My brother-in-law's father got a Bronze Star for saving his command from friendly fire in WWII. With no radio working, he got a white flag up in the town where he was.
It's more likely that they didn't agree with their regime and didn't want to shoot the guy. It's pretty rare for soldiers (pre Vietnam anyway) to actually try to kill someone who isn't directly threatening you. This is basically because before then the skills were taught but the "shoot a man shaped object" or "shoot this thing dressed as the enemy" reflexes weren't.
that guy deserves a movie! good lord, that story literally seems like it's from some op anime character, smart as heck and deadly in combat seemingly invulnerable to bullets, this man was a fucking god!
The two fucked up things that happened for the guy were he was drafted as a fucking private, even though he went to college, and it taking 57 years for him to receive the medal of honor after he was long dead.
That was common in WWII, didn't change till Korea with MASH units where all medical personnel, EXCEPT male nurses, were drafted as at least 2nd Lts. And even those folks were privates till they 'cleared' basic training.
some say his kill streak called in the A bomb on Hiroshima , if he'd have got a 360 no scope and one more knife kill he'd have unlocked the golden skin for that machine gun
Quite the awesome clash when you think about it. His enemies sacrifice themselves to take ten lives on order and he takes hundred to save his men on his own will.
*" His enemies sacrifice themselves to take ten lives on order and he takes hundred to save his men on his own will."* Uhm - No? The Japaneses the defenders, the US was the invading force that at that time already has shown to not care about bombing civilians, later even specifically targeted civilians and then occupied parts of the country for decades. Both sides were waging war, but in this instance the US was the attacker.
Did you even watch the video? They were ordered to kill 10 each in a last stand. Which they didn’t but that’s beside the point. Whilst he wasn’t ordered and killed almost a hundred in his last stand on his own will.
Cpt. Saloman, I salute you! (posthumously) One of those great unsung American Heroes. I would love to see a movie, or at least a documentary. Brought tears to my eyes, thanks Simon!
Fight for "glory of the emperor", can't get motivated individually, rotten yellow teeth from living off moldy rations VS. A pog so naturally masculine the grunts ask him for training, has never seen a cavity in his life.
As an 98E myself, I would tell you that we are always soldiers first and we train as hard as any infantryman in the army. Not only do we have 2 skill sets, we also have to train as medics in the field and must be on our A game at all times if called to perform and work as medics. The title Dental Specialist might seem like an easy title, but rest assured, it is no easy task. We have to perform and are beholden to the same standards as any soldier in the U.S. Army. And here's another tidbit. There are even Dental Specialists who train with the famous 82nd Airborne. I was offered to join them but turned down the offer. Combat Dentistry "is" a real thing. So for all you lame brain baboons who mock the Dental Corp, just remember this; You try running an obstacle course with full M.O.P.P. Level gear in 100 degree plus heat dragging a litter and applying field aid to a sucking chest wound! Over half of you won't make it, I promise you! "Out here!"
While some are willing to be victims of the situation they find themselves in, others rise to the occasion & take control regardless of the odds. This man was one of the latter
They got one on the guy who wouldn't shoot a rifle but did use one as a stretcher. Just hope some of the guys lived and filled his shoes as sounds like he was a great loss as a person. Decent soldier, good dentist, but a real leader is hard to come by.

This is basically because before then the skills were taught but the "shoot a man shaped object" or "shoot this thing dressed as the enemy" reflexes weren't.
Sorry i took your flag, eh? Ya bunch of hosers
@@harryohrt5255 thats your father in law sir.
@@BreadKazynski Huh ? I thought the term 'father in law' only applied to the father of one's spouse.
"I'm here to kick ass and prescribe sugarless gum, and I'm all out of gum."
Hey Simon, can badass week be extended to badass month?
Alex Feinberg or even badass of the week, and keep it going. So, many badasses.
Jason Flay That's a great idea. We need to make this happen.
Or better yet make a whole new channel "Killers, Murderers and Rapists of History!" You guys should love it.
"Nobody dishes out pain and suffering quite like a dentist" really needed a rimshot after.
Thank you so very much. I had learned about the injustice done to this very brave man, it cheers me that his heroism was at last recognized.
that guy deserves a movie!
good lord, that story literally seems like it's from some op anime character, smart as heck and deadly in combat seemingly invulnerable to bullets, this man was a fucking god!
Nathan West i agree lol #SAO 3 new character!
@MJmorceau
SAO sux
"You cannot kill me, I have not the permission to die"
This would make a great movie
SOURAVE MEL already is, make Rambo a dentist and you're good to go
Or a nice challenge mission in a World War II themed videogame. And that would be a tough challenge mission...
Capt Solomon is one of the greatest soldier medics in the history of the US Army.
… history of the world not just the army
And that was doktor assisted homicide.
Eins, zwei, drei... Ugh, I do not think ve brought enough body bags.
Haha! Vat a bloodbath!
Ups! Zat was not medicine.
Medic!
Chuy lmao tf2
We need many more like him, Rest easy Sir. Thank you🙏🇺🇸
What's your research process like? I mean how do you find out about these people and events?
He just googles "heroes forgotten by everyone" :)
He just looks at the family tree of chuck norris. Btw its a giant seqouia.
reddit.
Every Medal of Honor awarded and their accompanying narratives can be found online at the Medal of Honor’s website.
273 thumbs up for this comment? Ahh... Nevermind, I'm not surprised
Aeolwind true. Makes me smh. BTW loved the show MASH
A dentist who didn't mind "filling" in on a machine gun to buy time for his bros to escape. A true hero. Thank you Mr.Soloman.🇺🇸✌🏻️
Ben L Salamon is the original chuck norris.
hashirama senju rambo
That is a movie i would see
"Nobody knows how to dish out pain and suffering quite like a dentist." PERFECT sir! You deserve some kind of a small reward for that one....
It'd make a nice T-shirt with his name, rank,& pic on it.
some say his kill streak called in the A bomb on Hiroshima , if he'd have got a 360 no scope and one more knife kill he'd have unlocked the golden skin for that machine gun

