    I had this done today with this exact method and cannot recommend enough. It lasted for 7 minutes and honestly after about 3, I was relaxed enough to engage in conversation and forgot there was a tube down my throat at one point. It helped that I had a lovely nurse who was reassuring throughout and explained the process step by step.

    I had a transnasal upper endoscopy in my mid twenties..so they went all the way to my stomach. No sedation. I was having lots of heart burn. We were thinking maybe a stomach ulcer. I didn't want a traditional endoscopy so I opted for this procedure. I was very nervous. The doctor came in said are you sure you want to do this with out sedation because usually older people handle it bit better. I'm like nope it's ok let's do it. The worst part was getting the scope through my nose but once I swallowed the scope I barely felt anything. I could talk and watch everything. They took biopsy of my stomach and throat because I had a few nodules. I felt the tiniest pressure only and then it was over. They were all benign nodules thankfully. I went to recovery and everyone was coming out groggy..I was sitting there eating a snack 😄

      @ashleighflood6262 Год назад +2

      @@amberrose4320 sorry just seeing this now. The only uncomfortable part was them putting it in your nose. I don't think I had enough local spray in my nose. I panicked and got it on my face(i hated nasal sprays back then). The specialist did it anyway so that was bit more uncomfortable then should of been i think. Once you swallow the camera you don't feel much. Just you burp like crazy because of air and you get some pressure/nausea feeling when they take biopsies but it is super easy. They went all the way to my stomach in my last scope. I'm getting another one but just of my esophagus. This time I will just take local spray properly, I'm use to nasal sprays now so I'm thinking this 2nd experience will be even easier.

      The nose one isn't so bad, you just have to resist the urge to swallow which is really hard, you can still swallow its just difficult.
      I had this one, then today I had a Gastroscopy which is lying on your left side, they put a plastic guard in your mouth so you can't bite, and then they send the camera in, I don't know if they use the same scope but with the Gastro one, they either use ansasthetic on your throat or offer to sedate you.
      It felt about 4-5x worse especially going in I think the end part is bigger and wouldn't fit through the nose

    • @eviedp1
      @eviedp1 4 года назад

      Yes! with an endoscopy at the GI doctor. The ENT can typically look in your nose and back of your throat (doesn't really touch your throat though) and it's a super quick procedure with a smaller scope! It's not bad. I cannot imagine having them go that far down with the scope while awake. An endoscopy is super easy because you are sedated.

      I had this done recently, too. No numbing, no nothing, and STANG is definitely the word. I didn't gag or anything and I somehow stayed pretty calm except for the last 20 seconds when my body started rebelling and my eyes were bugging out from the burning sensation. I hope the next time I have this done, I get numbed. My nose ran for 24 hours afterwards!

      As long as there is no severe gag when looking in the mouth with a tongue blade, gagging or vomiting during the exam occurs very rarely. If it does, we just stop the procedure.

    I just had this procedure and I would NOT recommend it. First, they "Packed" both Nostrils with medication. That hurt. Then they gave me a nebulizer and then they sprayed my throat. All so I wouldn't feel it. Um, I did. Ok that was bad for 5 minutes... but my throat and nose has been killing me for 5 hours afterward. I can hardly eat. Has anyone have a TNE due to heartburns? If so, what do they look for? How can ENT help with heartburns? I am having really bad heartburns, everday. I was trying a natural way, apple cider vinegar with water. Betaine HCI but nothing is working. I tried the 14 day treatment with omeprazole and nothing. I do not want other kind of antacids because of the bad side effects. I also struggle with IBS, so antacids only made worse my flare ups. I really appreciate any feedback. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
