I watched the first episode. He said Karl wasn't Charlemagne. And I don't remember him saying anything about an achievement. Just that since Karl wasn't Charlemagne, he rather play the underdog: Karloman. That said, it is his video and it is entertaining as always. If he wants to play Karloman, great. I said "a pity" because I felt he wanted to play as Charlemagne. If it wasn't his intention from the begining, my mistake.
Karl actually happens to have a claim on both his brother AND Lombardy. After a random death I managed to gain middle Francia and then declared war on the child king of Lombardy. After getting the pope to 100 formed the HRE and had a Saxon even pop up.....it's only 773 -_-
This happened when I was playing as a Saxon Jarl. It was a nice three nation Europe then suddenly BAM West Francia from Brittany to Sicily. Then good King Karl decided Saxony looked nice and sent a lovely doomstack to ruin my tribal fun. Reloaded and Middle and West Francia both succumed to terrible revolts, shattering the two kingdoms into a plethora of civil wars while Lombardy strengthened its hold on Italy. I love this game!
the rebel didnt rebel against u per se so it doesnt count for traitor. plus who else would have liked the idea of seniority succession making karl the heir?
Charlemagne ruled a bunch of kingdoms and was the first to be crowned holy roman emperor by the pope correct?(in the most simple form) What ended up bring down an empire that big? The Roman empire was so large and grand only itself had the power to bring it down, did this also happen with the Holy Roman empire? [ i know i could look it up but i like different peoples opinions on history :) ]
Well Ben Cook is right about the ultimate end of the HRE, but Charlemagne's HRE was divided into France, Italy and the medieval HRE (modern day Germany and Austria) because his sons inherited different parts. These kingdoms eventually ended up in different families and Italy broke up into city states.
So Napoleon kind of did a Hannibal Barca move. That's intense! lol. Thanks for the quick history lesson you two, always good to see the comments being used for something more than hate or bitching lol
Yes, they changed norse to germanic, and they added One in eastern europe, (Can't remember the name atm, new, but without unique mechanics,) Ibadi is now it's own religion with it's own heresy possible. And that's all i can really think of off the top of my head, oh and the religious map of N africa changed in the 867 start.
Also, nearly all pagan starts in 769 are now tribal governments, including the Scandinavian nations, Rus nations, the new Saxony, and a collection of Eastern European nations (Poland, Pomerania, etc.). Ireland is tribal as well, but they all follow Christianity.
***** Dont base people off their country, but on their personality. Russian nature is beautiful, there are alot of different religions, customs and cultures in Russia. Hell, Russia even gave me the most pretty girl in my entire life.
showmemoviesnow Because of Gameplay reasons. In example, you think there's just a "German" Culture? If they did make all those different cultures, they'd add almost nothing to the game (as cultures don't do much in CK2) and would just add more revolts, as you get revolt risk if you're holding a county with different culture, among other things
@AlbinoRhino he's known for his ck2 and EU videos. Seriously man get a clue, he hasn't played nearly as much ck2 as he has, and many people have been harping on him. Leave the dude alone, if you don't like the way he run his channel leave!
Why would you not make your brother court jester?
Series over folks, go home.
and just like that, the LP was over. Im now going to wait for paradox to make a new DLC
A pity Arumba got confused and did not pick Charlemagne to play.
He was not confused. He did it intentional. There is an actual achievement to form the Empire of France as Karloman.

***** He actually is playing as Charlemagne, read the text and you will see.
The Transdimensional Meerkat No he's not. He's playing as Charlemagne's brother. Read the text and you will see.
The Transdimensional Meerkat
Charlemagne literally means "Karl the Great". Karloman was Karl's younger brother, who died pretty young.
I found myself laughing a lot more to this video while enjoying the gameplay when I changed the speed to .5 As always, great video Arumba!
I must admit, this campaign has gone incredibly well for you thus far, Arumba. Now go show those Pagans, heathen, future vassals who's boss!
if you have a terrible ruler then you could pick a good regent then go into hiding forever
Then that Regent basically is the king and you can do nothing
Yay, I was hoping this would pop up right about now :)
Go Arumba. Go and paint the world gray. Or blue, if you roll the way of France.
"It's led by Duke Guillaume of Toulouse...my regent....." lol classic
Year 772, Charlemagne's empire conquered.
Thanks for watching, gg..

Yes?
What you think the real Karl the Great did?
Also you get the lombardy claim by an event.

Designating the heir of your choice as regent seems like a great idea to me
lol An ambitious duke as regent, I'm sure its gonna be alright xD
Oh man I've always wanted to be able to designate a regent, I thought it was so dumb it wasn't there. Paradox sure are slow but they are good :)
Arumba, please do a co op or a vs with Surrealbeliefs!
the rebel didnt rebel against u per se so it doesnt count for traitor.
plus who else would have liked the idea of seniority succession making karl the heir?
I think a issue with designating regents is that you don't know the regents opinion of your heir.
You can just check it
You really should do something about that whole slothful thing.
The charlemange dlc and new patch are pretty cool, but now I have no idea how the Norse work.
Arumba, you missing the new portraits dlc.
I'm surprised his french pronunciations bother me so much
guys, calm down he still need to form the HRE
sought (pronounced s- oT)
is the word you were looking for.

Is it possible to train boats and or build merchant posts on major rivers like the Seine?
did anyone notice the county called Eu? Do you think they plan on conquering europe with a fancy money sign?
Well it's now Middle and Upper Francia, so... Where's Lower Francia?
It's in between East and West Virginia.
oh c'mon, Arumba, coerce doesn't have an h in it's pronunciation
did they add any new religions in this patch?
Yes, they changed norse to germanic, and they added One in eastern europe, (Can't remember the name atm, new, but without unique mechanics,) Ibadi is now it's own religion with it's own heresy possible. zunist i think was the name
Zunist, New muslim heresy and ibadi is it's own religion

An exemption to this, is the petty king of Jorvik, for what ever reason he starts feudal.
Khal Drogo????
Flanders? Really? No mate, it's the Eastern Netherlands ;)

WHAT IS "FRENCH" CULTURE ?? will it effect and eu4 convert ?
French culture is French....
I believe French becomes Cosmopolitane when converting.
showmemoviesnow
And? That's not what he asked
showmemoviesnow the occitan are present in ck2, and also the norman and the basque
