"Charlie Cobb: Nice Night for a Hanging," 1977 TV Pilot Opening

These are the opening scenes from the western detective feature “Charlie Cobb: Nice Night for a Hanging,” a 1977 NBC-TV pilot for a series starring Clu Gulagher as a cheapskate and not overly brave private eye operating in the Old West. In this pilot, Cobb (Gulagher) is employed to find and return to her family a wealthy rancher’s long-lost daughter who was kidnapped many years before.
This quite enjoyable film was written by Peter S. Fischer, and executive produced by William Link and Richard Levinson, who created “Columbo” and other series. Guest starring here are Blair Brown, Ralph Bellamy, Stella Stevens, Tricia O'Neil, and Pernell Roberts. The music is by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter.
