Holy spaghetti, Loki will always be the god of mischief, but as Thor believed in the Ragnarok movie, he could aim to be much more, like now finally Loki is theoretically the God of Time and Space with his time-slipping abilities in full control....I like that Loki fully admitted his core secret of trying to belong to someone(his friends) or something(TVA). My theory on two ways this could go in the season finale next week: 1.) All of this is still He Who Remains backup, a secret plan to restore control back to himself 2.) Loki will become the leader of TVA, as the true He Who Remains in the comics who is not a variant of Kang the Conqueror.

Not sure if there’s been another MCU character who's experienced the amount of growth that Loki has shown since the MCU started.
He went from the annoying, jealous brother to one of the deepest and most compelling characters in the entire MCU.
Tom Hiddleston's eye-acting alone does it for me.

It's so cool that "Casey" was in reality Frank Morris one of the Alcatraz Raft Escapees. He even looks like Morris a bit. It is unknown if they survived but that scene of them landing on the beach must be Angel Island where the Raft was found. The story of the escape is so cool. They built dummy heads out of plaster and real hair from the barbershop on Alcatraz and the raft was made from waterproof raincoats glued together and inflated by using an Accordion as Billows.

Ngl I was totally expecting there to be a massive twist of Loki building the TVA. The fact that they used the same room for OB’s workshop for normal OB’s writing room, I was expecting the reveal to be that they formed the “new” TVA out of the land where OB worked, especially after mention nobody lived around him for miles. Like somehow since the TVA is a place out of time, this was somehow the future AND way in the past, and Loki was the one who recruited all the variant versions of the main cast

Not a marvel fan at all, what I noticed about this show is that they do a great job at hinting at obvious plot points only to go in an entirely different direction. It’s not even trope level prediction and subversion because it’s their own story beats. And the other path they take is way more interesting and mysterious than the path you thought was an obvious step. The reason why I don’t like marvel is exactly for the former reason. It’s way too predictable and doesn’t tickle my mind or keep me engaged. This show however is in par if not better than most of the films or shows I’ve ever seen. Especially at the end when they hint at it being a caper(sort of), like you said, him forming a team, only to use that sub genre of caper team building to just teach Loki a lesson and completely erase the caper plot to send him back to the TVA. Really good storytelling. Sadly this is the last season but they’ve done a wonderful job in building the dread of Kang and the destruction of the multiverse.

Like an Ouroboros loop, Loki started it and another Loki ended it since Sylvie killed HWR. The reason Loki had to finally admit that what he really wants is his friends back...to not be alone, is because powers that are triggered by feelings, can't be triggered by abstract ideas or complex emotional constructs.
It's gotta be simple, visceral...primal. Asgardians aren't human, but they're still human-like. They're social entities, they have wants and needs little different than what any mere mortal has. They generally need food and water. They need love and community. They need experiences.
Saving the multiverse is too big...too complicated...too weird for the primitive core "mind" to fathom. It can't trigger the ability. It's the same with most powers, really, including the magic Loki already uses. But simple, direct feelings...those are the golden goose of power-triggers. The simpler and more potent the feeling...the better the power's usage.
At the end of the episode...he LOST EVERYONE, all at once. Just...watched them discorporate into strands of dust. That did the trick. Strong enough, simple enough, direct enough. It got the job done. And once he recognized that, then he could control it...just as he does with his magic.

I also like how OB was right when he said it's about the "why" in order to control timeslipping. So when Loki first tred to control it, his "why" was to save TVA, but that wasn't the real why. That wasn't his true want. In the end his true "why" is that he needed to save his friends, so after admitting this, that's when it finally works.

One thing I think is important about the whole "Getting the band back together" plot point, is that the point of that entire narrative isn't anything to do with actually needing them all back together, which is why I think that aspect feels somewhat speedy. It felt like it was very intentionally speedy because that's not the point of it, their original plan of getting everyone's temporal aura and building the Tempad isn't what eventually saves them and almost acts as a little bit of misdirection.
The whole point of that narrative was for Loki to realize why he is doing what he's doing, why he wants his friends and the TVA back and as a result, realize how his his ability actually works so that he can be the one to actually fix it by Time Slipping himself, the rest of the episode is essentially set dressing for that lesson/epiphany for Loki.

This episode was freakin awesome. It's really about Loki finding his purpose and seeing everything he has gone through it's all coming together perfectly. This literally Goonies sequel spin-off story with Data all grown up and became an inventor. Literally Ke Huy Quan deserves an Emmy Award for his performance as OB as he steals scenes so well in every episode. When Loki says "I want my friends back. I don't want to be alone", that was deep and you can tell he has come a long since the events of Marvel's Avengers (2012). Literally this episode showing the Avengers: Infinity War snap affect with the timeline disappearing. Also Casey's real-life fictional story storyline is based of Frank Morris who escaped from Alcatraz in real-life, but his body was never recovered since he could've drowned. Nobody knows what really happened to the real Frank Morris. They made a movie about Frank Morris starring Cline Eastwood in the film Escape from Alcatraz.

