GEOTHERMAL GREENHOUSE'S First Winter - Ep. 020
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 10 май 2021
- In a previous episode, • 4200 sq ft GEOTHERMAL ... , we shared the build-out of the 4,200 square foot geothermal greenhouse at Stonebend Farm, but how does the greenhouse perform after almost four feet of snow this winter?
We'll be documenting the progress of the greenhouse build over the coming months and taking notes for our own greenhouse!

I keep seeing people do the same mistake with these geothermal systems. You never want to be pushing the hot air under ground. You need to be pulling on the cold side of the system in order for the refrigeration and heat storage to work efficiently.
Did u ever think of living in the greenhouse that is so big..
I've been looking for a video on this place finished. Are you planning to do an up date?
This is a playground for children and adults BOTH, hydroponics, aquaponics, hammock chairs and BOYS!! What a fun place to grow up. Lucky little dudes, Leland and Pfeiffer. Their family's enthusiasm is contagious!!
Hear me out. Tiny house for sleeping. Giant greenhouse for playing.
“Arkopia”, here on YT, did this on a budget.
@@chrismullin8304 Thanks for the reference! Subscribed and following him!
Totally agreed!
LOVE the Idea!!🤗👍🏽💯
This is INSANE! Absolutely stunning! Going to be amazing for the community, too. Cant wait to see it up and running with the plants and the citrus trees his partner wanted. Just unbelievably well done!!!!
I would “love” to have some land and a greenhouse. I pray about this all the time, along with other people’s needs. I’m retired and poor though. I live in Missouri.
I know right, too bad prayer is nothing but nonsense and all religions are just tools that the global elite use to control peoples thoughts and actions.
Imagine if more people made an effort to change things instead of praying for a change.
You lack faith (acting on the hearts desire with confidence). If you’re going to be religious, read the Bible anecdotally and think critically for yourself, instead of guzzling a cultist’s literal interpretation.
@@David-oy6ck Religious "faith" is a man made IDEA that the elite created to control peoples thoughts and actions without the benefit of actual EVIDENCE. The FEELING of "faith" is a natural human feeling that we can have for MANY things, but religion TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT and made "faith" an almost exclusively religious thing, and used it to brainwash dumb, weak, scared humans.
@@David-oy6ck Faith is trusting God, in both good and bad times, based on the evidence we’ve seen and experienced, and belief in His Word as the only source of knowledge of who He is. God is love, and prayer changes us. God’s goal today is to save as many as He can. But He won’t do it without our permission. We are to seek Him with our entire being. And when we do, we’ll find Him, and He’ll change us and never let us go.
Your suggestion is from the enemy of souls. His goal is to destroy as many as possible.
@@KingArtexerxes you are absolutely right. If we can't take God's Word at face value then God cannot be trusted. He is absolutely trustworthy as revealed in the Bible. You are the one with genuine faith. And God's main objective is not to give us all the material things we want but he sure gives us a lot of things we want and don't need. God bless you and keep you on the right path.
I love this so much, especially seeing the kids enthusiastic about everything! 🥰 I love seeing the garden's progress at Stonebend Farm; we are rooting for you guys!! 💪
OMG! This is amazing! We NEED the follow up for this!
1:01 Temperature rate of change is not dependent on the size of the greenhouse in reference to square foot of floor area. It has to do with the mass (volume) of air and objects inside. ex a 4500 square foot floor area greenhouse that is 6 ft tall will warm up and cool down more rapidly that the same 4500 sq footprint at 18 ft tall assume all else being equal
I would love to hear about the greenhouse in a separate video with clear audio.

Your channel is so underrated. You cover such fascinating topics and I find myself drawn in over and over again.
With so many views, I think lots of people looking for an update on this project.
How exciting! Can’t wait to see the update!
Is there an update available?
Russ Finch has a 100% geothermal house and greenhouse using ONLY THE AMBIENT EARTH TEMP. 6- 8 FEET BELOW THE GROUND!! "GROWING ORANGES IN THE SNOW" (NEBRASKA!!
These kids are beeing raised to be actuall man and responsible adults, great father!
So good! Your own vegetables and huge place to live!
Congratulations!
Is this foreshadowing for Flock's future thermal greenhouse for beautiful and lush tropical plants? 😁😁😁
foreshadowing... it would be a sunken in greenhouse.
