One of Charles Osgood's most attractive distinctions was his mellifluous voice. It was easy on the ears. In this world there are so many people who lack that basic amenity. Sadly, there are too many like that on NPR.

few people I can say helped me along the way in my radio career Paul Harvey being one and Charles Osgood number two. I would sit as a young child and listen to Paul Harvey much to my parents amazement. As I grew older I knew radio was my dream job, I worked for several companies behind the scenes before landing my first overnight on air job. As my program directors groomed me into what I should be i always held fast of what I wanted to be. Slow down, take a deep breath and talk to that one person that I knew was listings. after 34 years in the business I still hold true to my standards of simple is better. Thank you Mr. osgood thank you for teaching so many of us "youngens" happy retirement. see you on the radio:)

Howdy everyone! There was this elephant born on August 16, 1999, at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Center for Elephant Conservation. Five names were on a poll: Barnum, Boomer, Osgood, Petey, and Webster. “Osgood” won with 77% of the votes. SEVENTY-SEVEN PERCENT. What gives? 😀
