Just bought this today comes in on Friday, planning to upgrade to the 16gb, you’re vidoes were super helpful!!! Can’t wait to play on it
@tigerstripe4429 This is a great little machine that doesn't break the bank. Later on you can upgrade the SSD as well (tutorial video coming soon) and you'll have a nice gaming and all-around laptop. Do you plan on using it for work or study as well?
i just got one friday deff wanna upgrade!
@@techknowlux how do I upgrade the RAM? i just bought this and am planning on upgrading
@@techknowlux how long ago did you post the ssd tutorial? i cant seem to find it.
Just got this for 640 USD from Lenovo, 3rd video I've watched of yours on this laptop. Very helpful!
@chadog900 So happy to hear that. Glad to see you enjoyed my videos to watch multiple.
Thanks a lot man.
You're welcome!
Hey friend, do you know if it's possible to change the DDR5 8GB that come with the laptop?
i was wondering if you can help me, i got an LOQ i5-12450H (4050), what's the recommended or ideal frequency (Mhz) & max ddr5 memory i can install on it. thanks
nice video, Ramadan Mubarak Brother !!!
@m77x Thank you so much. Ramadan Mubarak to you too!
amazing video , keep going
Thank you, I will. What was your favorite part?
Just upgraded mine to 16g ram and 2tb samsung 990... love it!!
Amazing. Glad to hear it. What games will you be loading up to start playing? Do you do any video editing or content creation also?
sorry, does LENOVO LOQ 16APH8 82XU003XRK support 16 and 16 ram=32 gb?
Caught a sale at best buy and got this for 799.99 yesterday!
@isometrixk That's a smokin deal!
Same here !
I got one to and it works great I’m gunna upgrade my ram and ssd
Got mines for 699 at best buy glad i did!
I got mine at Best Buy to right before the sale ended and I’m happy with it ,
I was wondering, what’s the max amount of ram you can have? I just purchased a 8gm ddr5 ram of the same brand as the one already inside the Lenevo. But I may wanna get more in the future. Great video thanks!
@galaxy7675 Glad you enjoyed the video. The max for this laptop according to Lenovo is 32GB DDR5 (2x16GB). Were you thinking at some point you may need to upgrade 32GB or even more?
May I ask which one that is?
Hi, thanks for making this video, I recently watched the 1st video and I just finished watching this one, I was very intrigued about the laptop reading 4-channel memory instead of 2(dual channel) memory, I just recently got this laptop for my wife cause her 10-year-old laptop finally died, my question is, will all laptops read
4 channel instead of 2 channel in the vios after installing the 2nd memory stick of DDR5? Or it just happens to be in this particular laptop? Originally I was going to get my wife the same laptop that I have and get the same upgrades that to mine on hers, my laptop has DDR5 and reads 2(dual) memory sticks after the upgrade and I made sure that the laptop was reading the memory speeds correctly, here is my laptop with upgrades, Victus 15.6 gaming Ryzen 5 7535hs nvidia geforce RTX 2500 2 sticks of 16GB Kingston FURY™ Beast DDR5 memory for a total of 32GB and I upgraded to a Pro Level - 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen-4.0 x4 3D TLC NAND Flash 1GB LPDDR4 DRAM Cache M.2 NGFF (2280) Solid State Drive - Kingston.
@99subigt It's fine because the architecture for DDR5 is different. It is now dual-channel by default. So two DIMM sticks will still be dual channel x 2.
Hi, thanks so much for your videos, i have just purchased a lenovo loq 15 IRH8, 2022 model, it has intel i5-12450H, RTX 3050, and 8GB ram which arrives in a couple of days, i want to order another 8GB ram stick but just want to make sure there is another slot for ram (2 in total) to add another stick of ram, do you know if it has 2 ram slots for my 2022 model please ?
It does
@JaySingh-fu2sg I can confirm that the Lenovo 15 IRH8 will have a second slot for upgrading the RAM.
Thanks guys, i just added extra 8gb ram. Now need to get another ssd as running outta space😅
The link you posted is directing towards a 4800 MHz ram rather than 5600MHz can you provide another link or a similar 5600 ram??