Through all of this, I keep getting reminded of the red carpet interview with Tom Hiddleston where someone asked how he felt that Thor 2 might be his last appearance as Loki. He honestly looked crushed and sad a chapter was ending (although he likely knew there was at least one more appearance due to the ending of the movie).
Cut to now, almost exactly a decade later, and he's still fleshing out the same character and making it such a strong and unique performance, every time.

When the show writer said that episode 5 and 6 would be better, I was certain he was waffling cause I asked my self, how could you make it better than episode 4 that was arguably one of the best thing marvel has produced. And hey, he weren't wrong. Episode 6 just looks wild and the show is now answering unanswered questions as well. And to give loki the ability to time slip on command and anywhere anytime is actually insane. Might be the most powerful thing the mcu has given power to a character. And the the character arc loki has been incredible. He is literally now, my favourite in the whole mcu. And thank you marvel for finally giving us a show/movie that has the quality of the first 3 phases. Cause this is peak mcu content. Absolutely fantastic stuff.

    • @ot7biasedmashups
      @ot7biasedmashups Год назад +5

@@Siddharthh572absolutely not. This is gonna be a bit difficult to explain but the moment Kang created the Loom it has always been there right? Because it's outside of time. However. There is still the time BEFORE he created it. If timelines would just kill each other when they're free than nothing would ever BE. Which means Kang never won a multiversal war bc there wasn't a multiverse. However, the fact that everything happened the way it did just means that we as an audience have also been fooled. The reason everything is falling apart is because the Loom had a meltdown and is actively killing the branches trying to fit through.
And the only reason the Loom exists is because Kang can obviously only control an amount do timelines, not a multiverse. Especially bc that way he can make sure none of him get born.
The problem is that it might genuinely have been part of HWR's plan because Loki now wants to save the TVA and keep the sacred timeline so he won't be lonely but that's just another OB that causes everything we've seen happening.

Imagine that loki and the crew can not fix the issue. He could time slip back to stop the death of he who remains. Or even more sad, to the point he grabbed the time stone and decided never divert off his timeline. In this episode, sylvie reminded loki about how they were selfish. The show is about loki, we may have thought he has had his big character arc. But what if the real arc is him going back and not choosing to take the time stone and accepting his fate at the death of thanos. That would be the biggest arc imo.

KANG THE CONQUEROR: “I can make it…so you never left her. Hope is going to open the door and you’ll be there.”
LOKI: “I can bring you back to any point in time. It’ll be like you never left.”
When I heard this, I immediately connected it back to what Kang said in Ant-Man: Quantumania when speaking to Janet.
Loki is in real time realizing that he can control his own story…AND OTHERS. And while at that moment, he probably only intended that he could bring him back via the TempPad, he eventually figures out by the end of this episode that he can “control” his time-slipping. I love the theories that in actuality, there is a LOKI WHO REMAINS that is either further at the end than He Who Remains…and that other theory that HWR himself is still just controlling Loki’s time-slipping because this was his plan all along and he “pathed the way”, which would tie into the theme of the “ouroboros.”
Also, I think it would be cool to see Loki become this “Prime” character to recruit the Avengers in helping to stop the multiversal war. That would really be a full circle moment for the entire MCU. A Loki who has achieved his glorious purpose, now a God of Stories, helping to save endless timeless & universes from selfish, tyrannical savages trying to gain control of the multiverse.
This would absolutely solidify Loki as one of the characters in the MCU with the most dynamic redemption arc. I cannot wait for the Season Finale! I hope they won’t scrap Kang as per the rumors. We need to see our heroes go up against the Council of Kangs and Jonathon Majors has delivered FLAWLESSLY.

I like the theory of the whole Loki series just being one big time loop, and we're only now just seeing the making of the TVA.
This would also back up the other theory of everything still being part of Kang's plan because what if in the end he just wiped everybody's memories just like he did Renslayer's.
And then the only way that Loki and the others can get out of this big time loop is when they as the TVA catch Deadpool in Deadpool 3 and it's actually him who helps Loki defeat Kang and free the TVA but I think that part's a stretch.

Like I've been saying, Loki is going to become the God of Stories. The next thing they'll do is make sure to bring it back around on itself, meaning, he'll try and try to change the past, but in doing so he's only perpetuating the future. He's going to inadvertently be the reason there's a Kang in every timeline. Oh, and once he is the one to go out onto the walkway, all of the other branching versions of himself will spaghetti and cease to exist. There can be only one. Except Sylvie, she's go the tempad of HWR.

When the whole gang got spaghetti-fied, I was bawling my eyes out: "Why am I experiencing a Thanos dust moment again?!"
Also, the sandwiching of HWR "I PAVED THE WAY FOR YOU" as a prologue of this ep, and Brad's Zaniac game "YOU LOSE" after what seems like Loki's peak moment, gave me chills.
I'm conflicted because I love Loki as a character, his journey, and how both Loki seasons are going. Just like how I loved Wanda in Wandavision but disliked how they handled her downfall in Dr. Strange... I paradoxically want Loki and Wanda a win and be happy, but for entertainment purposes also want to see their downfall written brilliantly.
I still wish to see Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) reuniting before I die. I don't wanna wait any remake bs 20yrs later. I want their reunion in the MCU before the actors retire their characters.

I would also rank it 3rd, but it's definitely up there with four out of five episodes (sorry episode 2).
