and if the sidewalk is so important then they couldve built a curb extension around the tower so people can still get around it without walking in the street
Imagine being a normal roleplayer in this server, doing your own thing when suddenly an ominous message pops up saying "Alright thats enough | The shits and giggles are over, I will start kicking people" and you're just left there thinking some rogue admin is going around kicking for no reason lmao

I remember one time on a Dark RP server me and several (8) of other hobos built in the undergrounds and claimed it was our dominion. Anyway a thief VIP player went down there and got beaten to death with poo thrown at him with 5-6 hobos screaming in their mics, we also did this to other people with them running and screaming, either dying or escaping the underground. He calls the admin in and claims "RDM" because there was no KOS signs. While mister guy here didn't see the various signs and skulls placed down with the text "HE WHO ENTER NO COME BACK". The admin agreed because "No KOS sign" (he spent $15 on their server.) Gmod admins aren't there to have fun, they are there to enforce their friends and paypigs do.
I love how, throughout the years, there is still nothing more fun to do than to irritate gmod admins

People are complaining about how "power hungry" these admins which are just trying to have fun are, while you're saying how fun it is to irritate them. so fucking funny.

Servers should have a rule of fun: if everyone on the server is enjoying it, it should be allowed. If only some people are getting bothered the mods should attempt to make a compromise.

@@Triple_Affirmative Those servers started slowly dissapearing after the garrysmod13 update from what i saw. I used to know a server where you could unlock every single tool through playing with points. By the last week of the server you could do whatever you wanted.
Hence why I just stick to zombie survival.
I got permabanned for stealing a government vehicle on that server.
This entire server is like the time they removed seating from the New York subway because homeless people were resting on them, inconveniencing everyone and further ruining the lives of the homeless in the process.
The world is so messed up and backwards…

I swear every time I've been on a DarkRP server, they have like a set baseline for fun that evolves over time. When a server is newer, everyone there is having a blast. The older it gets, the worse the administration gets until the server collapses. It's kinda sad but that's how it usually is.

This server *did* have a serious case of a "no rp" rule, "You cannot raid the PD" what??? i understand rules against certain things that wouldnt be possible in the real world, but defending against PD raids should be down to the police of the police rp....
@Stevean2 I accidentally littered on the sidewalk a day ago, then I suddenly cannot feel my body as if I was frozen and I can only see myself getting dragged in the air until we reach a nearby roof somewhere. This divine entity started questioning me, "Do you know why you're here?" and before I could even say anything, it suddenly pulled out a giant hammer and then everything went black for me...
The next time I woke up was I was lying on my bed, and apparently 7 days has skipped. No one has yet to believe my story, and they think I play too much video games.

You need to use the admins to rp. Everything you do hasto be an event with the admin. If you have someone in ur home wanting to rp? Call an admin for you not doing everything exactly as I say. And then the game is you.
Getting banned off a Gmod sever for building stuff with props is like getting ban off a Minecraft sever for mining some ores.
Or getting banned from Forza for driving fast.

That literally happened to me once. Mined some ores that happened to be below someone's base (I'm talking 60~ blocks below) and got permanently banned for "Base griefing"

They are getting rid of potentially cool RP scenarios that are naturally occurring.
Exactly non of these to servers know what role playing actually is, it’s a culmination of naturally flowing plots that lead to something great. You don’t just start off with greatness, all these admins want to do is power trip not rp and that’s just sad

i think rp servers like this should have seperate server rules and rp laws, so the admins can only enforce the server rules while people rping as the cops can enforce the rp laws

This. This is the only reason alot of these servers exsist today. Purely as a means to vent your rage on a 12$ hosted server full of infinite number of anonymous people you can pick to abuse and take your anger out on. I was an admin and a damn good one. These people don't want that. They got mad because I actually made the server fun for the people again and the admins didn't have anyone to abuse. So they banned me.

I swear, RP servers are less about having fun and roleplaying a funny character doing antics than reading the 50,000 word essay of a rules page, not doing anything interesting, and trying not to get banned nowadays.
It makes me wonder how RP gamemodes on S&box will turn out.
It doesn't even matter if someone didn't like what you did. The whole server could be in on the joke, having a nice moment together, and some dumbass admin would STILL read off some part of the dumbass rules to you and lecture you. The fact it's as common as it is disappoints me.

I feel bad for the admin that had to relay the message to the guys building the tower. If I saw correctly in the sped up bit, I think he even might have helped out or something. It sounds like he genuinely wanted to have fun on the server.
I was an admin for a darkrp server for a while and when people would goof off like this id never do anything unless they were doing something to ruin
someone elses fun. I get theres rules they need to enforce, but when everyone is clearly having fun doing something innocent like spawning props on the sidewalk why would you come in and shut that down? Just makes people not have fun on your server and theyll leave.

Exactly my mindset for the one month I spent moderating on a HL2RP server, only taking action when what was happening was disruptive and affected others negatively most of the time.

i used to be the assistant chief (chief) of the UAPD when i played lol
staff dictated a lot of what i did and no matter what we did to please both staff and the PD it backfired
for example:
copbaiting (going out and fucking with cops with the primary focus of getting into a gunfight or chase) was a terroristic act
so was ramming ur car into a PD car at 80 then driving off (makes it where we could shoot the vehicle whenever we wanted)
though, i miss the guys under me.

but the owner tried to act nice and cool whenever I was around, as well as with other chiefs before hand. after i left though, he really tried to put a 'emphasis' on "serious rp"
also kept changing the rules around
for example PD could be sued and loss budget it had
and when it lost its entire budget it would have to have a consequence
originally it was 35 M or something like that (money was hard to get) and i sued them twice for about 2 mil total (i was the first to do it) and the owner got pissed that his chief was suing the pd, so he revoked the right to\.