@hawkeye4986 Looks like Amazon in Canada is being stupid. The Patriot 8GB DIMM 5600MHz is out of stock or no longer available. It's still available on Amazon US. If you need another option you can look at this one: amzn.to/3S7Nxf7. But it seems that pricing has gone haywire. They've doubled for a single 8GB DIMM than what I paid. Not sure what's happening with RAM and Amazon CA. Apologies but might be best to look to a local computer shop if you're in Canada for a more affordable option.
Whats the difference between the one from crucial and patriot? Or at that point its mostly base off Opinion.
@alanalanruiz As long as they're the same speeds not much. There are some lower level timings that can vary from one manufacturer to other due to the fact that they may use different dies, but for the most part, it won't matter. Just get 5600Mhz DDR5 SODIMM and you're good to go!
In my opinion 16gb is still okay right now, but in the next 3 years 32 gb will be required
Maybe. Maybe not. All of this AI needs massive amounts of RAM. But they're adding dedicated hardware chips instead. So we will see.
i think if your games need 32gb of ram, you will need a new cpu and new gpu by that point as well, going from 8 or 16gb to 32gb will only do so much, compared to a 2025 cpu and new 5050/5060 whatever gfx card.
Hi brother, Great content. Can you please confirm if RAM is upgradable to 64GB ?? I will buy once you confirm. Thank You.
@KaleemullaMohammed Only 32GB max RAM on this model.
Mine has 8gb ram. Is it okay to put different size in the 2nd slot but have same 5600mhz speed. Like 8gb+16gb?
Yes totally fine.
hey got that laptop for my brother i saw people were doing tests on hybrid mode so it switches automaticly for game? or i should leave on dgpu mode always ? im confused
if its being used to play new games alot, u should have it on dgpu mode, which also should take off auto select and optimus and make the screen connect dirrectly to the dGpu, it should also most likely be in performance mode, altho u can take 5 minutes to check your fps in these games, and try different power plans, such as balanced or custom. i personally put on dgpu only which also takes off optimus for me, giving me a good 20 fps, and then performance power plan gives me another 15% or whatever.....basically doing those simple things is probably all u should ever mess with and they work fine to max out this laptop and make it all run to its basically high performance for gaming.
@@TerryD5000 i see, I'm using dgpu always and battery performance all on max, but in Lenovo vantage normal mode cause in performance temps are higher
@@justrose4905 also, i know its hard to want to, why would i want to do this i think to myself, but in some games an fps limiter, either ingame one if it works well or through other means, can make a big difference, hell divers 2 for example i get 90 fps on max/ultra on my loq 4050, but its 99% gpu usage and not exactly stable, if i limit fps to 60, i dont see or feel a difference, other than less choppy/less stutter and cpu/gpu usage go down by 20-40%. can matter more than reducing half the settings, on some games.
@@justrose4905 that and i make sure to just close lid and sometimes restart, generally shut down is bad, but most people use it without knowing. but i restart my computer every few days can help alot, as well as not running any other programs while gaming, and since i have 8gb ram, i make sure to end task on edge from eating 300mb ram when not even in use.
@@TerryD5000 yeah make sense, my brother has loq with 4050 as well xD
is it okay if I have 8gb ram then I bought 16gb ram so i can have 24gb ram in total? some people say I should buy the same size 2x8gb, 2x16gb? can someone help me to explain it?
@dhaniynr.2714 To see a larger performance benefit it is better to buy the same capacity and install matching pairs. 2 x8GB or 2x16GB modules. But there is no harm and slight performance reduction if you use 1 8GB module and 1 16GB module. But nothing will stop it from working.
Can you provide a link for the ram you used, and a compatible ssd please
RAM link: amzn.to/3RIwznl
SSD that I would recommend. WD drives have been solid. amzn.to/41mjnaM.
@@techknowlux thank you
@stewie2k746 Very welcome. I've added to the description of the vid as well for future and others' reference.
@@techknowluxcan i install gen 3 ssd as they are cheaper and I don’t really care about loading speeds. Just want to know if gen 3 ssd will work.
