thunderstorm lightning is caused be water droplets rubbing together in the clouds.

Yes they are. You have to respect the power these things have and the kind of damage they can dish out.
Apparently this one is the son of the original one.
This is Anak (child) Krakatau.
The (father) is Krakatau, on a different piece of land.
That one had one of the most violent volcanic eruptions of all time.

Krakatoa: The World's biggest drama queen
I'd love to know the mechanism behind the lightning inside the explosions.
Edit: Static discharge between ash particles 👍
There's a video I found a few months ago explaining how that works. Look up "volcanic lightning" and it should be in the list somewhere.
Edit: You already learned about it. Never mind. XD
I'm not sure, but probably due to massive amount of iron electric charged in those clouds.
Not at all eruption produce lightning. Krakatoa lava have iron mineral rich. Electric easily conduct in iron. That's why slope of krakatoa have red colour.
ooooh that’s actually super cool
So would I and I was more taken by thelightning than the explosions
@2:03 you can see huge rocks hitting the water.. That is crazy!!
Perfeito magnífico performático !! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💥🙏😃
Amazing video of this. The lightning was a nice catch as well.
I just read up about the Tambora eruption in 1815 and always wondered what ones of that magnitude looked like in person. A year later was the year without a summer. It left a crater 4 miles wide. How my high school never taught me about that one escapes me.
Tambora was the worst compared to Krakatoa's eruption inn1883. Imagine Tambora's eruption spewed matter large enough to cover the entire Indian sub continent with 6 inch ash. Also it took 4 years for its effect to completely wear off. The first year without summer, global temperatures dropped by 3.5 degC, completely disrupting the global weather pattern and climate conditions. Irregular rains caused crop failure and wide spread famine
Imagine a 4000+m mountain and now just 2000+m
I find this amazing - this is the first time I've ever been able to see such an event. The camara and sound is incredible. 👍
I checked Google Earth, and the mountain in view is about a mile wide. Given that the speed of sound is generally 5 seconds per mile, some of those huge chunks appear to be traveling at 400-500mph +.
Coool
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing that. 🤝
thanks for sharing ;)
I assume you also know the whole mountain slipped into the sea after it had belched huge amounts of lava and bombs onto the slopes. It gave way under its own weight and caused a tsunami that killed hundreds in the sunda strait.
It's looks slow because it's far and big. If we saw it closely, it's absolutely fast ash and huge chunks burst.

I think its because the lava has less silica content which makes it less viscous and can travel all the way down the mountain in just a matter of time. Sorry for my bad english hahaha

Psalm 144
(A Psalm of David.)
Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.
Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;
Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
