@@Arwelluke yes it was a trotting track...if memory serves me right it was the last proper trotting "stadium" in Britain. When I was little we used to go and stay at my aunty and uncles who's house overlooked it (I grew up in Stoke, I used to love going to Prestatyn). I remember watching the races from the window and being enthralled thinking it was chariot racing! Which I suppose it is in a way
Pontings sounded cooler But Butlins was better I wonder why they closed it down It clearly was a money maker It's just one giant hotel really However I have to say my educated guess would be there's probably a lot of asbestos in those buildings so better to close it down quietly You know no fuss Otherwise my guess is they would have placed some asylum seekers there by now, And whoever could forget the crazy golf The amusement arcade the free ride on the Dodge cars the dodge cars had a rink the size off a foottball field
I remember when that was a racetrack, before Pontins was built. You can still see where the oval of the old track was, in the layout of the site
