  • I had a question today about how to set up a Product Template to select a material for a body. This video was recorded using NX 2007, but the technique has actually been possible since about NX 6 or so. The trick is adding the "Body" to the dialog, as you'll see. :-)

Could you help please ? In Assign Solid Density can I assign a Variable to Mass of Selected Bodies ?

I don't believe we allow this right now... Allowing an expression to drive density would make it extremely easy to create circular references (for example, with an associative mass measurement creating an expression that directly or indirectly drives the variable you're using to drive the density, which would then affect the mass measurement, which would affect the density, etc.) These days I'd recommend using Assign Material and the techniques in the video, rather than trying to drive a density value directly. Hope that helps!

thank you very much ! Could you PLEASE explain how can I measure distance between 2 solid body in a certain region ? : consider a vertical bar and a vertical bended one. I know that between Z 2mm-5mm there is a critical dimension. How can I measure MIN in that region ? @@taylorandersonnxvideos

add to my preview post : there could be between the 2 solid body a Minimum distance somewhere else but I want to know Minimum distance between the 2 in region defined by a plane at z=2 and a plane defined by z=5

@@nx6677 Easiest way might be to just subdivide a face in that region and measure from one body to the subdivided face (or group of faces) in the region you care about. Hope that helps!
