this is really taking realism to the next level... i remember when i was starting in 3D and our computers had only 2 megabytes of ram, we were dreaming of the day when our characters would use bones in real time...and now this... millions of polygons just for a glove. congrats, great work!
This is truly amazing! Have you considered that this could be useful (if not even fundamental) for actual knitting-machine software development? I'm sure this is not far from turning into stitch instructions for production... Please contact Stoll or Shima Seiki!
That's pretty dam clever, reminds me of modelling rope using curves. What software do you plan on using this with? 3DS Max as a plugin or something proprietary?
I'm watching all these amazing Siggraph 2012 videos showing new techniques being introduced into the CG world. My question is though, what modeling softwares are going to have these available? Will Blender every have these new things (such as presented in the video)? Or will the"BIGGUYS" only have it (Maya, 3Ds Max, ETC)? I don't have the kind of money needed to buy Maya, I'm stuck in blender. (Love blender though)
I'm from the future, In the year 2020 and this ability isn't even within commercial software like Maya or Zbrush, Hollywood is still the monopoly on visual effects.
It appears I've woken up in a parallel universe where someone made a piece of highly competent and user friendly 3D-software for modeling knitted clothing. When/if I get back, no one will believe me.
Ceeeeeeem what is happening over there? 7 years later, literally nothing new in regards to this wonderful chunk of code you've so skillfully crafted into what is undoubtedly a commendable accomplishment! I am surprised you have not acted, surely there have been integration offers? But anyway, common, share that invested time and expertise with us! Letting it sit idle in a zip file on an external from 2012 isn't doing anyone any good =/
you are in fact in the same universe as fashion and textile producers that would like to model clothing in order to see how it looks on a moving body without having to make it. Who would of thought the same things for modeling dynamics would have a need in the fashion world - from the boyfriend of a fashion teacher.
one question mark per question is fine. Also, this isn't for you. It's for everyone. Someone will need it, and that person will use it. That's how these things typically work.
As much as I love Zbrush, micromesh and even the new nanomesh don't have the same computation / algorithm as this. The relaxation and the interactivity this code or tool has is more complex than just representing / instancing using the polygon topology of a mesh.
Couldn't hold it, my guts were spilled from amazement. This is beyond my wildest dreams. Absolutely genius. Innovation at its prime.

Wow, those last relaxation steps really take it from impressive to believable!
Wow, the results are absolutely astounding!
Pembe gömlekli adamı izlerken nasıl geldim bilemedim ama müthiş iş çıkartmışsın Cem yine, söylenecek tek şey; aklım çıktı! :)
Really great stuff guys. Would love to see ASAP in major 3D apps like 3D Studio Max.
according to KaiKostack, yes.
His channel already has a few tests for it.
Awesome! Loved the sheep and the alien at the end. LOL.
A software that even your grandma could appreciate :)
Do want!
please inform us when the commercial software or plugin is out.. i really do hope you have one integrated for maya as well.
So, is this a commercial product yet? I can't find any info on your website. Thanks.
So awesome! Hope this turns into a commercial product... I want it !!!
Interesting technique, I'm assuming that it's all instanced as a point float?
This is truly amazing!

is there a way to get my hands on this?? Is this some sort of plug-in or something, looks so good! please someone reply, Thanks
Does it work on Dinosaures too ?
Will this be integrated into hairfam?
its possible to implement this one on blender ? thx 4 share

anyone know if this technology is available in the market? I am a fashion designer and would be very useful along with clo3d and marvelous designer.
You can find the knit solver for Houdini on the odforce forum.
I would like a blender plugin with this technology
Write it yourself.
Not everyone using open source software knows how to code.

An even better question, can it be put into a Blender?
Completely awesome, but how is this resource heavy?
Cool cool cool. But where can i use it?
a free student version is available for almost all Autodesk softwares its free for 1year usage you can try that & its all latest version

how long would this take to render?
So this isn't viable for a game engine?
cem ne oldu uzun zamandır ses yok, heyecanla bekliyoruz:)
how can i use it with autodesk maya or marvelous designer????
Impresive!

where is it?
This is pretty freakin' amazing software. I'm guessing it produces a really dense mesh though, right? :/
is it available now?

awsome :| you genious, hope to see this in Blender
holy shit that looks real *______*
Lady Gaga teacup?
Looks like its a "Stand Alone" Programm with an External rederer.
i didn't get how this system will benefit me??? i mean, it's just for stitching ???!!!
watch?v=GfbxkI8YREU This guy's work in Blender was inspired by this.
We are already in it, but keep it to yourself or else Smith will come knock at your door ...
So basically its micromesh from Zbrush

A sheep in sheeps' clothing?
THE MATRIX IS COMING...
Have seen better in Poser 4.
Nope, but thanks to Cycles, it's doable.
Why not ? I have a backpack made of human skin.
LOL!!
