Pete the Canadian Villa fanatic enjoyed most of Saturday's contest from 7400 kilometers away, but there is always room for improvement. For Moreno's disallowed goal I think they projected a vertical line down from his shoulder to be horizontally level with his foot in order to compensate for the camera angle, and declared his shoulder was offside.
Dubious, farcical, ridiculous are three words that spring to mind.
Add to that the non penalty penalty, various yellow and red card offences ignored.
The ref had a poor debut, and was not helped by VAR.
Great show, Peter! Does anyone else get the feeling MOTD also protected the newbie ref? A clear mistake on the penno decision for one! The 'hand that feeds' line summed it up nicely. Another word would be corruption!
They should have VAR discussions broadcast for everyone to hear

Brilliant weekend Peter! Having both the men and the women beating London opposition . . . FANTASTIC! I had the privilege of watching the MIGHTY Villa women beat Spurs. As with the Fulham game, fabulous support by the Villa women faithful and a fantstic goal by Jordan Nobbs to win it. Now if only there was someone from Canada who could do such a brilliant vlog as yours about the women's team! No VAR with the women's game and looking at the use and non-use of it yesterday, Ollie's penalty!!! all I can say is THANK GOD FOR THAT! Every week we follow, the boys in Claret & Blue . . . and get nailed by VAR. Thanks Peter. As SUPERB as ever!

@@derekhollis197tht wouldn’t be good for his channel. The vast majority of Villa fans are only concerned about the men’s team. Other channels have tried it and it was detrimental to their channel.
I am not saying he should not start a new channel dedicated for the women’s team as that won’t have the same negative impact on this channel. However, creating content is very time consuming and the viewership would be so small it would be hard to justify the time.
@@derekhollis197 My thoughts exactly. I feel it is a wonderful opportunity to have not only wonderful analysis of the women's game but also for Pete to have a way of diversifying his audience. Women's football is on the rise and to start a quality vlog on Aston Villa Women would be brilliant. What could one call it? Do any of the other women's teams have a vlog? To understand the differences, not only in the standard of the women's game but also the differences in the crowd, well I am sure Pete with his superb eloquence and intelligence, as well as accurate punditry and analysis, entails baing there but so many dedicated, knowledgeable and dare I say it, fun people go to the matches and there would be volunteer correspondents coming forth to give a different flavour to the all-male Holy Trinity Show. Food for thought Peter?
Great show Pete as ever, it is such a joy when we win and we can all bask together in the after-glow. It's so great to see JJ, one of our own, powering forward once again. And King Pau, an absolute Rolls-Royce, I think he should wear a crown when he is playing to indicate his football status. Hoping you were going to say something about the 'Villa Staff Letter and Chris Heck' but presume you are doing the due diligence as you say. Thanks again Pete for the show, really appreciate it. Even better than that Pete, we have accrued 98 points in those games at 1.96 per game. He managed 25 games last season for 49 points and the same also this season.

Excellent pod as ever! One small correction. Regarding Emery’s PL record with Villa, yes, he has 30 wins in 50 games, but he also has 8 draws. Factoring that in, he’s averaging a staggering 1.96 points per game. Elite stuff!

We really enjoy your show, the walk from Putney Bridge to Craven Cottage is the very best in the EPL.
Regarding the unfilled seats in their new Riverside stand I believe it is due to the contractor going bust so the interior isn’t ready for supporters.
Next away for us is Luton which will be great regardless of the view we will have, then the trip to the dreadful London Stadium.

As always a great analysis of the game Pete. You are spot on regards VAR too. Like you I’ve always maintained the technology isn’t the problem it’s the useless muppets who, despite watching it in 20 different angles and taking 3/4 minutes to check it, still coming to an incorrect decision. I get sick and tired of hearing commentators, pundits etc saying things like, anywhere else on the pitch it’s a foul! It’s a foul everywhere on the pitch! I thought the none penalty for us was bad but the one Brentford didn’t get when Toney was cleaned out by Robertson was even more criminal! The officiating has got so much worse with the introduction of VAR and that in itself should have alarm bells ringing at the PGMOL but oh no, they just stick together protecting themselves! Great video, great result and UTMV! 🥃

A Villa away day as always been a fav of mine. Wish I was able to go more often. For me Ollie is getting better and better. Getting shots off earlier and more often on target.
The letter really concerned me, I am so happy on the field this week but I think as fans we deserve more information.

Some villa fans when Pau joined - he's getting bullied, he's not good. P.s. he's a Spanish international and why querying Emerys buying. He's a class defender, starts moves with a goal as the end result. We are lucky to have him

I cannot understand why any of our fans ever doubted him. He was excellent from the get go and has just got better.
Enjoyed the show as always 👍. I can’t get on board with the “ it’s not VAR it’s the people” idea though. VAR will always be subject to the people operating it, so they are an inherent part of its flaw. And they will always be flawed. So VAR will always be flawed. Aside from the people, it’s also remote, sterile, and subjective. We can accept a Ref in real time giving, or not, a decision…and we all live with it in the moment. But by definition having incidents analysed afterwards, and remotely, will always create an expectation of consistency which can never be achieved, and a suspicion of subjectivity which will never be lifted. Even with the factual issue of offside, there are subjective components. It’s a great mistake to think accuracy is the most crucial element in a football match. It’s the most crucial element in Chartered Accountancy. We should return to instant, albeit flawed, officiating.
Don't agree with your 'fan' dismissal of Cash! Who in my view gave 100% and made important blocks! Lenglat snd Martinez mix up was to blame for the goal.😮
Thing is, about the offside, the lino flagged, so without VAR it wouldnt have stood anyway. But do agree, the lines looked iffy and probably shouldnt have been off.

How would that work better if we could hear the discussion? We still wouldn't be able to affect the outcome.
The idea is that they'll take their job seriously if they know they're on a hot mic.
even with the Injuries, we are doing great. Just think when we get them all back and there is no one Injured, a full squad, I know It's a tall order, but you never know. How good would that be? UTMV