Tengo la de 4060 con 8 gb de ram, solo podia jugar helldivers 2 con todo al mínimo a 40 fps, ahora subí a 16 y cambio todo!, todo en alto y algunas cosas en ultra siempre a 60 fps
@germanmanterola6052 Good to hear. Games are more memory hungry than ever. 32GB really should be the minimum in new 2024 laptops - especially when considering that many smartphones have 16GB of RAM.
Do you think i should get this laptop with the rtx 4050 8gb ram or the rtx 2050 with 32gb ram?
@12scythe21 Don't get the 2050 no matter what. Stay with the 4050 and get 8GB of RAM. It's quite easy to upgrade the RAM yourself to 16 or 32GB total.
@@techknowlux thank you
i just got the 4050 one friday i love it! cant wait to upgrade my ram
rtx 2050 will be trash and barely run new games, 4050 8gb is fine as it is and will play most games in med to ultra settings depending on your fps likings. atleast for a year or so, the 4000 series are kind of trash imo, but its a great build, lenovo is decent this year, i did the 4050 and hopefully i can use it well until the 5050 cards become affordable in some 2025 or 2026 laptop.
got loq 15 with 4060 and it only cost 50$ more than the 4050 model, i'll be upgrading ssd and ram next
@yeahboyz9314 the prices are nuts at retail but there are some amazing deals to be found and had. great find.
How well do you think World of Warcraft would run on this laptop at max graphics?
@lulumo9229 I haven't tested WoW and I'm not an mmorpg player myself. Does WoW support DLSS or Frame Generation? Something to look into. But overall WoW is not that demanding of a game and should run well on this laptop and the RTX 4050.
@techknowlux WoW does not support DLSS yet. I don't usually play with max graphics anyway so it should run decently. I also plan to upgrade the RAM and SSD eventually. Thanks for the reply!!
Tengo esta computadora portátil y el wow funciona a más de 200 fps.
What about adding 16 GB to the 8 GB for total of 24 GB?
Also, the original 8GB is 5600 stick, but the intel cpu limits the speed to 5200. Then, should I buy a 5200 speed ram or 5600? Or does it even matter?
@Ravill When buying additional RAM buy what matches the speed of what's currently installed in your system. The fact that your CPU is running at 5200Mhz is a separate issue. If the RAM says 5600, then your system RAM should be running at 5600. Might want to look into this. All in all though, it matters very little. Maybe single percentage points performance differences.
@@techknowlux well, my concern is compatibility. The lenovo LOQ series intel CPUs dont allow higher than 5200, although they installed 5600 sticks themselves. Probably because they didnt want to buy separate sticks for intel since AMD models run 5600 fine
I bought 1x 32gb sodimm ddr5 5600 module…. Will it run?
@dieponyreiter No. The maximum supported module is 1x16GB. Please check the official specs sheets for your specific model and serial number combo so that you get the exact items supported. I would suggest you go with 2x16GB for a total of 32GB max if that was your goal.
Thx for the reply! Strangely enough, it does run on one module 32gb ( got the LOQ 15APH8 82XT008BMH )….. also thought 2x 16gb was the max 🫤
I have same laptop so I was wondering can I put two sticks of 16gb in it or should I just go with two sticks of 8gb?
and which brad should I buy?
@stefandjokovic6065 It's up to your needs. If you're just gaming and doing school work, light stuff, then go with 2 sticks of 8gb for a total of 16gb RAM. If you're going to do any audio production, video editing, 3d modeling, architecture work, then go for 32GB of RAM total with two 16gb sticks. What's your intended use-case?
Does it FreeBSD?
@hadeseye2907. Probably yes. But with lots of trouble. You'll need to roll a custom build with the latest kernel and that means package compatibility issues possibly. Ubuntu runs out of the box without issue.
could i put a 16 gb stick of ram ?
@devontaofwg Yes you can. The LOQ 15 supports up to 2x16GB RAM modules for a total of 32GB of memory.
16gb system ram plus 8gb vram is necessary for a very good 1440p gaming experience with ultra settings
Are you saying 24GB in total? What's your reasoning? Please share so we can all benefit.
@@techknowluxhe means gpu vram. 8gb
vram in his gpu, but this laptop's screen is 1080p so idk what he talking about 1440p lol.
