He gave me that stink-eye look, and I rephrased my salutation promptly as "Nice to meet you, Magic..." and he replied with his big smile , "Dat's better!" I always will be a fan of his music! He is one of the all time greats due to his genuine performances of his music. RIP Magic!
I tried to help Slim get some wider recognition by asking him to be on my live radio program. He blew me off. I had Ronnie Baker Brooks on as a substitute, who was probably a better guest and appreciated the free publicity. Marty Salzman, who managed Slim, apologized for Slim not answering the phone. I don't think it hurt his career that he blew me off, but I think I would have gotten a few extra fans into his show that night. Was never a big fan of his after he no showed my program.
Please can i get the name of your live radio programme. Definitely sounds worth a listen if you play music like this, and if magic slim was available at the time i can guarantee it would of been a spectacular session, i would definitely look forward to hearing his band play if you could maybe book him anytime in the future if that's possible.

I have opened it for myself on YT too several months ago, and now in the car constantly I listen to it. Real blues!