The snow should act like an insulator and the sun will help warm it up. I’m wondering if the concrete is cooling it. There is a Canadian professor who built multiple types of greenhouses, some like this but buried. Those ones worked the best. He had one just like this but sunken about 20-25 feet down. He was growing tropical fruit. The video is on RUclips somewhere. Nice greenhouse here.
Great greenhouse. I really like this idea. Greenhouse in my dream. We need more greenhouse to grow food byself in Canada for present and the future. Then, we do not worry about situation of the world.
Joining in on the immense enthusiasm for this green house home. Can't wait for you to feature it again. This is an important idea and it deserves all the attention it can get
This is amazing. I am so much looking forward to this project. The plan sounds really exciting. Good job Summer and Saunder ❤️❤️
Oh Summer, Just discovered your channel! I'm so excited to find you. I grew up in near Windsor NY. (decades ago) Live in Sayre PA now. Have ALWAYS LOVED NYS, especially the Finger Lakes. You present such wonderful people with such great mindsets. With discovered Engelberts in Nichols 14 years ago. The FIRST organic farm in NYS. Certified in 1984!! I subscribed, of course. xxxxxooooo Cathy Miller
Hey Cathy, so glad that you know of the area. There are GREAT people here and we look forward to showcasing more of them and their work. Much to learn from!
To me geothermal is the answer along with solar is an amazing way to live. I have friend in MA, cold weather, and he has his house done with both and I was enthralled he had it. It's the best for the southwest states of course but up here. I love it. I'm sorry I'm just happy to see people get away from being held prisoner by government and their tyranny taxes and greed.
All those ball and gate valves along with the copper fittings must be a fortune, but man it is beautiful. It’s an art form.
What a special man. Maria Montreal Canada
Wow! Can’t wait for the update!
This is amazing I want one lol it's -40 celsius here in ,🇨🇦
Love it aesthetically but financially I want to know "was it worth it? "
I think it’s always worth it to be energy independent regardless of the cost. if you can afford to build it yourself, you save a lot of money
I wanna build one but no land to build. The price of living in a city.
@@MrMannyhw roof top floor
with the same amount of money spent, you could build multiple greenhouses of this size with enough solar panels to keep them warm/cold.
@@rayshu3346 it's not as effective tho also this is what he had in mind. But I know where ur coming from
I think it is time to make an update on this one.
I believe you used perforated tubes under ground. Please turn ON the geo fans and test for radon in both Summer and Winter.
I love this plan and how it's growing and morphing. The idea is pure genius and I hope some day I can visit in person. The inside is totally gorgeous and I look forward to updates when there are plants and people there for pizza.
Love this little community! Watching the kids doing their parkquor in their space was awesome stuff!!
Are you guys planning an update for this?
My next home will have a greenhouse on the south side. Plan to have a living room in the greenhouse part. Being in Canada, a green living space where one can sun themselves makes sense.
This is amazing 👍
I'm definitely trying to figure out how to do this DIY. Very inspiring!
WOW . Amazing Space!!!!
Bloody gorgeous. Maybe deck out the inside with Christmas lights and then post pics taken from the outside?
I'm so glad that our views help your community! I never skip your ads. ❤️
This is excellent in every way! Niiice!
Its beautiful
Great video, thanks
😊😊 Feels like home!
This is so great! Love it! Nice work and all the best to you guys!
love the etid hoodie ;)
I didn't know what i wanted to build, now i know exactly what. Hydroponic grains in north New Hampshire is my goal.
I love this place thanks for sharing ….one thing, though I noticed your radient heating system had manual valves. In Europe We use electronic thermostat to electronic actuator, so you can set the thermostat to the desired temperature no need to open and close valves manually
It's coming right along. I'd like to see more of what you are doing with your property though.
Hey neighbors waving hi from Malone!❤
Can't wait for next update.
Y’all seem like y’all are having a blast 💕
Would love to see more updates as things progress! Awesome design! I am in the process of designing a geothermal greenhouse, just not as big lol Thank you for the video!
That's very inspiring!
Yeah
Wondering about snow load. Its evident it slides off this time but the roof angle is less than 55 degrees which means it won''t slide easily. Do the roof panels withstand enough lbs per foot if it doesnt slide?
Very very cool project! Doing something similar in Argentina.
Can we get update videos from the green house?
It's crazy how perfect everything is
Great video! Please return here regurlarly to follow the development. I would definitly watch. Also, i want a bigger greenhouse now...