It is official, Rambo was a dentist.
Michael Haney
naw, Rambo wished he was this dentist.
We should have just sent 2 dentists to Vietnam.
😂😂
Not necessarily. We were never militarily defeated in Vietnam.
@@ottokiehl5413 OK, three dentists. The Viet Cong would have surrendered.
Well, there's more than one way to rearrange someones teeth.

As he faced the enemy, he shouted, "YOU NEED DENTAL HYGIENE! I AM A DENTIST! OPEN WIDE!"
And so, Solomon became Samson as he falleth upon glorious end.
Well, he was a dentist. They are all experts at causing pain. Naturally, he was perfect for slaughtering enemy soldiers.
This man is a real legend like seriously
Aiden Carlo
yup, he is
This man should be in history books. Make a movie about him already!
Quite the awesome clash when you think about it. His enemies sacrifice themselves to take ten lives on order and he takes hundred to save his men on his own will.
*" His enemies sacrifice themselves to take ten lives on order and he takes hundred to save his men on his own will."*
Uhm - No?
The Japaneses the defenders, the US was the invading force that at that time already has shown to not care about bombing civilians, later even specifically targeted civilians and then occupied parts of the country for decades.
Both sides were waging war, but in this instance the US was the attacker.
Did you even watch the video?
They were ordered to kill 10 each in a last stand. Which they didn’t but that’s beside the point. Whilst he wasn’t ordered and killed almost a hundred in his last stand on his own will.
Yeah which is no easy feat
ABaumstumpf: A little anti-American, eh? Still mourning Hitler's defeat?
"The US was the attacker". Haha. Fuck off. Bush did Pearl Harbor too, huh?
Cpt. Saloman, I salute you! (posthumously) One of those great unsung American Heroes. I would love to see a movie, or at least a documentary. Brought tears to my eyes, thanks Simon!
You do what you have to do and all you have to do, is whatever it takes. What a warrior. Thanks for the vid!
Interesting story, tell more of these small stories
sabaton needs to make a song about this guy
Definitely! I would listen to that on repeat!
Fuck yeah... I’m sure they’ll do that eventually lol.
Bro.... that would be awesome
With him being a dentist it would have to be called the bringer of pain or something like that.
PRIMO VICTORIA (SALOMON VERSION)
SEVENTH OF JULY NINETEEN FORTY FOUR. SALOMON IS DEFENDING HIS MATES.
I DON'T HAVE ANYMORE.
Kudos to Captain Love, General Jennings and Dr West for their perseverance to get this done. Thank you for sharing such a great story.
"You're all going to feel a little pinch, but trust me this won't hurt"
the 98 Virgin Japanese soldiers vs the Chad dentist
"Out here!"
I think you're wrong on one point: at least 3/4 of us wouldn't make it. Hats off to you sir!
It could be said he was a killer driller.
Ralph The Wonder Llama "knight"
He used to be a "drill sergeant" you know
Instead of filling cavities, he was dealing them out!
That Eagle Scout is what made him such a good “warrior” right off the bat.
While some are willing to be victims of the situation they find themselves in, others rise to the occasion & take control regardless of the odds. This man was one of the latter
HERE, HERE!!!! NOT GOING LET SOBS WIN!
He found himself dead is what he did.
How has this not been made into a movie?
They got one on the guy who wouldn't shoot a rifle but did use one as a stretcher. Just hope some of the guys lived and filled his shoes as sounds like he was a great loss as a person. Decent soldier, good dentist, but a real leader is hard to come by.
This dude is the definition of “American Badass”
I'm glad to see that this guy can be remembered for what he did
