@ obviously you have been fooled by the exaggerated hype, the ONLY change in our weather, is because of “models” created by bureaucrats PAID to produce outcomes the government want. The CSIRO in Australia, another GOVERNMENT funded corruption, who admits to “HOMOGENISING DATA” again to create a MODEL” to prodict.
The use of “MODELS” is far from accurate, particularly using “HOMOGENISED DATA” , leaving out data they choose.
But the BIGGEST JOKE, is that the installation of the so called “GREEN ENERGY” is that to implement it , REQUIRES THE DESTRUCTION of all things green.
DO SOME RESEARCH, look hard at what has already been destroyed, and it’s not even 1/3 of what’s needed.
The planet NEEDS CO 2 to survive.
Just think, BEES are the pillar of our eco system, to feed them we NEED CO2, plants cannot survive without CO2.
NO PLANTS, NO BEES, NO FOOD
      WE DIE. Bye bye!

Congratulations to the American people you have your country back out of the hands of the WEF globalist MONSTERS>>>>> Australia, UK, Canada, NZ all need a patriot like President TRUMP and the first Lady of class, to get us out of the WEF controlled UN and the evil WHO! And their bull ship Paris accord scam that has nothing g at all to do with climate, CO2 is the only reason there is life as we know in on this planet! >>>>>>
...........This seems impossible but true! Young folk won’t be able to believe this, 50 years of just being WEF=WHO=UN Puppets since Labor PM Gough Whitlam and LNP Malcolm Fraser agreed to the UN Lima agreement in 1975 to sacrifice 30% of our industries. And 30% of Aussie jobs to help third-world countries like China prosper! Agreeing to impose every unelected UN agenda onto the Australian people since then!
50 years ago our politicians had the obligation to ask us in a referendum! Do we choose to be governed by the UN Bureaucrats, they did not! TRAITORS!
do you think Albo-sleazy or Peter Dutton will dare to refuse any order from their UN masters, remember the LNP and LABOR politicians have been obedient collaborators for 50 years of doing what they are told by these UN unelected bureaucrats! The UN Lima agreement, UN Agenda 21, then the UN Paris accord then UN Agenda 2030 >>>>>>>>>>>
Labor and the LNP take turns being just UN Puppets, knowing that the UN has also been just puppets for the WEF globalist monsters for half a century! Climate Change? Yes, it does; that is the evil genius of the Globalist Monsters using this to control and dominate the governments of all UN Member Countries, knowing that there will never be any proof that the UN is controlling the ever-changing Climate,>>>>>>>>>
The Dictionary defines TREASON; “Treason” is when a person acts against his/ her country. ... A treasonous person is called a TRAITOR! Outside the field of law, the word "traitor" can be used to describe a person who betrays a group to which he or she belongs!

Bolt is 100% correct. The payment is nothing to do with the smelters needing to make changes to their operations. Electricity is electricity, they don't need to change anything. All they need is a constant supply (and lots of it) arriving on their doorstep.
It is no more that a subsidy being paid to the company to keep their operations running, now being noncompetitive due to the high cost of electricity driven by government green policies.
It is simply a handout being dressed up as some planet saving green initiative, when it is no such thing.

@@Rog69-c6l Portland's smelter has received $Bs of subsidies since it was built. Plus, as the OP said, they receive their power at huge discount.
If they paid their FULL power bill, you might have a point, but they don't.
Because they chose to build it 400 kms from the power stations, despite a lot of people saying at the time that this was crazy, hundreds of kms of extra HV power lines had to be built into Portland. To ensure they had a constant supply of electricity, larger brown coal power stations had to be built and run 24 hours a day.
They paid for none of this. They didn't pay a HIGHER bill for all of that trouble, they paid less. In effect, for 40 years, the taxpayer has hugely subsidised the production of aluminium.
The jobs are important for the region - but it would have been cheaper to just give the workers the money than it has been to keep the smelter running.
I've read a lot of BS saying we need nuclear so we can have aluminium smelters, and that is the ONLY reason I am negative about the smelter.
It shouldn't be used to justify an NPP, unless the NPP is proposed and built by the operator. The people of SW Victoria don't need a NPP.