Wow!! Look at that snow!! Awesome project! Wish I could visit 👋
Yes Please! I will take one. This greenhouse is crazy amazing!
I have never seen such a project, and looks interesting, but I wonder if there is an issue with high humidity... If, of course, you plan to use the greenhouse for growing vegetables.
Would you be so kind to elaborate on it ?
I'm jelly. That is a greenhouse. Just wow
So cool. What a fun space.
great
I'd love to see an update this summer
The kids playing and laughing makes this project that much more special
and suddenly i now desire to have my first post-cov*d adventure be a 5.5 hour drive to there lol
Nice build, good engineering on the structure, should last for a long time!
Love the logo 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
looks amazing .... but also amazingly expensive. Can you share how much the total greenhouse build cost?
That's the most important question. You could certainly make a cheaper 3 season greenhouse instead of year round, with the same principles though. Greenhouse poly instead of poly carbonate panels, lower height, do all the work yourself, for a few thousand dollars in materials.
Great update on this project. Thank you x
Are there plans written up for this that can be purchased?
Let's hope they designed it to prevent mildew forming. Having a moisture in a timber building, in a cold climate is a very bad idea as many here in Iceland have found out.
yep, cedar would have the logical choice, oak + humidity = black surface mold then rot
@@VenezuelaNow I was thinking about deeper mold that can cause damage to humans. If there isn't a moisture barrier in insulated walls when there's a big difference in inside and outside temperature the building will potentially only last 10 years in the worst case scenario.
Wood + tons of humidity... omfg. They MUST have planned for it though, right???
@@canadiangemstones7636 We can only hope...
How much did that cost to that point? Really cool. Keep the brix up and the plants become invisible to predatory insects… low brix=stressed plants, stressed plants = big problems, mold problems, nutrient uptake problems…. But most folks love their salt high npk quick results bs… cool greenhouse
i want to build this in Virginia. What should I budget for this type of project?
"yeah"
When was this shot? Beautiful greenhouse, love the size of the project and the owners passion is great. I wish them all the best and a great success moving forward.
It was shot across December 2020 - February 2021. The previous video was shot 6-8 mos before: ruclips.net/video/0izZ5DvgCIU/видео.html
When will be the update video?
6:09 LMAO
You use a used solar panel and a single battery to run a low power fan 24/7 with some wire! Then use a real compose pile to heat your Greenhouse in the Winter!
What is this green house for? A restaurant, a rental place? It's more of a building with a large sky light, then a green house. Guessing this is their first green house, definitely going to run into some problems.
I have had polycarbonate roofs over the years, and I will tell you they do not last, and glass is the only way to go although we all know more expensive in the long run glass is far superior in many ways!
Thank you for showing this. I’m in zone 8b, but I still loose almost all my top growth every winter on my in ground trees.
On amazon I see mostly permeable tree covers for that allow a little moisture in. Have you tried any of this type of cover? Also, do you close up the bottom to prevent ventilation or do you want ventilation? Thanks
Trains, hammocks, cat walks...I need to move in!
Very interesting, I wish the gal wouldn’t interrupt all of the time so thoughts and explanations could be finished
This is what I want. How can I make one? what are the materials did you use? Will you be able to make one for me? what is the total cost? where did you get each of these materials to make this system? appreciate it thank you for sharing
Very nice build just a bummer they didn’t go in the ground!
Smart idea 👍 cant wait
Any books recommended tips for any type of harvesting, planting, and just picking?
How many cats peed on the inner circuits of that computer to create that music?!
This possible in weather that can get to -50?
Thank you for sharing. You guys might like a geodesic dome green house. Maybe check them out before you decide on a green house. Have a great week. From PEI Canada
Well done!
these kids are doing so much parkour!
I found this video in feb 2022… so it’s probably already done … but could be changed if desired probably so I will mention the idea. Chinese passive solar suggests to vent stove into greenhouse to capture more heat rather than vent it outside.
Also… in a greenhouse party space … a hot tub could be nice !? Another heat source.
What’s the approximate project cost for something like this
That thing is amazing....
Is there anything planted yet? Has the temperatures evened out?
so cool
14:01 Why can't you use roof water for interior irrigation? Polycarbonate roof would not be a source of undesirable compounds that get into the water. What are you afraid of? The best water available for commercial greenhouses is roof water.
how do they avoid condensation & bacterial growth in the geothermal cooling ?
