Join me in this makeover of a MCM Bassett dresser for the second time! My first instinct would be to go dark if I'm painting a piece like this but I went light the first time because that was selling best in my market and sometimes you have to make a business choice. Unfortunately that didn't work out in my favor and it sat on the market for over 6 months and I didn't get a single message about it. I figured it was time to change it up and go with my gut on this one. So far it has been up for about 3 months, and I haven't gotten much feedback, although it must be a little better because I got a few messages. What should I do now that it has been sitting and I already redid it? Let me know in the comments below what you think, and I'll see you in the next video!!
Profit Breakdown:
Purchased for- $40
Materials used- $45
Selling for- $500
Profit: $415
This piece is still sitting in my spare room and not much interest. What should I do now that I have redone it twice!? Let me know in the comments!

Yes, you should add hardware. I really like the second version.
I’m considering it, thank you!! 😊
I had a piece that didn’t sell for awhile. I added hardware, and it sold within a week. Maybe try it?
Yep, it needs hardware. I prefer the 2nd go around much more. I heard recently that white furniture is not selling anywhere. Not sure about that, but it’s what i heard. You do very, very nice work. 😊
I would add hardware to it
Love the dark color. It needs hardware and different legs.
Oh different legs okay good idea
I love the new look. Black oaint with a medium to dark stain is my all-time favorite. I think it looks elegant and timeless. I agree with others that hardware would be the perfect finishing touch and elevate it quite a bit. It just looks like a dresser that should have hardware in my opinion🎉
Yes add champagne drawer pulls
Add hardware if it dont sell after 2 months then lower the prize ❤
Good idea!
As soon as I saw the dresser before this second go around, I thought it was very pretty. I love the white with paint wash wood. But I thought it looked plain and needed some gold hardware. And I’ll say the same thing after you changed it to black. It’s very pretty. But I think it needs some modern gold pulls. The dresser has a great shape and the finish is beautiful but it lacks pizzazz.
I think hardware might be the selling appeal it needs. It’s beautiful just as though.
Thank you so much!
Hello, The rough texture that is grabbing the fibers from your stain rag are caused by "Water Popping the grain" when you wipe the freshly sanded surface with water the grain stands up. You want to hit that with 220 grit to take it off, that will solve the rough surface and change the feel of the piece as well as the visual appearance. I am a furniture maker and do enjoy watching what folks do to bring new life to older pieces. thanks for your hard work and sharing this with us
In my area, everyone wants hardware. Also, this summer sucked for sales. Could be just.
I’m glad I’m not the only one, I feel like it was so hard to sell this summer!
Beautiful! Do you do any one on one training, specifically using the Wagner sprayer?
I have not yet but it will be in upcoming videos!
Excellent video tutorial learning a lot from your channel 👍
Glad to hear that, thank you so much for watching!
Love the piece the way it is. How much do you have it listed for? Could the price be the problem?
So far it’s 500, I have gone down and gotten nothing so I went back up to 500 and it’s just sitting there. I’m okay with going lower but I also didn’t need it gone so I was letting it sit for a while.
It looks great. You do have plenty of room in it for profit if you wanted to lower the price. If you add hardware it's a lot harder to come back from if that doesn't work. What about finding a dresser or night stands and making a "matching piece" to sell as a set
Oh that’s a great idea I didn’t think of that! Thank you! 😊
Where can I see your furniture on sale? Do you ship to Key west Florida
I currently live in Augusta GA I list on Facebook marketplace. I have considered shipping before and there are companies I would work with if you’re interested! facebook.com/marketplace/profile/100001919543294/?ref=permalink&mibextid=6ojiHh
I like it without hardware and I think most people looking for midcentury might appreciate that too. I am shocked that didn’t go quickly once it was black. White is very slow in my area too.
I think hardware might help. It’s pretty simple , although very pretty. Could the price be too high?
I liked the white with the paint wash on the drawers and legs best . Obviously in your area they like darker.Hope it sells for you fast. Prayers 🙏 and Love From Oklahoma
Hardware yes. Otherwise it is beautiful ❤
Thank you!
Cần thêm phần cứng dù màu sắc rất tuyệt vời này 🎉
Thank you!
I love the new look, although it looked great before as well. I am going to use Behr Water Bsed Wood Stain & Poly directly over a piece I just did to try and darken it up. It has a water based poly coat on it now, and the stain color was too light. It should work if I lightly scuff sand the existing finish, so that I don't have to sand it back to bare wood again. I agree that having a pair of nightstands finished in a similar style to sell with it might make it more appealing. Hardware idea is good also.
Oh awesome, good luck with your flip! Yeah I think that’s a great idea to add another piece or two to it. Thank you!
What state are you in? Yes add hardware.
I’m in Georgia!
Add hardware to it but not too much.
Yeah I agree I don’t want it to take over the piece
Hi Sammy, looking forward to watching your magic✨️❤️Your Florida pal ~ Michelle 🦋🌞🩵🤗
Yay! Enjoy! ☺️
@@DIYWithSammy Oh it was great! Loved the results. You are very good at explaining❤
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
Bet it sells fast now~
I wish but it’s still sitting
Change the legs,
Like everyone else, hardware is worth a try. Don't understand why it didn't sell with the beachy paint wash. Now that you've changed it completely and still not selling is a mystery for sure. I know it's discouraging and disappointing but just try not to let it get you down. Your work is always awesome! Let us know if you add hardware what the outcome is! We're all in your corner! Awesome job both times! 😊❤
Yeah I’m not sure why it didn’t sell either. Sometimes you just get a piece that doesn’t do well.
❤️
Thanks for watching!
I like the newer version. Good work. Thanks
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching!! 😊