Just bought this yesterday should i max out to 32 gb with 2 16gb sticks
@Daoldman Check out the prices on some RAM. Sometimes on sale it's cheaper to get a 32GB kit. In that case, heck yeah, max it out and you'll be good for a long while.
sometimes 16gb runs much better than 32gb for some reason, or so i have seen in some videos.
It is worth it to upgrade 16gb ram + 16gb ram?
@jenobmotovlog3160 Yes, why not? If you're only using for Facebook or just browsing then no need.
can we upgrade to 32 or 64gb?
@ivaniniguez9707 32GB is the max limit on this laptop.
My loq just started lagging after upgrading it to 16gb ram.. same brand, same hhz
@PlayFrost I've started experiencing this too now. Went back to the original 8GB stick and am still seeing this issue. Going to contact Lenovo for support as I've reinstalled Windows and re-install all drivers and everything and the problem still exists with all the latest BIOS updates etc. What have you tried so far?
@@techknowluxare you still experiencing lag?
Definitely 16gb is the way to go
Dont forget that some app can have memory leak here and there
And with app eating up more and more ram i think 16 to 32 is safe unless you willing to use tons of pagefile
Yes, indeed. Perhaps, the next comparison should be 8 vs 16 vs 32 GB of RAM from a gamer's perspective.
@@techknowlux yes, please. I am thinking of buying this laptop only for gaming. What do u think.? Is it good for only hardcore gaming? And what things should I consider when upgrading it?
got this one on sale at best buy friday 669 after tax!
@devontaofwg Amazing deal. At 1080p this thing can play most everything at High or Ultra. With DLSS it's even more capable.
@@techknowlux I actually use this as a 4K gaming device with HDMI to my 120hz TV with HDR 🏌🏾♂️❤️🔥
This laptop is the best bang for your buck.
100% agree
Are lowering the laptop's resolution to FHD 1080p? Because I've tried that once and screen starts flickering.
LOQ i5 13420H, RTX 4050, 16GB dual channel RAM.
My model only has a 1080p display. Does your model come with a 1440p/QHD display? And what games have you tested with?
@techknowlux Mine comes with QHD. Been paying Spidey Miles Morales, Spidey Remastered, and The Witcher 3. Using DLSS on, FG on, RT off I get 70-100 fps in those games. A good 2k gaming experience
Very nice. I couldn't find the QHD when I ordered mine. Lol. The QHD has much better color reproduction then the base 1080p panel. It's pretty impressive how good even the RTX 4050 is with DLSS and Frame Gen. What was your first impression with those frame rates? Were you impressed, surprised, maybe a bit shocked about how good a 4050 really is, especially when combined with DLSS and Frame Gen?
@@techknowlux Honestly I'm impressed now that 2k gaming experience is achievable in entry-mid budget. I dont understand much about the color reproduction, but it's vivid. DLSS 3 is really great. Those fps improvement is real, and the input lag is fine, unless you play competitive FPS games.
Coming from an i5 10300H & GTX 1650 gaming laptop, I just glad for the upgrade I get. From a low-mid 1080p setting, now I can go mid-high 2k setting.
@arkerj Wow this is a huge upgrade coming from a GTX 1650. I remember that GPU. This blows it out of the water completely. A much improved gaming experience without breaking the bank.
Are you still getting lag???
@CentralNH Lag went away after a further BIOS update and re-install of latest NVIDIA drivers. Try to use display device uninstaller (DDU) and do a clean uninstall of all drivers for NVIDIA by booting into safe mode, then reboot and install drivers again. Hopefully it'll resolve the issue.
i personally wouldnt consider 8gb for gaming, at least 16, but with demanding games and chat/streaming apps and browsers with many tabs open, 16gb is not enough. 32gb is my go to. i dont see/know reason to go higher than 32 at all
i mean if you do rendering then 32 gb might not be enough, but then if you need more than 32 gb you ahould get a pc instead
Whats the specs of this ?
@garrymarpna5989 Here you go: ruclips.net/video/-2w5PE1X1SQ/видео.html

Amazing. Is that with a RTX 4050? I would highly recommend picking it up if you're in the market. Let me know your experience with it.
@@techknowlux Yes the 4050 version. Just pulled the trigger, paid 762 USD after tax. Picking it up today, will let you know.
