Those doors and windows are fantastic. It really elevates the house.
Yeah! Those tall side windows are standard in the base model too. It’s really nice. The accordion door is a $25k extra but it is so nice. I’m a tiny bit obsessed.
Hi Joseph!
Interesting seeing you here. Just wanted to thank you.
… I’ve used some of your ADU tips while constructing. (Extra Water spouts, LV conduits, backing for TV mount, waterproofing near the base etc). Very useful.
nice tour. Love the ADU. I have an ADU and a JADU
I built it myself though :)
Can I come see yours? :)
@@HowToADU Sure.
@@DownwiththeTowerexJW email ryan@how-to-adu.com with details. :) Address and pictures please. I'll write you next time I'm in your area.
I would love to see both, especially your JADU
Nice place!
Right! All the bells and whistles.
Shout out to Louisiana! Thanks! #SouthernGirl
Yeah! You see me :)
I have so much space in the back , I would love to do the first step into building an ADU. Near Palmdale area
Nice! A good first step to doing it on your own is to check with the local planning department. If you’re going to hire a company like Abodu in the video, you can start there since they’ll include permitting in the pricing.
350k is not worth it.. prefab in the way for the future in high priced California. What do you think about boxabl located in Nevada… cheap solution
I generally say that the advantage of these prefab units is that you limit your onsite disruption. They tend to cost about the same as onsite construction, on average, in my experience.
That other company, according to the last circular they released, didn't actually build any homes up to California building code standards and they have repeatedly refused to send me construction documents or other info needed to plan and permit an ADU. Watch Meet Kevin's video of the factory tour if you want all the details :)
$350k is too high. I guess for a turn key ADU people will pay.
Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I think the key here is that the on-site disruption is really reduced by the offsite construction. So this property with 3 other units can continue renting/living/STRin without disruption.
Also worth noting that the base unit is closer to $270k. There are lots of extras included in this specific ADU like the $25k glass accordion door, $20k vertical cedar siding, $10k wood deck, $7900 appliance upgrade to Fisher Paykel, $5600 metal roof, $3800 custom built in cabinet bench, and so on.
I’m in the same boat. These figures work because the median house is over one million dollars.
“Fire extinguisher 🧯 & ironing, I use those about in equal frequency”. 🤣😂🤣😂
Do I look very wrinkly? Or put out a lot of fires? 😅
Try turning the video around and moving the camera slowly so we can see the ADU.
Thanks for the feedback!
Ma man
Espresso!
It was VERY fancy. Don't think it's included in the $350k, but I definitely got my coffee on the next day.
Why does this feel like MKBHD… but for ADUs :)
I couldn’t bring the giant robot arm in 😅 thanks for the compliment :)
Is this a unit that anyone could pay to stay overnight in?
When I checked Airbnb, they had another unit on the property listed so I’m not sure what their policy is at this moment. But I bet yes if you want me to ask.
I should also mention they have a cool showroom in Redwood City with the studio and one bedroom set up indoors. Can’t stay overnight but you can get a real sense of the space
I guess it’s nice when you take away the meaning of affordable housing off the table right? I still prefer the 99k or less idea. Did that die out? 😂
Still working on it!!!! :)
@@HowToADU Good to know. Because I’m actually working on nailing a 100k ADU. So it’s still possible??? 😜
Under the right circumstances!
ROFL 350K adu...you can literally buy a real house for that price, 2 or 3 houses depending on the state.
You definitely got paid to advertise Abodu on this youtube video.
Thanks for watching! As stated in the description, they sponsored some other videos. And yeah - very similar vibe since I shot this footage on the same shoot as the sponsored shorts.
